I commute to work in Cambridge 2 days per week, staying in a B&B overnight. Since finding the Gate Lodge it's become my preferred B&B, and I've been staying in it 1 night per week for most weeks since September 2012. Susan is always a friendly and welcoming host, and incredibly flexible in arrangements. I've stayed in all three rooms, and all have their own character and are comfortable and provide everything that's needed. They've recently had a slight shuffle and refurbishment of the rooms - keeping their character and making them feel even more comfortable. A great location for traveling the short distance into Cambridge, and for escaping onto the major roads (A11, M11, A14) without getting snarled up in Cambridge traffic.

We stayed for a weekend as friends were getting married nearby. Most of our friends stayed in hotels, I'm so glad we decided to book Gate Lodge. Susan and Philip are great hosts, very attentive and accommodating but relaxed and discreet too which really put us at ease. Breakfast was fantastic as was our room (huge bed, big desk, view of garden and plenty of natural light for applying make up!) the separate bathroom was just across the landing and private, clean and gushing shower and nice bath with velux window above for leisurely soak. Very highly recommended!

Lovely B&B run by a very enthusiastic and helpful landlady. Good access to Cambridge and surrounding areas. Nice, clean and comfy rooms with all amenities included. Would highly recommend it and will visit again. Thank you for a great stay.

I was there for interviews nearby on two subsequent days. The landlady (Susan) was very accommodating and supportive in my last minute preparation needs. Clean, comfortable, well-equipped room with study desk and wide-screen plasma TV and a nice view out onto the garden. Beautiful building with breakfast in a lovely setting and she was flexible with timings. Bathrooms were really nice with proper power shower!

Plenty of parking space available and pub opposite, with a good quality Indian takeaway nearby (no deliveries), although Susan offered to heat up food for me - which is really helpful if you haven't got time or feel like going out. She has attention to detail and keen to help out however possible e.g. providing me with a list of cycle routes when I asked about places to go running/walking. Perfect place if you're wanting to stay near Cambridge and particularly if you're based at Fulbourne.

Room Tip: If you're there to study, choose the one with the decent sized desk and plenty of leg room, otherwise the en-suite next door :)

I stayed at gate lodge in order to attend a training course nearby and wanted to avoid the usual business hotel. Susan is clearly committed to running a great B&B. The house is lovely and characterful, whilst being equipped for modern use, e.g. the shower actually works properly, there are accessible plug sockets to charge any electrical items. There is a pub just over the road - pretty standard food, but cheap and convenient (I gather there are nicer pubs with food in the village, to be investigated next trip!). Susan and hubby offered to heat up food for me, which is a great option if you don't want to go out. I was sent clear directions and info when I booked and its easy to park at the house. So, all in all, I would recommend the Gate Lodge - clean, comfortable, acommodating and run by someone with attention to detail and making sure "everything is OK" for your stay.

Room Tip: I had the en suite room at the front which was lovely: comfortable, cosy and convenient
