They say horses are very therapeutic... Well these humble hoofed heroes and heroines are fantastic to meet. If you ever hear a 'pace' of donkeys all braying in unison at 4pm for their food, you'll never hear anything that sounds so awful but so hilarious at the same time. You'll find yourself grinning like a donkey!

to those who are caring for these beautiful creatures

We went there after hours, so made 'contact" with the donkeys through the fence, but what a wonderful reminder of the need to care for our fellow creaures.

The donkeys are beautiful, and are clearly well cared for. They almost look happy!

This is a sanctuary for, unfortunately, only a very few of the dreadfully mistreated donkeys in Southern Africa whre they can find shelter, care and a final dignified and unstressed time in their very hard, unsung lives. It is not spectacular, it is not exciting, but it is very uplifting.

A great place to go and eat and visit the Donkeys. Lots to do and also a great farm stall. Rugby is also popular in the dinning area.

Our family enjoyed a short tour around the enclosure at the Donkey Sanctuary. We learnt about the background of the charity and met some of the special donkeys that are being cared for there. Our highlights (especially for the kids) were stroking some of the friendlier donkeys and seeing the fluffy young ones.
