“Little Gem!”

My partner and I spent three wonderful days in McGregor and the surrounds. Tanagra was the perfect hide away for us. It had everything we needed and more!

We loved Hill Cottage and will definitely be going back! All the amenities you need are there plus more! The fireplace in the bedroom was the cherry on top.

Robert and Anette were the perfect hosts. They made sure we felt we could contact them if we needed anything, but other than that we were left to do our own thing.

McGregor and Tanagra are perfect for a weekend get away or even a week long break and I would recomend it to all my friends and family.

We were 8 old friends spending two nights here after a wedding in Capetown and we all adored Tanagra. I had chosen it on the internet and feared it might not live up to my friends high expectations but everyone adored Tanagra. Two couples stayed in the Garden cottages and the other two at 'Faraway' . We loved the vineyard walks and marvelled at the birdlife. The Reserve hide is well worth a visit to see the pair of sea eagles. We took Annette's advice and got together for a braii at Faraway buying our meat at a wonderful bucher in Robertson. What an idyllic evening under the huge starlit Karoo sky in a little corner of secluded heaven! Robert and Annette were a very friendly and hospitable couple, always looking to be helpful. Annette's breakfasts were incredible, almost everything homemade: various types of bread. countless jams, carefully sourced cheeses and meats. All in abundance! The only negative was that we didn't stay long enough!

We had such a lovely weekend, lovely and clean... Anette was so hospitable and we loved out grappa tasting, wine enjoyable, light and easy drinking.. Your new cab that you just bottled we had with lunch over Easter and it was really enjoyable, light, fruity lunch time wine. Our lunch at Karoux was fantastic! Five star, thank you for the recommendation Anette. We will definitely be back to stay in the one bedroom on the hill, and definitely another trip to stay in faraway with the family.
Andrew and I would like to thank you once again for a lovely and memorable weekend with my parents.

we also stayed in the loft room and loved the terrace we had views across the dam and the gardens and vineyard.Annettes welcome was lovely she was so helpful and made excellent suggestions for us to visit. We loved the Saturday market which lasted 20 mins!local people sold their fresh produce, breads, jam, veg and fruit etc it was such a great idea and you could tell who was popular by the ladies jostling in to buy!The apartment was very quirky ,we would not recommend it for very tall chefs as the ceiling slopes! It was well fitted out with a huge comfy bed and we loved travelling around the wineries.

We stayed three nights in the Loft Room and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, rarely seeing other guests or even Robert & Anette, who were friendly and there when needed, but who really respect the privacy of their guests. We enjoyed cooking for ourselves and the kitchen had everything we needed. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a deck offering grand views over the pond and vineyards. We were fortunate to be there during harvest time for the sweet Merlot grapes and picking / eating the various grapes was a distinct highlight. Being close to McGregor and Robertson made it easy for shopping and eating out.The area offered much to see and do, but for us we most enjoyed just relaxing. We recommend Tanagra most highly.

My wife & I stayed in the Garden Cottage for 3 nights in late January. The cottage is simply furnished but with great style & has a lovely verandah overlooking the gardens & vineyards
Robert & Annette are great hosts & Annette serves gastronomic (&sometimes alcoholic!!) breakfasts which you should be sure to sample. Macgregor is a charming village with good dining options just a few minutes drive away.We had a lovely time here & highly recommend a visit

Room Tip: Could not fault Garden Cottage...

The hospitality and accomodation at Tanagra is very good. We went staright there from Cape Town airport (about 2 hour easy drive) and spent 5 nights at Tanagra. There are plenty of places to visit around there, McGregor where there are nice restaurants, Montagu (40 min drive) and Viljoensdrift Wine farm (30 min drive) where you can go on a river cruise with a picnic

On the way back to Cape Town you can take in Cape Argules (bit out of the way but worth it), Hermanus, Gordon's bay - good mountain and coastal scenery

Robert and Anette made us very welcome at the farm and we had a great time
