We were taken here last year on our first trip to the Western Cape and on our return this year we made sure we were booked in twice, having failed to secure a second booking last visit.
This has to be one of my favourtite restaurants, ever. The team that run it are Innes who at times is rude, funny, always cheeky and only serious when she is describing the menu in welcome detail & Brydon the very tasty cook who so obviously cooks not only with skill but from the heart. The menu changes around the edges, but that is a big part of it's charm. My husband would have been devastated if the devilled kidneys had been missing from the appetisers,as I would have missed the gruyere souffle, meat is always good whether it be game or steak.I'm usually too stuffed to try dessert but have stolen off others plates with evident pleasure. They cater to all dietary needs if told in advance, handy for the Coeliac in our party. The wines are local with a very good Pinot Noir from Creation being my favourite. The views over the fields down to the river and onto the mountains is stunning but the lack of formality and the chatty nature of Innes draws customers together and you find yourself making new friends over another bottle of wine, soon the afternoon slips away and still you chat & sip on, Brydon joining the party when service is over. This is a real treasure of a restaurant.
