The quaint country setting in the rural capelands that forms the backdrop to Havercrofts belies the bubbly welcome, the excellent fayre and the entertaining restaurateurs. As friends you make think bias creeps in but rest assured if you do not visit this gem you will miss excellent cuisine and a diffferent type of repartee. Go on treat yourselves. Mike MH

Innes & Brydon are managing something which is very rare - they make you feel as they were cooking their heart out for a long lost friend. Everything we tasted was magnificent - but it is their hospitality, humor and entertainment that makes this place so special. I don't know if Innes can pull this off 4 times a week, but if she does I draw my had!! Innes I draw it anyway.
We had such a fantastic time - nearly tasted everything on the menu and stayed till late, late, late on their patio - while she was a perfect mixture off quirky raconteur, best friend, lovely host and rude comedian.
I just admire their passion for food & people and for what they created. A rare find - not so rare in the beautiful valley of Stanford though - as you will find a different but similar love in Marianna's kitchen.
Thank you for making our lives more beautiful !

We had the pleasure of spending Sunday lunch at Havercroft's and it was such a beautiful experience. Innes is a glorious host and Brydon, her husband, a fantastic chef and also a pleasure to chat to when the cooking rush is over. All three courses we ordered were delicious, particularly the gruyere soufflé entree and pork belly main. The wine choice was also top notch; it's clear that a lot of time goes into selecting quality produce. We felt like we had the best seat in the house out on the terrace with sweeping valley views and sunshine through the overhanging vines. If we lived locally, we would be back on a regular basis. Thank you Innes and Brydon for your hospitality. We completely agree with an earlier comment that you and your restaurant would be a knock out anywhere you set up shop.

We have owned a place in Hermanus,15 mins from Havercrofts, but went for the first time last Sunday. We should have been going for years!!
Lovely setting with views of the mountains,in good weather go for the terrace if you can. However any table here is better than no table.
Innes is huge fun out front and turns lunch into more of an event with friends. Great restaurants have legentary maitre de and Innes would be a household name in London if Havercrofts was in Soho, not in Stanford.
Then of course, the food which was quite superb. Gruyere cheese souffle as good if not better than I have eaten anywhere, pork belly and beetroot chutney to die for and all three of our deserts were outstanding. The wine list comprises the best that the local vineyards have to offer and the whole experience was huge fun as well as a delicious meal. To our astonishment our guest recognised Bryden from the Hermanus gym where he finds time to run spinning classes of, as Innes puts it, "training to ride a bike without stabalizers!" I cannot vouch for his spinning skills but he is an outstanding chef who produces a short, ever changing menu which on Sunday I could have had everything such was the variety and interest.
I am delighted to have finally found Havercrofts and just hope reviews like this will not make getting a table even more difficult! As they say, booking essential but well worth it.
