Superbly organised and great fun. I would highly recommend this place if you have a spare 24 hours. A really great example of a game park that gives you the look and feel of a full blown safari!

Fantastic views, game drives, food and stuff for kids. The all inclusive deal we got has to rate as the best value break I have ever been on.

The game drives were excellent, and even though this is not true Africa-lowveld type country, the wildlife is indeed wild and very active. We saw a cheetah hunt with a herd of Springbok, right around the vehicle. We had an amazing encounter with an ostrich, we fed a 4t Bull Elephant, we saw the bad tempered buffalo drive off a herd of zebra. And lots of other smaller stuff like frogs and birds and snakes.
Plus they have the reptile park and cheetah centre.

And the bar near the pool is very atmospheric and rugged, with views over the valley.

In short, it was awesome and our visitors from Oz were blown away.

The Game-view guides at Garden Route Game Lodge are great, very skilled and have a lot of knowledge!
You should not go there for the rooms nor for the food, but to take part of a few game-views. The rooms are ok (a bit dull though and VERY cold if you go in the beginning of summer) and the dinner buffés are not at all exciting. The breakfast though, is very good.
The Garden Route Game Lodge is situated conveniently on the Garden route with fantastic scenic views.

The Garden Route Game Lodge is the best spot on the Garden Route. Tucked away just outside Mossel Bay and only a few hours from Cape Town, it is the ultimate getaway into the African wild. Unbelievably stunning views from their restaurant and its large decks. Sit next to a crackling fire in their bar and watch zebra or rhino walk by in the distance. Their little luxury thatched hut rooms are accessed along a wooden pathway that weaves in and out of the vegetation and has views of the game farm itself. At night the pathways turn into a fairy wonderland and you feel transported into another world. Each hut, complete with ensuite, has a deck with views of the game farm and it's from this deck that you can watch the amazing African sun set far in the distance and perhaps glimpse impala or springbok dancing in the moonlight.

We can't sing their praises enough when it comes to the service and the game drives and the meals....oh the meals...so much choice and personal touches and scrumptious menu items. The food was delicious.

We went on two game drives, with a most knowledgeable guide, Avry and a guide who made it his mission to make sure we saw every animal we wanted to see and also every bird and insect! We saw their new baby giraffe, with its mama and papa, how cute was that? We saw rhino, elephant, all sorts of bucks, buffulo, wildebeest, cheetahs and the lions they had rescued.

Thank you to all the staff at the Lodge and to the hands-on owners, Anthony and Natasha Doherty. It is very obvious how much you all truly love the Lodge and that you hope your customers do too. This is a rare quality to see in establishments these days and I think it's what makes the Garden Route Game Lodge stand out and shine.

My husband, Mike and I couldn't have enjoyed our stay more, as the Lodge is a place where magic happens and somewhere we'd love to visit again.

We stayed in the Lodge for 3 nights and really enjoyed it.

The Lodge is situated next to the N2 and not only has a fenced in area for the game drives, but also a cheetah farm and a reptile house.
We had a warm welcome by their staff / rangers who were capable of answering every question we had.
The buildings are in a good state, comfortable and in the dining room as well as in the collective room there was woodfire in the evenings which made it a place of gathering and where it was therefore easy to get in touch with other guests.
Early in the morning and in the afternoon, game drives are offered which are really entertaining and interesting as for you get very close to the animals and the rangers give fondamental information about their behaviour.
Food!! Very important matter! The dinner's buffet was amazing; great range of choice, from pasta to grilled kudu. Breakfast was nevertheless delicious, too. So, for us there was no problem of starvation.
We really enjoyed our stay and recommend the Garden Route Game Lodge!!

Great family holiday - very friendly and helpful staff. Right off the N2 but so quiet and secluded. Beautiful spot - highly recommended!
