Can anyone help me please! I've just booked a week in July here and (it's my own fault as should if done more research ) but is this island now safe! Are there high risks? I'm in panic mode now and considering changing my holiday? If anyone could give me peace of mind I would be greatful.

We stayed in May 2013, 2 weeks all inclusive with our friends and their daughter.
The hotel itself is pretty good. A lot of German tourists, the kids entertainment was steered towards the German children (everyone seemed to be speaking German only?) Our son was only 2 1/2 at the time so he didn't go to the kids club but our friends daughter (half German) really loved it!

I cannot complain about the food, always plenty on offer.
The negatives - we never got good night sleep due to loud guests, constant noise from teenage guests. We stayed in the interconnecting rooms by the pool. The rooms looked smart but the constant shouting and walking all night was horrendous.
The beach - lots of camels pooing and weeing everywhere, not ideal if you have overexcited toddler running around.

To sum it up - we enjoyed the food on offer, sunshine and pools for children (although the water was freezing cold), and being with our friends made this a great holiday. I wouldn't go back as we enjoy a nice beach but if you don't care about the poo all over - you'll probably like this hotel.

Room Tip: rooms on the way to beach are lovely and quiet, I wish we stayed there not by the pool.

Having been to other Magic Life hotels, I knew what to expect! When we went the hotel was busy but not too busy! The food was nice, the evening entertainment was quite entertaining though I would stay away from the shows! The hotel in the main was nicely laid out, and the room we had was nice, we were in a bungalow, and it was good to have a bit of extra room however the balconies view wasn't great and they didn't get much sun, and the air conditioning wasn't very effective! I would recommend the hotel and the beach and pools are nice, the island as a whole is a bit sparse however there is no reason to leave the resort!

Spend 1 glorious week here at the end of September. Had emailed in advance as had requested two connecting rooms (2 elderly relatives) and asked if we could have pool views. They gave us exactly as we had requested. The view of the sunset on the first night was wonderful. The hotel is spotless and the food first class. We ate in only one of the speciality restaurants (the oriental) and it was lovely. Our waiter had let them know we were coming and they had decorated the table for us which was great and made us feel very special. The staff throughout are lovely and can't do enough for you. I would certainly go back and maybe in 2014.

Room Tip: Stay in the main hotel and all inside rooms have a pool view

A great holiday for families. Excellent entertainment to keep them busy all day! Food was excellent, buffet style and plentiful. Staff very friendly, 3 swimming pools fantastic, main one busy but others less so. Beach great but very busy with people trying to sell you anything, But staff did a fine job keeping most at bay. We packed in as much as possible from riding, banana boat, tennis, volley ball, evening entertainment, quad bikes etc etc. room was on the small side, shower worked in a fashion..... very positive week and excellent value for money.

After reading reviews prior to visiting, we were a little apprehensive about the holiday! However we couldn't of been more wrong, as the staff greeted us upon arrival with drinks and friendly happy faces, also having people take luggage to our rooms making our check in relaxing.

As the week began the food in the main restaurant was of a good quality with its wide range of food, even catering for the pickiest of eaters! We chose to dine in the main restaurant every night of our holiday as each meal we were greeted by the same waiter who already had a table arranged and drinks waiting for us upon arrival.

There was something for everyone when it came to the hotel and its entertainment programmes for both day and night, providing non stop fun for All ages.... The thing which topped it off for me and my family were the free water sports that were available whether it be banana boating or kayaking..

There was a wide range of bars to chose from, whether you wanted a chilled drink in a quiet place or whether you were more outgoing and wanted a dance!

THE WEATHER was gorgeous all day everyday and you were guaranteed around 9-10 hours of gorgeous weather per day.

The accommodation was unfaultable as the rooms were spacious with TVs and electronic devices that you may of needed to use! Cleanliness was 100% unfaultable as there was always cleaners about whether it be in rooms or public areas, for us the nicest part of the maid service was fresh flowers being arranged on the beds amongst your night wear and on work surfaces!

All in all a great holiday, with lots to do, already planning a return trip maybe even for more than one next year!

Just come back from a superb one week all inclusive holiday to magic life, Penelope Beach in Djerba. My family, 2 girls 9&7, my wife and I had decided to book this months ago as a late sunny break for October half term. We were not disappointed. We read all the reviews beforehand so had a good idea what was in store for us. The weather was fantastic all week, at least 30 degrees, and you get around 10-11 hours of sunshine which is perfect.

Bedroom was ample spaced with 2 bathrooms (we had a bungalow room) and 2 double beds which worked really well. Tea making facility in the room and a drinks fridge which is stocked free daily. Obviously, you never drink the tap water.

Food all week was amazing, all freshly cooked with different themes daily. Don't panic if you're children are fussy like mine, they always has pizza, pasta, salad and plenty of treats such as bog standard ice creams with cones so my girls were pleased.

Plenty of different pools to relax around with an aqua park or the beach if you prefer. On the private beach was the banana boat and canoeing or if you fancy parasailing or jet skiing then you can pay around £40 for a family.

Evening entertainment was very good with a different show every night, or you can relax around the bar and play cards, table football or pool if you want something different. It was great not having to worry about money either it being all inclusive. I must say we did want to get out of the complex to see a bit of Djerba itself. We want with Ali babas quad bikes which was 120 Dinar (£44) 2 hours non stop amazing scenery and something different, the kids loved it.

Yes Tunisia is a poor country and you do see litter and rubbish knocking about. Yes there are a few people that will come up to you and ask if you want to buy some of their jewellery etc. don't be naive this is what happens in countries like this. Don't let it put you off you can just say no thank you!!!

Overall, great holiday and a big thank you to all the staff at club magic life from the Madgwick family. We hope to be back at some point!!!
