“Sandy Beach next to Katapola”
Review of Maltezi

Sandy beach in and out of the water, clear water, not windy, beach bar selling also sadwiches but dont expect to find a WC, few sun beds and plenty of space for towels on the beach. All these during August high season. During midday is getting a little crowded
How to reach the beach:
10 min away by boat with a small fee every hour from Katapola port or ~25min by foot from Katapola through a beautiful pathway in Xilokeratidi area and next to the sea.

Generally Amorgos is too windy. Maltezi is a blessing in such case as the wind is blocked from the mountains on both sides. The beach is wonderful and clean. But Its again private beach, with sun beds paying 3 euros each bed, ofcourse no reciepts (Black money) and for toilet(namesake). It has something very dirty, when asked the owner, he says its Governments responsibility to keep it clean and good.

Yes, you charge customers 3 euros per bed, but for toilet you wait person from Government to come and clean. The State clearly states, do not pay any money if you do not recieve a reciept for the payment. Its the illegal money they get by tax evasion. No doubt greece will never come out of crisis.
Nobody accepts any type of cards, only CASH, and without reciepts mostly. Avoid it, protests, speak, spread this awareness, we can try to bring a change, i love greece very much and wish it will change one day.

On Amorgos there are not a lot of sandy beaches. Otherwise no one would do the effort to walk half an hour from Katapola to this beach. The third week of september the beach cafe was already abandoned and the chairs were spread over the beach. The Pandeleimonos chapel near Maltezi is well worth the walk.

Beautiful waters and no wind! Very easy to get to from the port as well, the little boats where going every hour and taking us back every hour. Also all the locals where very helpful.
