“Home away from home”

I absolutely loved Villa Marandi. The hotel is located in a very beautiful place, close to Naxos town and all the beautiful beaches. We got the standard room, and it was perfect, with nice furniture and decor, and a large terace, with views of the grounds and sea. The staff is also amazing. Everybody tried their best to make us feel at home. We ate at the restaurant several times, and the food is great, very tasty, with large portions, medium priced. The beach near the hotel is very nice, but it is difficult to get in the water. I would recommend to rent a car and see all the beautiful beaches 5 minutes drive from the hotel. I would like to thank Anna and George (and lovely Leon), and everyone at Villa Marandi!

Four days at Villa Marandi made us wish for many more. This small collection of white two-story buildings is located at the end of a dirt road, 10 minutes by car from the main port, Chora and only 10 minutes further south to the great beaches of Agios Prokopios, Agia Anna and Plaka. A rental car, arranged by and delivered to the hotel, is necessary since this is a relatively isolated location, although a very pleasant place in which to relax by the pool, share a drink under the arbor-covered dining area or read a good book on your terrace. Their beach is on a windy stretch of sand that can be very inviting in the right conditions, however, some of the Greek Island’s best beaches are minutes away and offer sunbeds, umbrellas, beach-side dining or, at the more remote ends and further afield, blissful solitude.

Our room was one of the honeymoon suites on an upper level with a separate living room, small but adequate bathroom and kitchenette. The terrace is enormous and overlooks the bay and Chora, in the distance.

It would be a shame not to explore the island. It has a fertile, mountainous interior with centuries-old olive groves, sleepy mountain villages and historic fortresses built and rebuilt by successive waves of Venetian, Roman, Turkish and Persian invaders. Trucks stacked with sacks of Naxian potatoes rumble through the countryside and tiny white churches sit improbably on the craggiest peaks.

With Villa Marandi as your base, the entire island offers many destinations that are easy day trips, with a wonderful, locally sourced meal as a reward upon your return. When you read through the reviews, it is obvious that the immensely courteous and helpful staff is a vital part of the formula for its success. Add to this the excellent rooms, intimate dining experience and proximity to seaside amenities, a stay at the Villa Marandi is a thoroughly winning proposition.

My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary in Greece, spending time in Athens, Santorini and Crete... we enjoyed them all; however one of our favorite places was the Villa Marandi on Naxos. Down a dirt road and behind a beautiful wooden door on the non commercial side of the island is Villa Marandi. The small and intimate setting allows you to feel both 'away from it all' at the same time the staff that makes you feel like part of their family. Our every need was met and our expectations were exceeded. Their small private beach is beautiful and quiet and their property is a short 15 - 20 min walk to the larger, busier beaches... as well as a quick drive into Naxos. It was the perfect place to celebrate!

Room Tip: We loved our junior suite upstairs and facing the sea... we had a private patio and veranda.

We stayed at Villa Marandi for 6 nights in July 2014. The reception staff were extremely helpful and flexible when I needed to change our booking dates. We travelled with our 13 year old and 11 year old and the rooms were ideal for us. We ate at the restaurant every night of our stay and enjoyed the food especially the moussaka, the fish and the feta wrapped in fill (yum!). The breakfast was plentiful and very varied. During the day the staff suggested interesting towns and beaches to visit. The rental car was dropped to and picked up from the hotel. The only tip I have is if you are coming to and/from Athens make sure you book the flights early as the plane is tiny and spaces fill up.

Very nice place to stay. Very friendly staff and wonderful restaurant and bar. Try the grilled octopus! It is a little out of town but they will call you a cab. There is a nice beach and pool to enjoy.

Villa Marandi was a perfect stay in Naxos. Slightly removed from the city center, you can look out onto the sea and lights of the city. The staff was great, they were there to helping with any possible need, or question we had. Rental car was delivered right to the hotel in the morning, and picked up when we were finished with it. The staff was knowledgeable, and great with recommendations. The restaurant was GREAT! No need to venture out to the city for food, the chef was there for meal times. Taxi were coordinated through the front desk, and they use the nicest vehicle on the island. Pretty snazzy. When I return to Naxos, this will be my choice for a hotel.

Paradise

Our first trip to Naxos turned out to be an absolute wonder, in no small part due to the wonderful Villa Mirandi and its warm, family. George and his unbelievable team made us feel so special. The location and amenities are spectacular!! The grounds, beach , pool, bar, restaurant, rooms are faultless! We are so excited to return to Naxos and VM one day (SOON). We really miss everyone already.
