“Relax and enjoy.......”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2013

This hotel is 5* but unfortunately some of the Guest are not !!!

They did not seem to respect the dress codes ,leaving towels drying and hanging over balconies and eating so much food, that makes dinning with them, extremely off putting.!!
There were lots of young babies/ children there but this Hotel is not suitable for any thing older then about 5, as there is not alot for them to do .

The food is amazing quality, the place is beautifully manicured, rooms exceptional clean and well maintained , staff helpful and friendly but not over the top.

The Spa Treatments and area are professional and of the highest quality.Athena and her team of Beauty Therapist are well trained, polite, professional and approachable and I would recommend that this area is unitised as much as possible during anyones stay and it is money well spent, relaxing is understatement and a complete experience .(Unfortunately again , Guest thought it was OK to let Children in this adult area but this was soon rectified, by the staff.

The piped music in The hotel can be a bit nauseating after a while but that would be my only minor complaint.

Room Tip: Check what types of beds are in the room .We would have preferred a Double bed and ended up with Tw...

I stayed at Avra Imperial for about one week with my wife and two children. We had hoped the hotel would be fun for our two children of 9 and 13 years, but we were wrong. Here is why.

Location: Kolimbari, where the hotel is located, is close to be in the middle of nowhere. Basically a handfull of restaurants, a couple of snackbars and souvenir shops and that's it for this town. You need to take a bus ride for about 20 minutes (add to this about 10-20 minutes waiting for the bus) to Platanias for something to do. If I knew, I would have stayed in Platanias instead. Nothing for my children to do in the city.

Hotel: The hotel is new and has good and spacious rooms. It has got a miniland (for the smallest children - I'd say for children less that 8 years old), swimming pools, and tennis courts. The swimming pools have two different depths - 30 cm and 140 cm. For our 9 year old 30 cm depth is borring and 140 cm is not an option. Thus the swimming pools were a disappointment as seen from 9 y.o.'s view. The tennis courts are okay, but not as a full day activity. They have a youth club also, with activities such as water polo. However only grown up men playing (in 140 cm water depth), so you don't want to toss your child in there. No other activities for children.

Spa: They have a spa, but no children are allowed. Again, nothing really for children to do in this hotel.

Restaurant: Although the service is not what you would expect on a 5-star hotel, the food is very good (although I came down with a bad stomach ache on the first night). It seems that the staff is overworked, and is not trained properly. For example it happened too often, that no beverages would be served until done eating. We saw this happen to many of the guests. Other example: Ask for three teas and you'd get one. But again, the food is really good, and that can take away some of the problems with the serving.

Reception: Generally okay. However one time we asked for some help regarding a sightseeing tour we'd like to go on. It was advertised in the brochure from the sightseeing company, that tickets could be bought in our hotel. However noone in the hotel reception knew about this. However the receptionist was kind to call them for more information about booking details. The answers he got was not enough, so we asked him for more information. Thus he had to phone again, resulting in a big sigh from him. This is not okay.

Wifi: The hotel offers wifi. But at best it was slow. Other times timeout or simply could not logon to hotel wifi at all.

Cleaning: Fine, no complaints there.

I think that would be all for now.

We stayed at Avra Imperial for 2 weeks in June 2012. They have a amazing big pool in the center with glass walls and a lot of private and shared pools with the water falling down to the center. We had a room with a shared private pool, it was very nice and fun for the kids. The overall construction and look of the hotel is really amazing, a 5 star.
Meals were very good, but you may get a bit tried of it after 7 days. We were missing that you can have lunch in the pool bar with All inclusive.
Public areal and rooms was very clean and staff very professional and friendly.
The Beach is with a lot of small stones and gets deep quickly, not the best place to play for kids.
The Wifi was good in the public areal, but not in the rooms.

Avra Imperial is a great hotel & spa. We stayed here twice now. Last summer was great too. The weather is just perfect.I recommend this to all my friends. They will really love the spa here.

The whole area is just perfect. Everything seems to be near. Just a minute walk, you will arrived at the beach. Their food is great too.

I recommend to rent a car, so you can travel around. There are some nice sandy beach that is very near to this hotel. Its also near to the city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with own swimming pool

We went for a week beginning of August which meant a lot of Scandinavians (last week of the school holidays after a nasty summer in Northern Europe).
Hotel was clean, new, very well kept, amazing pool (if only a bit over crowded), meals were very good, buffet style with a fair selection of local produce, thanks a lot. Wifi not so good, we were only able to capture the neigbouring hotel from our room. Beach is a shingle beach, so don't expect long walks barefoot or even with shoes, and the sea was pretty rough when we went, definitely not for children, but then again, the pool was amazing.....
The personnel was very kind indeed and had to work very hard, especially at the restaurant.
The all-in formula is interesting, but if you can, try some of the restaurants at the little port close by, especially the first one, when taking the beach from the hotel, is well worth a visit
