“Maybe best in Kolymbari”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

This is the best of those I tried in Kolymbari. It is OK, and seafood great. However other dishes was not so impressive, so I would say the restaurant is about on average for Greek standards. The locations is great, by the sea.

“The best restaurant!”
Reviewed June 29, 2012

We recently stayed in Maleme and had heard very good reviews about this restaurant, so decided to take a trip to Kolymbari. So glad that we did because we had the best meals by far - one lunch and one evening meal.

The setting and standard of service and food were superb. In particular the seafood plate was delicious and the meatballs in ouzo sauce were divine.

This was a very busy restaurant but the staff seemed relaxed and in control. The owner took the time to come and make conversation and make us feel welcome, even providing a complimentary drink and dessert.

Highly recommended.

“The Very Best!”
Reviewed May 21, 2012

We dined twice at this restaurant during a 7 night break in Western Crete.

The staff were extremely friendly, the food was excellant quality and value - hence returning for our final dinner of the holiday in spite of being all inclusive at our hotel - the dinners the hotel served were great but it was nice to visit the port area of Kolymbari.

3 courses with medium priced bottle of wine averaged about EUR25 per head. The fresh bread basket with dips at the start of the meal, as well as the complimentary raki and pudding added to the welcoming atmosphere. Families on holiday with young children as well as couples like us and some locals too were all diners. I got the sense that the other restaurants in the area were maybe a little jealous of this one as it was full both nights. you could dress up or go casual and not feel out of place as there is no pretense that I could feel.

The final evening the restaurant was full, and there were just 3 staff but there was no delay nor feeling rush inspite of what must have been a panic in the kitchen. Nor was the quality of food compromised.

So the food ( it's a big menu )

Mushrooms with feta and thyme - faultless
Stuffed pepper - amazing
Grilled mixed vegetables - lovely with the greek salad

Mixed meat grill is enormous and would be plentiful for 4 people rather than 2
Mixed seafood speghetti was divine
Fillet steak with pepper sauce - cooked perfectly but lots of whole peppercorns in the sauce so quite hot

Strawberries and cream - can't go wrong!
Honey cake dessert that I am not sure the name of but was fab

Wine - both times we had the Cretan Melot and it was lovely.

Yes - we eat out a lot and I can honestly say this is in my top 5 all time meals amongst Michelin stars etc. Very much recommended.

“!!!! It is every year something special to come here for a dinner !!!!”
Reviewed October 10, 2011

I come to crete since 1991 ! I like the cretan food very much ! But whereever you go to eat something, after two weeks you have enough, because it is nearly everywhere the same...
Souflaki, french fries and some frozen vegetables !! ( for example )

BUT NOT IN MY FAVORITE " PALIO ARHONTIKO " !!!!

You come in, and you are surprised of this nice atmosphere !
Everything is other than in the other restaurants ! You get selfmade hot bread for starting, every plate with food is an artwork, and everything is real fresh !!! And you get every day something other special for dessert ! And the owner Vassilis lifes her job, you can feel it every day !
Taste it, you will go out with a smile on your face ( and after 2 weeks with some more kilos ) !
And its very nice to sit outside, 6 meters from the nice sea, and see the beautiful skyline from kolimbari to chania when the sun goes down ! VERY NICE PLACE !!

Thank you Vassilis for all these nice evenings,

from Anna, Kiana and Pierre
