“Fantasic Family Stay!”
Reviewed August 21, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We have just arrived home from a fantastic 2 week stay at Villa Mytia and totally agree with the previous comments on this site, what a wonderful stay.

From the moment we booked our stay, George and his family have been so helpful and accommodating from helping with our car hire to sending helpful guides and information about the island and local area. We were greeted on arrival for a tour and to taste some amazing greek cooking by George's mother (pre arranged over email). We enjoyed a few meals arranged by George in this way and the family also very generously brought gifts of a yummy dessert and a lovely bottle of wine.

As a party consisting of 2 families with yound children, we found the villa to be spacious and spotlessly clean. We were impressed with the cleaning and change of towels and bedding every 3 days - even beach towels provided were changed. Kitchen well equipped. The photos above do not show the new modern canopy over the eating area which is a lovely addition to the villa.

There is everything you need within walking distance as stated on previous comments. We enjoyed 2 meals in the village square where our children could play and we could enjoy a glass of wine! We also ate out in Rethymnon which is well worth a visit.

It was lovely to spend days at the villa lounging by the pool and letting the children play freely, we did spend a few days at a lovely beach (a recommendation from George) and we made the trip to AquaPlus waterpark which was a brilliant day out!

All in all a fantasitic holiday and we hope to visit again!

“Absolutely Lovely”
Reviewed June 3, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We booked this Villa Myrtia as a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint - it was lovely, clean and very comfortable. From the moment we made the booking George went out of his way to be helpful and make our stay as easy as possible. He was there to welcome us on arrival and ensured we had everything we needed for a great stay. The Villa itself is in a fab location, a few minutes walk to the local supermarket and bakery. There are also a couple of Taverna's that served excellent home cooked Greek food that we even managed to get our 3 children to eat! Its a short drive to Rethymnon which was really easy to get too as well as a number of gorgeous beaches.

Attention to detail was great with good quality sheets and bedding as well as good supply of towels for both the pool and showering. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, pots and pans required for cooking.

We stayed for 5 nights and in that time the villa was cleaned and new towels/sheets provided. We all loved it here and cannot recommend it enough - we will most certainly be back next year and would definitely stay for 2 weeks.

“AMAZING”
Reviewed September 17, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Just arrived back from staying in the villa Myrtia, I can't praise the villa, location,& Crete enough. We all had an amazing time. From contacting George at the start of the booking, he couldn't have been more helpful. He arranged the car hire for us, (which was very reasonable). And helped with all other enquiries we had. When we arrived at the villa he welcomed us with local biscuits, sweets and raki. The villa was immaculate, and everything we had wished for. The first evening we ate in the local taverna. It was very quaint and when the bill came and it was 32€ including wine for 4 of us we couldn't believe it! The house was cleaned every 3 days, and it was so lovely to come back to the villa in the evening and refresh in the poolT traveled around quite a lot visiting some beautiful places, Samaria Gorge, Elafonisi, Balos Bay, Loutro and Skinaria beach to name but a few, and spent many evenings strolling round the narrow streets of Rethymno. We came back one day to find George's mum had made us a cheese cake, it was delicious! On the final day George came to say goodbye and gave us some pictures made by his mother it was so touching.
We have never experienced anything like this before, we will certainly be returning.
Thank you Crete (& George and family) you were amazing!

“Fanstastic family holiday”

We stayed at the Villa Myrtia in August for two weeks with another family. The villa is amazing - a real home from home - and beautifully presented by George and his mother Maria. We were welcomed warmly by George very late at night and made to feel special throughout our stay, whilst at the same time being left to enjoy the wonderful, private facilities. Atsipopoulo is a small, charming village with everything you could wish for literally a stones throw from the bottom of the private drive. The bakery serves wonderful freshly baked goods and there are two well stocked supermarkets within a two minute walk. There is a takeaway and tavernas here too.The larger town of Rethmino is a ten minute drive and is ideal for restaurants and shopping if you can drag yourself away from your own pool! We ate really well and very cheaply too. We visited Souda Bay for the Commonwealth War Graves and had a lovely time at nearby Lake Kournas and local beaches, but the real star of the holiday was the villa run by a genuinely warm and charming family for whom nothing was too much trouble. We all have every intention of returning next year and heartily recommend Villa Myrtia on the wonderful island of Crete.

“Absolutely great Villa, and the most helpful of owners”

My family and myself stayed in Villa Myrtia for 8 days, and it was absolutely wonderful. Prior to our arrival, George, the owner was extremely helpful and sorted our airport transfers out for us. He was there to meet us at the villa when we arrived with biscuits and the local drink, Raki and was very helpful and informative about the local village and area.
The villa itself was spotless, and the pictures on the website don't do it justice. It has been beautifully built in a traditional style, and all the rooms were clean, spacious and bright. The pool was also beautifully kept and there were ample sunbeds around the patio for everyone.
The local village is so quaint, and has everything you may need; a couple of supermarkets, a bakery, pharmacy and also a few restaurants. We asked George to recommend one for dinner one night, and we weren't disappointed ( I am not sure of the name, but it is the one by the church with all the tables in the square) The food was delicious, fresh, and the portions were huge! Our family of six had a three course dinner with drinks for under 60 Euro.
The villa is also close to Rethymno which is definitely worth a visit!
George also surprised us with a homemade dessert and some beautiful gifts made by his mother on our last night.
Overall, we were extremely happy with our stay, and Georges care and attention really made our holiday special. We will surely be recommending it to our friends and family, and will definitely be returning ourselves.

George was extremely helpful by e-mail before the holiday & this continued during our stay - arranging transport to/from the airport & trips at very reasonable rates, arranging meals, giving advice & surprise gifts! The villa is lovely, tastefully renovated & very comfortable with all mod cons. Astipopolou is a very welcoming genuine Cretan village yet with supermarkets, ladies salon, gym, bookshop, tavernas, cafes, patisserie & ice cream parlour - while being close to Rethmono, only 1.20 euro on the bus.
