My husband and I have just returned from a holiday in East Crete staying in Milatos. If you want a get away from it all holiday with peace and quiet and nothing else, it's the place for you, if you don't, then don't go!!! A traditional old Cretan village with a couple of tavernas, the best one was "Makis" in the square, There are several tavernas by the sea which is about a 20 minute walk from the village. Don't forget to visit "Stasi Kafeneion" where Brian and Michelle will give you a warm welcome. It's at Milatos village and is on the main village road from the crossroads in Milatos heading up the hill towards Neapoli. It's on the left as you leave the village so don't pass it by. Stop for a drink or a tasty snack, Michelle wont send you away hungry! If you just want a drink and a chat, they are happy to join you inbetween serving the locals with their traditional Greek coffee. They are also always willing to help travellers who have lost their way too!!!............Call in whether you are staying there or just passing by, we did and we don't regret it......Julie and Malcolm...West Yorkshire.....June 2013.
