Description: At Mimmi's you can taste delicious pasta dishes, roast meat cooked in a wood fired oven, meat grilled over an open fire, vegetables from our garden, "dolci della casa", accompanied by good wines. At Mimmi's you will find a friendly and expansive atmosphere and genuine Tuscan and Umbrian cookery. To avoid disappointment it is advisable to book a table. Mimmi also offers lessons in making her delicious pasta dishes.

All of our meal at Mimmi was amazing, but the pasta was the best I have ever eaten. Mezzaluna ravioli with courgette flowers, lasagne, and spinach and ricotta tortellini. Some of my family are allergic to cheese so they made us an extra tagliatelle ragu which was beautiful. Crostini, melon with parma ham and a meat course also, as much wine as we wanted and all 30 euro a head.

Worth searching out!!!!

Hotel / Restaurant Mimmi has been going for many years. I have stayed in the hotel which is quite basic but adequate for a night or two. The restaurant features a very pleasant dining room overlooking mature gardens. The antipasti is typical italian but plenty of it. There are usually 2 or 3 different pasta dishes available and I have never been disappointed with Mimmi's home-made pasta, light and tasty. There is no menu so not the place for fussy eaters. I tend to avoid any meat dishes mostly because there is so much pasta but also the meat tends to be over cooked (typical Italian).

This restaurant serves the most melt in the mouth pasta you will ever eat. We have eaten there every time we have visited Umbria, often driving well over an hour to get there. The restaurant is in the village of Mercale which sits on the Tuscany Umbria border in the Niccone valley. We drive there saying it can't possibly be as good as last time , but it is. On this last visit we had delicious crostini, ham and melon, followed by the awe inspiring spinach and ricotta cannelonni and lasagne, we then chose grilled pork (we could have had beef or turkey) with roast potatoes and grilled vegtables. Tiramisu, coffee and two jugs of wine (they have bottles if you'd rather) and for 4 of us it came to 140 Euros. We went on a Tuesday evening, and although it was quiet we let them know we would be coming. They do speak English but it does feel like a truly authentic Italian food experience where the quality of the food and careful seasoning shines through.

Come to this unassuming local restaurant prepared to be fed plate after plate of the most delicious Italian food. There is no menu and you are served whatever delights the kitchen turns out. The food just keeps on coming from an anti pasta of melon and ham to a beautifully delicate lasagne. This is followed by local roasted meat and vegetables and then finally to top it all off, panacotta and tiramisu. Be warned: come hungry!
The layout of the restaurant is traditional with old fashioned style wood tables and chairs and a wonderful view out of the large open window. The service is really attentive and you won't have to rely on any basic Italian as they speak good English.
All this comes down to under €30 per head including a large jug of local red or White wine.

Try Mimmi's for an Italian food experience. The pasta is so light and very tasty. Family run restaurant, with good red wine! makes for a good value evening.
