“Don't Go!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2012

This hotel is as hard to find as it is to pronounce. My recommendation would be that, if you have spent more than 5 minutes searching for it, give up, forfeit any money you’ve forked out and start looking for a hotel that deserves a 4 star rating.
We booked 2 rooms in this hotel 6 months ago for my wife and I and 2 friends. We had read on Tripadvisor about the problems people had encountered with the air conditioning and so we rang in advance to ensure that it was working. Due to unforseen circumstances we were delayed on our day of arrival and so rang again to explain that we would not be arriving until around midnight. We were confidently informed that this we be no problem and that there would be someone there to greet us. On finally arriving we were infact greeted with a note left on reception and one room key. The note was to the effect that there was only one room available and hopefully this would not be an inconvenience. With no other choice we decided that we would have to share. There was a single convertible chair in addition to the double bed. On trying to convert it to a bed the leg fell off and so in the end our friends had to sleep on the floor on a mixture of a mattress and some cushions that we borrowed from a seating area outside the room.
How can I describe the room. The air conditioning certainly worked – extremely loudly. The problem was that there were no controls on the unit and we tried in vain to find the thermostat. The only way that we were able to get to sleep was to switch off the fuse box. The décor was grubby white with not a picture on the wall. On opening the 1970’s cupboard we found exposed electrics within reach of any inquisitive child. We had a TV but strangely the plug would not fit in the socket. The hotel has a great system for the cleaners whereby they can plug their vacuum cleaners into a connector in the wall. Unfortunately the vacuum operates as soon as you open the cover cap and this again would pose a hazard to any small child. Cobwebs, cracks in the wall, mould in the shower and bright red taps completed our first impressions of the hotel. To cap it all, my friends wife refused to get undressed in front of me but I’m not totally sure that I can blame the hotel for this.
Needless to say we had a fairly uncomfortable night and woke late just in time to get down before they finished serving breakfast. We’d read that the breakfast wasn’t all that so were not expecting anything special. We weren’t disappointed. The choice is minimal and the picture we’ve posted of the cold fried eggs speaks volumes. The saving grace, as many people have pointed out is the view. We took our meagre breakfast and found a very pleasant spot at the edge of the balcony affording the best views of the lake. A waiter came up to us and announced authoritatively “you may sit here today but no more. These tables are for the golfers”. No golfers were to be seen.
Having had our breakfast we decided to tackle the receptionist to see what compensation we were due for there only being one room on our first night. We were offered a bottle of wine or a round of drinks as compensation. Although we all felt that this was totally inadequate, having paid in advance we were in a weak position to bargain. In the end we agreed to a bottle of wine. I looked at the wine list and picked one at 35 Euros. Not unreasonable I thought but this was greeted with raised eyebrows. Eventually we were given 2 bottles of an inferior wine as we were told the one we had requested was not available. It is worth pointing out that the reception doubles up as the booking in desk for the golf course and this can lead to long delays in getting anything done as in the 4 days that we were there we never saw more than 1 person on reception (and often no one at all).
The whole of the hotel is shabby with the smell of a poorly kept nursing home in the corridors. The pool looked permanently cloudy and there was explicit graffiti on the wall next to the pool table that was there for the whole of our stay.
In an effort to be reasonable in this review I would say that the bed was comfortable and if you could ignore the mould, the shower was hot and powerful. Other than that there is little to recommend this hotel and at best I would rate it as 2 star. For those that have given reviews with 4/5 I would say that you are being grossly unfair to future visitors who might choose to ignore the rightly negative nature of the vast majority of comments.
Photos of the ancient air conditioning, exposed electrics, graffiti etc. have been uploaded for your pleasure.

Worst hotel ever. Do not go! No air conditioning working in any room (ac from the 1950's), really old stuff, old shower, no window that you can open, breakfast horrible, noise from the bar/nightclub until 2am. Better to go to a 1st star. I am sure you sleep better that I and my family did in this one. Non andare, no vayais, ne pas y aller, do not go!

Before staying at this hotel I read the reviews and I was quite worried. Yes,it is true it is in need of updating but this really was not a problem. In contrast to the newer hotels, our room was much larger, we had two beds, a desk, fridge, double wardrobe, set of drawers & bedside lockers, three chairs and a fold-up bed. Plenty of room. On our holiday 4 of us went and there was plenty of room for 4 in our room for night-time chats. The windows actually opened (something you don't get in the modern hotels). The bathroom was spacious and included a bidet. Most importantly, the rooms were clean and the staff friendly. Breakast was fine, not a huge choice but we all had what we wanted, I would have liked more fruit but, again, not a problem. Because this was a golf hotel (none of us played golf) it never seemed to get busy (the other guests were all out playing). the restaurant was acceptable, we only stayed in once to eat and, like most hotels, was expensive. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Hotel is located top of a very long and steep hill so a car is essential. Terrific views.
