Not only do you eat well but you also get to help Federico in his work helping disadvantaged young people.
Forget the menu and rely on Federico's recommendation. This will result in at least 10 antipasti dishes, each with their own story of where they come from and who made the dish originally - don't miss the Venetian sardines by his Mother or the curry "Valerio" made by a family friend in the 60s,- absolutely delicious. All very interesting and of a high standard. He recommended a local wine from Montecarlo (near Lucca, not the other one) which was very good. The mixed grill which followed - we did not have room for pasta - was fantastic with zucchini flowers and other vegetables accompanying it. With water & coffee and a sweet 3 of us dined like kings for 60 Euros.
This has to be the bargain of the season! Don't miss it,

We found this restaurant on trip advisor and decided to visit on our last night near Massarosa. We were really glad we booked as so many people dropped by and could not get a table. Frederico was a perfect host, advising us on what to order. We opted for a mixed selection of starters followed by the best pasta we have tasted. All the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly and Frederico supports the local community too.
Pay this pace a visit, it is well worth it!

Very beautiful evening, suited for a romantic dinner, but also for a larger group of friends or the entire family. The food is excellent, and the prices are more then reasonable. I enjoyed a lot the atmosphere they create, with diffuse light, red candels and natural roses. Very particular!

Found this restaurant through Tripadvisor and decided to eat there on our last night in Italy. We were welcomed by Frederico who, together with his colleagues, made it a very enjoyable evening with great, real Italian, food. We asked him to surprise us and then he served us first with 10 different types of anti-pasta - small bites that all tasted delicious.
After this we got served 3 big dishes of various kinds of pasta which also tasted beautiful. There was only one big problem - it was way too much. After the anti-pasta we were already completely full so we couldn't eat enough of the main dish.
Al of this was served with a delicious bottle of wine (and soda's for the kids). Finsihed with coffee and ice creams.
When we then asked for the bill this was also a surprise compared to all the fastfood pizza restaurants on the boulevard of Viareggio. We even had to convince Frederico to let us pay a normal price and not give us any special treatments.

All in all - don't miss out on this great restaurant.

We were recommended by our apartments which were walking distance, we'd stayed near sienna, near lucca and last 2 nights in Massarosa. This was without doubt the best meal and best value. The host Frederico told us that his main role as a business owner is to help people less fortunate than himself therefore he employs staff who have perhaps had a harder life or have other issues. Very honourable. He then brought out various foods for us to try and everything was exceptional and local to Tuscany, from chicken salad in delicious dressing to a plate of various starters including onion flan and vegetable pastry's. he then brought us a beautiful tortellini dish with different meats and it was amazing. He chatted to us like friends and talked to the children. Lots of locals dined there which is always a good sign. The building is a 300 year old oil mill and its stunning with a lot of the original features, sadly they've built an over pass nearby but this does not detract from restaurant at all. The meal was exceptional value and if we were even an hour away we would make a trip especially to this eatery. Just fabulous.
