“Making chocolate Truffles at Baci Perugina!”
Reviewed July 20, 2014

If you love chocolate and are in Perugina I highly recommend a stop at the Baci Perugina Chocolate Factory. You can have a tour or the plant, taste chocolates, watch a movie about the history of Baci Perugina and tour the chocolate museum. I visited and had a lovely tour with Italian speaking guides, but there are English guides too of course. The high light of my visit was making Chocolate truffles with the master chocolate chef. You can book parties for the Perugina Chocolate School to become chocolatiers for a day. It is a wonderfully sweet hands on opportunity to create your very own chocolates!

“The world of chocolate!”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

We booked the factory tour for a summer Friday afternoon. You need reservations and English tours are at limited times. To get there you can take the coach that picks up people in Perugia or drive to the factory in San Sisto which we chose to do. They have covered parking that supports solar panels close to the entrance. Perugina was purchased by Nestle in 1988 but the only place in the world the famous Baci are made is here in Italy because their standards are higher for chocolate are higher and the original owners did not want quality to suffer. While waiting you are free to visit the museum and chocolate store, use the restroom or sample Nespresso. The tour begins with a ten minute video on the origins of chocolate and the rise of Perugina, an informative guided tour of the museum, a tasting sampler and then a walk through the factory on a catwalk that allows you to view the factory floor. We were there on Friday afternoon and the only line working was the Baci line, but they reduced the price of the tour accordingly. Our guide was excellent and patient, she answered questions well and dealt with unruly children with grace. This is not an interactive tour and children should be old enough to listen quietly. The surprise fact: Did you know they make Baci with a cherry rather than a hazelnut?

“Tour was fun, but somewhat limited”
Reviewed June 6, 2014

We had been recommended to try the Perugina Chocolate Factory tour, and we made an afternoon reservation for an English language tour. Our tour guide was very good, and spoke decent English, but she had to contend with a group that was a bit too large, and had too many out of control children in it. Made it difficult for her to talk over all the babble. Her explanation of the history of chocolate and the factory were interesting. The movies shown were a bit stilted, but did provide some understanding of the process for making chocolate. The tour through the factory is in an enclosed walkway. You see a lot of machinery - only a portion of which was in operation when we were there because they cut production in the summer when there is less local demand in Italy for chocolate. And, of course, there is a portion of the tour where you get to taste about ten different types of chocolate that Perugina markets - that was very good.

“Chocolates Baci”
Reviewed May 5, 2014

Must see and must taste Baci
We have been with a group of colleagues from faculty and we had a real fun. There is a tour that presents the production process, the Museum and the chocolate shop where you can buy these amazing chocolates called Baci.
