We stayed at the Calibe Hotel in August 2013 having travelled a gruelling 26 hours on a National Holidays coach.
Whilst the view from the hotel was breathtaking the rest of the hotel was nowhere near the expectations we have come to expect from a National Holidays hotel.
The meals were a combination of pork with a different sauce served with cold vegetables every dinner time.
The hotel is grossly understaffed with 3 people attempting to serve 50 guests, they did try their best but it was not a very good experience for anyone.
The hotlel is isolated from anywhere so you cant even go out for a meal instead of eating in the hotel.
If National had informed us of the hotel we would be staying in prior to our depature we would have asked for a different one.
I recommend you read the reviews on the hotels you are going to before travelling.

Staying at Hotel Caribe situated on the lake and also surrounded with fantastic views of the mountains

Shearings drivers Paul & Lesley were fantastic - Very competent drivers, attentive, helpful, cheerful & friendly

Journey long but that was expected - go prepared - Plenty of rest stops

Bedrooms spotless, towels changed every day. Views from balcony-amazing. Air Con, Safe & Bidet - bonus!

Hotel a little way out but after visiting other towns & cities enjoyed just relaxing by pool or on veranda or seating terrace with glass of wine.

The Restaurant has wonderful panoramic views of lake & mountains and even if you are not seated at windows these can still be seen.

4 x courses served were pasta, soup, meat & on odd occasion fish & sweet. Tended to ask fellow diners “what is it” when dishes arrived but I tried it all - my motto “when in Rome do as the Romans do” various salad & roast potatoes too so never hungry...what more can I ask!

Miguel & Juliette-very hard working, as where all the staff, helpful, friendly and always smiling.

“FREE BAR” 8pm-11pm-wine & larger good quality & very drinkable ha ha ha! Unless alcoholic u should have no problem having adequate amounts of booze in time span. Noone queued for unreasonable amounts of time & for my non-drinking Fiancé lovely coffee mocha or cappuccino

All in all we had a wonderful holiday made even better by the lovely people we met and made friends with on our tour...... Thanks everyone x

Room Tip: Most rooms have lake view just ask at reception

We visited this hotel with a group of 42. The welcome was warm, friendly and very efficient.
Rooms were large, clean and exceeded expectations of most guests. Most were overlooking the lake giving spectacular views. The location is perfect (unless you wish to be in a town) and in that case, why would you book a hotel somewhere you don't want to be ? (£50 saving on your holiday does not change the location of your hotel !) The group had an included bar every evening which makes the holiday unbelievable value. Drinks are not the usual all inclusive small plastic glasses but ones which you would find in a very smart bar. High quality wine was served in beautiful glasses to be enjoyed on the terrace or by the poolside. The food is typical Italian, salad starter, pasta, meat or fish with potatoes followed by a sweet or ice cream. The service is not rushed, in fact for those whose day is planned around consuming as many free drinks from the bar as they can, it feels slow. Others enjoy chatting with others over dinner in the dining room which has views to impress all but the committed miserable brigade. Our meal was interrupted by a very rude man standing over us called Allen Cook. He loudly ranted to us that the chef needed taking out to the middle of the lake and drowned. Bizarrely the following morning at 6.30 AM before our day out to Venice he came with his chair in hand to "tell us a story" over breakfast ! He was a little embarrassed and offended when told we did not want to hear "his story" and left. Most other stories we had heard from him were somewhat perverted in their connection with ogling young women in their bathing suits .......... not the choice for an early breakfast. It seems a grudge has been held enough to write unpleasant and personal comments on this review !
For sensible people who enjoy visiting up to six new places a week, staying in a stunning location, meeting new people and being friendly to their hard working hosts at a lovely hotel...... this is a great value holiday ! ps. Travelling by coach from England through France, Switzerland and into Italy cannot be done in a few hours !

Had a wonderful holiday here with national holidays on their lake garda and Venice holiday in July. Accommodation was excellent, had a room facing onto the lake. The food was ok, plenty of it but a bit slow service, would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking lake.

Hotel Caribe Lake Garda

We found the hotel to be in a beautiful location on the very hedge of the lake, only a road to cross or under pass to go under and your there. Most of the rooms have a stunning view across the lake and distant mountains. To wake up and walk out on to your balcony and gaze on this is fantastic.
Our room was a very good size and very clean and we could not fault it. No tea making facilities so I would advice taking a travel kettle. There is air conditioning in the rooms, (for this to work you have to keep the balcony door closed and locked) plus a safe which you will have to pay a 10€ deposit for but you get this back and a TV.
The hotel as free wifi, so ask at reception for the passwords. You will get two passwords one for in your room (I only got this to work once for 15 mins) and one for near reception area which does work in the bar area and out side.
The bar area was big enough for the amount of guest the hotel holds at anyone time, the staff were pleasant at all times, large beer (Forst beer) 4.50€ and the house wine 2.50€ for a large glass.

Now the restaurant, were do I start with this. We must say it was very clean and waitresses worked very hard. The food (remember you are in Italy so the food is what they eat). We thought there was plenty but still can’t work out which we had to eat first the salads or wait for the soups or pasta’s, anyway have fun trying to work it out. For breakfast do not expect a full English.
I do recommend the boat trip across the lake for Malcesine to Limone, two smashing little villages, but go on a Tuesday because there is a market on in Limone, and if you get chance visit Venice. While we were there (4th August to 10th) the temperature was averaged out at 35c (very hot). It would have been better early or late summer.

The only down side is that the hotel is a few miles away from any form of life, approximately 3 to 6 miles to the nearest village. There is a bus service that runs about every hour and the bus stop is outside the hotel.
I personally would not go to this hotel again but only because it is too far from anything.

My fiancé and I went to Lake Garda on an all inclusive holiday with National Holidays, cost £379 per person, on a bed breakfast and evening meal and 3 hours free bar on an evening (8 till 11) staying in Mezt (France) for the night on our outward and return journey. The actual time on the bus travelling was about 26 hours each way (approx 1026 mile each way), take advantage of the all too infrequent short stops (about 15 mins) to exercise your legs or your ankles will swell up. The short stops do not give very much time to go to toilet or get a coffee as there are always queues.

We had a major problem with the toilets on the bus, on the outward journey the tank taking all the sewage got full and a passenger called Karen spent all of 20 minutes in the toilet to try and get rid of the smell, bless her. A few others did all they could to clear the toilets of the stench because when the door was opened the stench was awful (big thanks Karen and all the other ladies). In the end another of the passengers kept spraying perfume every time any one wanted to use the toilet. Now this went on for a few days, the ladies even bough out of their own money, toilet fresheners and bleaches. The drivers did nothing for days until they emptied the tank.
It did not end there on the return journey the tank holding the water to flush the toilet ran out, what did the drivers do? NOTHING. One lady was told she could always wear incontinent pants so I was told.
In the end one of the passengers requested the driver to lock the door shut so she would not get the stench every time the door was opened (she was sitting next to the door the poor lass).
Bad news for those who use vapour cigarettes, you can’t use these on the bus, although on National Holiday’s facebook page it said they were not band it was up to the driver. Our driver told me in no uncertain manner they were band on all buses. Tip from me if toilet dose not stink use in there, the smoke detector dose not pick it up because it’s not smoke and there is no smell with them.
Hope all the above is helpful, thanks for reading.

Room Tip: any room from 335 to 340, views are stunning

I have stayed twice at the Hotel Caribe, one overnight on the way to Sorrento with Harry Shaw Travel and in March 2013 with National Coach Holidays. The hotel is beside the lake and there is a tunnel under the road to save crossing at busy times. My twin room (for solo occupancy) was well furnished, clean and comfortable with a balcony (but not a view).

The food in the hotel was both plentiful and of good quality. Although meals could take some time because of waiting for courses to come along, this upset those who wanted to make the most of the free bar. The restaurant has lovely views across the lake.

The coach took us out each day. The only problem with the Caribe is its location is isolated, although if like me you are relatively agile that's not a problem as there is a path following the lake shoreline allow you to walk either south or north.

I would certainly go back to Caribe again, it was unfortunate that the weather we had when I was there wasn't too good except on our day in Venice.

Staff were pleasant and efficient.
