Who knew that the Magdalena was so well run! I didn't, but after my stay there I must say it's value for money and the service is where you'd want it to be. Getting a room was no hassle and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The main attraction of the hotel is the pool area which faces the atlantic ocean. I wouldn't advise you go swimming as it's more suited to kite surfing. The pool is grand and the pool bar makes being in the pool even more attractive. Breakfast was pretty good. Wish there was a little more local offering tho. Lunch & Dinner are a little expensive so I'd suggest you go out of the hotel and grab lunch and dinner elsewhere. You'd need a car to do that which will run you 100US per day if so much. That said, it's the kind of hotel you can spend all your time in tho. Golf, Tennis, Biking, Running, Sun Bathing, Bird Watching, Drinking! :)

I stayed there for the weekend, my husband and I wanted some R&R. I thought the majority of the staff wonderful. Anika in the Restaurant, warm, welcoming and accommodating. Housekeeping did a great job, except for one time, but that was a miscommunication on my part. Robin the Asst F&B Manager has a real passion for the hospitality industry which really comes out in her warm personal and friendly personality. Front Office under the direction of Sacha and Hollis very charming and helpful. Mr. Stephen Callendar what a trooper always working never stops, even remember my juli mangoes when I checked out. Overall, I had a wonderful stay.
Suggest: Newspapers daily or perhaps a synopsis of daily news on a stand in the lobby for them to take to their rooms to read.

The most AMAZING FRIENDLY WONDERFUL STAFF,John James Security,Misty Dining Hall,William(dreadlocks),Kenny,Hollis,Shantelle(rooms)Andel,Nyron & Ainka,all these people made my holiday SPECIAL thank you ALL!
However,the hotel itself,is catered for the older person,this hotel needs some young energy input,something to do on rainy day,inject some fun and enjoyment.
The restaurant was disappointing....display good,but food lacks flavour and seasoning,desserts
varied but all tasted exactly the same.Am also concerned about the lighting above the hotplates,which is made of a white fluffy material,and the possibility of these absorbing odours and shedding dust?strange and unhealthy!
.This hotel is being run & sustained by amazing staff,the hotel needs a shake-up.

Let's start by saying this resort is owned by the government. And it shows. As soon as you entered the grounds it was obvious that maintenance funding is an issue. Roadway lighting was in disrepair with about half of the roadside lights missing altogether or simply not working. This theme carried over to the hotel itself with many areas in desperate need of general maintenance.

We were at this Beach & Golf Resort (oh wait, there is no beach, only rocks) for 6 days and not one day was without issues. After checking in and signing for pre-approved charges against my credit card we went to the pool bar only to learn that I could not charge our cocktails to our room because there was no pre-approval registered. We had to walk back to the front desk and spent 30 minutes getting it corrected.

Our room was very standard and was not the cleanest it could be. My wife refused to use the shower because the shower door was filthy and there was grime around the perimeter of the door. I was able to do basic cleaning using soap and a washcloth but it set a tone for our stay.

On the second day our 2nd floor balcony nearly collapsed. Somehow the floor tiles exploded in several places leaving shards of tile on the floor and 3 or 4 other area where the tile lifted from the foundation. Another 30 minutes at the front desk to get us registered into another room (one room over and not feeling too good about the balcony on this one). We walked outside to see the balcony of the first room to see a one inch crack completely across the outside part of the balcony. While the hotel apologized for the inconvenience there was no offer of any type to ease the pain of inconvenience. Even a complimentary cocktail would have been nice.

This theme continued throughout our visit. Right up until checkout when the front desk wasn't able to get approval for my credit card through their system. I had to call American Express and they said they weren't seeing any transaction coming through. Another 30 minutes spent before they said they would have to wait until later and try again.

There were many other issues I could point out but I think I've said enough.

If you do go to this resort do stop in the Tavaco Lounge and meet Sonia. We spent time there every night and she was delightful and pleasant.

We appreciate your detailed review regarding your recent stay with us. We would like to apologize once again for the inconveniences caused during your stay.

The Magdalena Grand is located on the Tobago Plantations Estate, and unfortunately do not have control over the immediate entrance to the plantations. We are however in constant contact with the owners of the estate to ensure that the services they provide are maintained.

While we are located on the Atlantic side of the island, which means our beach offers a few more waves depending on the time of year you visit, we are pleased to offer a complimentary shuttle service to Pigeon Point Beach twice daily. We do however sit on a sandy 2 1/2 mile long beach, which offers the cooling winds from the Atlantic. We are also a turtle nesting beach, which occurs during the months of March - September. It really is an amazing site to see the turtles dig their holes in our sandy beach and lay their eggs, and then of course the hatchling making their way out of the sand for their journey to the water.

With regards to the pre-authorization on your credit card, unfortunately technical errors do occur, but we are happy that we were able to resolve this for you. Similarly, for the unfortunate situation that occured during your departure. The magnetic strip of a credit card can be affected based on its storage and proximity to cell phones and other electronic devices.

With regards to your accommodation experience, we are also sincerely apologetic for this. Our engineering team have since amended the issues regarding the tiles in the balcony. Rest assured that balcony was safe. Due to the heat and the moisture from the sea blast, the titles were lifted. We were very happy that we were able to accommodate you in a nearby room, and minimising the inconvenience of having to move to a furhter room. Please be advised that we are constantly reviewing our preventative maintaince programme.

We do hope that you would allow us another opportunity to be of service and to provide you with the quality service that exceeds your expectations. Please feel free to let us know of your return and we would be happy to ensure your stay in indeed a memorable one.

Visited 15 May 2014 for our honeymoon. Wanted somewhere peaceful and modern where we could get a good rest after a hectic wedding. There were a few to choose from but we decided on this one and definitely made the right choice! Hotel room was clean and modern, with wifi in the rooms - a must in this day of mobile phones and tablets! The beach on the resort is right on the Atlantic so the sea was a bit rough for us to go venturing out but the large pool with cocktail bar on the resort more than made up for it!The food was excellent - nice variety with some wonderful salads. But most importantly the staff were SO friendly and courteous and helpful, that they actually put the icing on the cake of a lovely honeymoon. If it's sun, relaxation, good food and even better customer service you're looking for this place will definitely fit the bill :-)

I just spent a week here with my sister and i have to say it is the best hotel i have every stayed in. On arrival we were told to have a seat in the plush waiting area overlooking the beach whilst the queue went down then we were greeted with a complementary non alcoholic cocktail that had a rich red colour and very fruity. Bags was taken to our room by a lovely gentleman called William. The duty Manager was especially nice as we initially had a problem with our room but he sorted us out in no time at all, i would give him 10/10 for excellent customer service because he went above and beyond to make me and my sister happy.

In the morning they have a free bus that leave to Pigeon Point at 9am and 11am by Henry the most warmest driver that you will every meet, he was really sweet by speaking to everyone on the bus, remembering all our names and making great suggestions on places to visit on the island.

Every morning your room is cleaned, the lady that was assigned to our room 227-228 was Martha a very friendly lady that smiled a lot, she reminded me of my mum as she evoked a caring nature and as always the room was clean to perfection.

Staff at breakfast was great to be honest everything about this hotel was great due to the wonderful staff that was employed they made you feel like family.

The hotel is absolutely safe there is nothing to worry about as my sister left her purse behind in two public places and when she went back to search all the people said was look you left behind your purse (lol in what world does that happen). I also feel that the hotel looks better in person the pictures don't sell the place well.

I honesty would recommend this hotel to a family or a couple as there is loads to do for both. There is an adults only swimming pool and also a nursery where you could drop your children off.

Lovely hotel, well maintained refurbished 2 years ago. Rooms are spacious, big bathrooms with toiletries provided, tea/ coffee facilities hair dryer etc. pool area is lovely, lots of space. Hotel is on Atlantic side so sea very rough, not great for swimming but hotel does offer free shuttle to beach on Caribbean side. Little entertainment in the hotel in the evenings so can lack atmosphere at times it was really quiet when we there and not all food outlets were open. There is no where outside the resort to walk to for food in the evenings so you are restricted to the hotel unless happy to get a taxi. Pub on site is nice, main courses £9 cocktails £5 so not excessive the other restaurants are more expensive buffet dinner is £25. Staff generally really friendly and helpful- exception being reception staff.
