Amazing cannot begin to describe my vacation here! From the moment entered the Tobago Plantations Estate and drove up the magnificent drive way I no longer felt like I was in Trinidad and Tobago. The bellmen greeted us with a friendly smile and assisted us with our bags. The reception was very friendly and helpful as well. We were greeted with cold towels which were scented (ahhhh so amazingly relaxing) and cold fruit punches. The view alone from the lobby was breath-taking! The lobby overlooks the pool and the ocean… once you arrive you know you are in paradise!

Our rooms were surprisingly spacious and clean! And oh my gosh! That bed… I didn’t want to move! So comfortable. As a female traveller I really appreciated the moveable magnifying mirror in the bathroom. A hairdryer, iron and ironing board was found in the clothes cupboard. All very nice touches. All the rooms overlook the ocean with private balconies. It was wonderful just to sit out there in the nights and listen to the crashing waves. In the morning, we were awaken with the rising sun. Beautiful sight!

Housekeeping staff were always friendly and we never had any issues.

Breakfast at the Pembois Restaurant was to die for! Choices, choices, choices! And everything was delicious. I thought that could hardly be possible, but the same was proven for dinner. The first night we enjoyed the buffet dinner, and again, the choices are many. During our stay we also dined at the Kali’na Restaurant, which was also a yummy experience. The servers were so professional and friendly. We asked a few questions well about the menu and they all knew their stuff and were able to answer immediately, which helped us to choose a wonderful meal.

The surroundings were clean and offered so much! We rode bikes, which were complimentary. The fitness centre was available, but we were on vacation LOL! We’ll see about exercise when we are back to our regular schedules. The pools… oh my gosh! The main pool is breathtaking and the smaller infinity pools are perfect to escape. Salaka Grill is a must for lunch. It’s the perfect little poolside restaurant.

We read some of the recent comments and we could not disagree more. Like the one written by Kailey16. I’m not sure where she stayed but it could not have been at the Magdalena! This place is truly second to none, and will be my new home away from home for future visits to Tobago!

Well done Magdalena Grand! See you soon!

Room Tip: All rooms face the ocean, but rooms on the higher floor will have a better view.

We arrived at the hotel at 3pm to find out that the rooms were not ready and the clerk unable to say how long our rooms would take to be ready. There were about 10 other families in the same situation. The lobby was hot, fly infested and they served hot fruit punch as the welcome drink. About an hour later they finally took us to our room which was nice, but in the rush the bathroom wasn't thoroughly cleaned as there was soap on the shower floor. The air-condition dripped on the floor overnight and when we called reception, we were told they would send over an engineer to check it out... We're still waiting!
The next morning the maid just knocked on the door once and then walked right in with out giving us a chance to answer or get dresses and around 230pm while our baby was napping maintenance came banging on the door to service the smoke detector. On top of all that their gourmet restaurant don't allow kids below 12yrs of age!

I am very sorry to hear of your disappointing stay, please send me a private email or call my office as would like the opportunity to speak further with you next week when I return to Tobago. This is certainly not our norm and again our apologies.

My recent stay at this hotel was a delightful and enjoyable. The rooms are clean and updated and the staff go beyond the call of duty. Staying at this hotel with children is not a problem as it is a family oriented hotel. I had a great stay and will be sure to return!

We are on the penultimate day of our wonderful stay at the Magdelena, and want to say that Tobago is now our favourite Caribbean island.
The staff at the Magdelena are so courteous and discrete, never failing to make us feel we are valued guests. Our waitress at breakfast named Valerie has been especially endearing, her serenity and impecible manners have added to the undoubted relaxing and happy atmosphere throughout the hotel.
Our room, large and comfortable, quiet air con and hot, hot showers with oversized sea facing balcony has been our retreat from the glorious sunshine at the end of the day. A stroll to dinner and listening to the wonderful soul, bluesy, jazz band have rounded the day to perfection.
Car hire has been easy and touring the island to swim at the heavenly Englisman's Bay was a triumph, as was the fresh lobster and the very palatable Carib beer.
Truly no hesitation in recommending The Magdelena and Tobago for an outstanding holiday.
We hope to return.

What can I say! Hospitality can be a complicated business, and certainly hard work, but I know that the ultimate reward is when we can so positively impact a vacationer and send them on their way with wonderful memories and feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Life is a tough business and we are in the business of making it that little bit easier. We are truly honoured by your remarks. Hurry back.
Best wishes from all the Magdalena family.

We are having a fantastic time at the Magdalena, Friendly staff, great service, beautiful weather and the shuttle bus to pigeon point is a great idea! ..... But why is Howard talking to the other guests and not us??

Thank you for your very kind comments - I am hoping you are still here with us so I can say Hi as I try to talk to as many guests as possible and this weekend we have about 300 plus in total and others who come to enjoy our restaurants and bars and entertainment. I am always interested to know how the guest experience is.

Best wishes and again thank you from the Magdalena family

The hotel was very nice, the staff helpful and friendly and the food was very good. The all inclusive package was very good value, but slightly odd drinks system when you get there where some cocktails are in the package and some not. All local spirits not premium, so don't really understand why this complication is added? The breakfast and lunch food choices are excellent, the evening meal in the buffet restaurant is not as nice, as I often find buffet choices don't really go together and you end up with an odd selection on your plate. The a la carte restaurant is very good which you can visit twice a week on the AI package. My main reason for not returning would be the actual location. One of the reasons we go to the Caribbean to snorkel and enjoy the warm clear seas, here on the Atlantic side the sea is so rough you cannot even swim in it, let alone snorkel and rather worryingly had quite a lot of Portuguese Man of War washed up on the beach, one of the guests was stung by one as they paddled in the surf. On the Caribbean side of the island (shuttle bus provided twice a day) the water is murky and almost devoid of any life. There were glass bottom boats to the 'reef' and excursions to snorkel, but to just do so from the beach was very disappointing. Like the previous reviewer we also stayed at the Buccament Bay Hotel in St Vincent last year and would say that even though it was twice the price it was worth every penny. You do get what you pay for generally in life and The Magdalena is not pretending to be a 5 star deluxe, for what it is it was very nice and we did enjoy a nice relaxing stay even though it rained a huge amount during the week. All in all we lost about 2 and half to 3 whole days to rain and thick cloud cover so a lot in one week.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us and your kind commendations. Am sorry to hear you were a little disappointed in the beaches, we usually find our guests who venture to Pigeon Point are very complimentary. However we appreciate your point of view and hope you will venture this way again. Best wishes from the Magdalena team.

We stayed here in May 2013.
Hotel is clean and from all accounts the best on the Island but very quiet.

The food was ok, not brilliant but we utilised the Restaurant, The Kalina where the food was much better and the service excellent.
Hotel was very quiet during our stay, about inspite of the fact that the weather was very good.
We felt that the hotel could do with more entertainment. the island tour is highly recommended.
I would say ideal for a relaxing week, two weeks maybe too long, all depends on you though!

Room Tip: Dont be fooled, all the rooms are seafront
