Overall it was a pleasant stay. It is a lovely hotel with friendly staff. My husband hates buffet dinners at any resort but here there were no lines and it did not feel like a buffet. He's a much pickier eater than I, and his plates were piled high, and he enjoyed everything he tried. Breakfast was superb. The front desk manager forgot our dinner reservations on a busy night and we had to wait almost half hour before being told if they would accommodate us. They did, and the next day their General Manager made sure to apologise and make up for it. This was the only reason I didn't give them excellent rating. The prices for many things including things at the gift shops were decent, in fact I would even say competitive, because we went to trinidad the week after and some of the same items were higher priced. I will definitely return

This hotel is truly one of the most beautiful hotels in Tobago. The scenery is magnificent. The rooms were very clean and consistent. The food was also very tasty and we did get value for money. The pool areavwas nice for young children As there was a shallow area for kids. The beach had nice lounging chairs and the beach was very well maintained. The only unfortunate thing is that we had to wait three hours after the check in time for our room and I noticed that everyone checking in had to wait in the lobby for a long time. I was unconcerned the fact that they had a lot of bookings, not my problem. I did also notice that foreigners received different treatment to Trinidadians. I would like the hotel to recognize that Trinidadians are the ones who most patronize the tobagonian hotels and deserve the same treatment. Other than the inconsistencies will definitely go back again.

We stayed at Magdalena for 4 nights and it is a beautiful hotel, in a great location with a big pool and few small ones, and it has access to the beach. The hotel is nice and clean, staff are helpful and you get a cool towel and a nice drink on arrival. The breakfast is good and varied, with a good choice of cold and hot food, there is also a chef that will cook an omelette or eggs as you like them. The coffee is not so good, which is disappointing as T&T produce their own. Dinner buffet was not impressive, we tried it on the seafood night (it's a different theme every night) and apart from the big roasted fish, everything else did not appear to be fresh or tasty. Kalina restaurant on the premises offers a more sophisticated dining but the menu is not that varied and a lot of wines are not in stock, they mainly have expensive ones available. The food however is good but not fine dining by European standards. They also prefer if you book a table with the concierge in advance which we found rather strange as it never seemed full.

There is access to the beach and plenty loungers at the beach and pools. There is also a bar at the pool which is rather nice, you can sit in the pool and have a refreshing drink.

The hotel is located on bigger premises, which include a golf course and villas, some are available as holiday rent and some are private houses.

We also visited the spa which is next to the hotel, but not part of it so you can't charge it to the room. There also a few gift shops next to the hotel, a coffee shop and a cafe that serves drinks and sandwiches.

Overall, the hotel is good, if a bit overpriced.

Room Tip: All rooms have a sea view.

My husband and I stayed with our 2 year old son and my parents what a fabulous place. The hotel itself is extremely clean, the rooms were very modern but still had a lovely carribbean feel and were decorated beautifully. The rooms were cleaned every day and the housekeeper we had (Martha) was a joy to speak to what a lovely lady who does an excellent job.

The hotel was at full capacity but never seemed overcrowded at all it was so spacious and there was always plenty of room by the pool. The pool is ideal for small children as it had a shallow area where the kids could run around and steps down into the pool that they could sit on and play. There were lots of different areas near the pool with lovely relaxing sun loungers for relaxing. There was always a nice breeze being right next to the beach so it was never too hot. The beach is so close and had such a beautiful walk it really was breathtaking.

The staff were very friendly and were very sweet with my little boy he had an obsession with the golf cars and the bell boys took him for a ride every now and then which he loved.

I left The Magdelena feeling refreshed and energised and will definitely return. What a magnificent place!

Its about a 15 minute ride from the airport and when you turn off the main highway you have a long meandering drive through new builds, golf courses etc.
Its definitely out of the way and realistically only accessible using taxis or hire cars.
On arrival the hotel looks fine with a big open reception, with the staff in there being adequately friendly and efficient.
However thats where the compliments end. We went into the bar adjacent to the reception and despite us being the only people there and the barman being 5 feet away it seemed to take forever to be acknowledged and longer than that to get served.
At breakfast the following morning, we were greeted by some surly young girl who obviously didnt want to be there. The only empty table in the shade had recently been vacated by its former occupants and all their mess was still on the table. We asked madam if she would clear it whilst we got breakfast but on our return only 1 plate had been removed so we had to eat our breakfast amongst half empty coffee cups and soiled napkins etc.
We asked for a tea and coffee and after about 15 mins we got a coffee dispenser, nothing else. We eventually had to get our own cups and then ask someone else for the tea.
The table opposite us had also had similar treatment and a lady on there really took madam to task asking her why she was so rude to guests.
A supervisor came over and she was quickly removed from the floor but it was a general attitude of the staff that they were glum and couldnt be bothered.
The hotel is very big and impersonal and although recently refurbished the expression of "fur coat, no knickers" comes to mind. It had no atmosphere.
We cut short our 6 night stay and moved out. Good decision.

Our first trip to the Carribean and we couldn't have chosen a better place to be for 2 weeks. We shared our experience with 2 good friends and had a great time.
After a small hiccup with the rooms, we were made to feel very welcome and the rooms were lovely. The level of cleanliness was very good indeed and we were very comfortable overlooking the beach.
The Pembois Restaurant provided a very diverse choice of food every night and a great breakfast service every day. We were very well looked after by the friendly waiting staff, especially Adanna, Valerie and the chef de cuisine who presided over the Roti - very good indeed.
The fine dining restaurant "Kalina" was amazing and all the staff there took time to make us feel special.
We all enjoyed the cocktails at the various bars around the hotel but especially in the Piano Bar where Karlina and Franklyn looked after us very well and delighted us all with the amazing skills they have in mixing those amazing Cosmopolitans and Tom Collins!
At the swim up bar we experienced amazing Rum Punches made special by Ierene and David.
Undoubtedly, the staff made our holiday and although they still have a few teething problems with the service, they do seem really keen to address them and that carribean smile always did the trick for us!
The hotel is in a lovely position on the Atlantic which can be rough and windy, but it is so nice to have the choice of travelling to the Carribean side on the shuttle provided by the hotel and spending the day at Pigeon Point for the day and watching the sun go down with a cold beer!
We played a round of golf but found it a very challenging course in the heat and humidity. It is beautiful, but very unforgiving. We would recommemd taking your own clubs if you plan to play and also take some water with you as it is not something that is included in the price of your round.
So, well done everyone for making our stay a great one and we certainly recommemd it to anyone making their first trip to the West Indies. The people are AMAZING.

Room Tip: Rooms on at least the first floor enjoy a better view of the beach.

Thsi hotel is actually nice. Good food, good service, good sleep etc. Only problem is that the location makes the holiday very expensive. You need a taxi all the time if you need to step out. Every other thing was perfect. The pool area was just too nice and relaxing.
