Manta Lodge is in a fabulous location (the whole of N Tobago is just beatifiul), and is heartily recommended for anyone looking for a diving holiday (I did not take advantage, but the Dive Master impressed me greatly). The hotel has a nice layout, is fairly new, and has a nice pool area. Rooms are just above average, our bathroom door would not shut properly for example, but A/C & beds were fine and the upstairs rooms have great views. Our gripe was with the over laid-back attitude - e.g. our reservation had not been made despite E-mail confirmation, and when the owner's family turned up for the weekend guests were made to feel second class citizens by the staff.

The day we arrived was the chef's day off, and the evening meal was awful, but when he came back food was excellent, though this is not a problem as you are only 200 yards from the Treetops restaurant, which you should visit anyway.

The exception to the staff was Cynthia Fletcher, if you need help she is the one to ask, she is the dynamo of the hotel, and a very nice lady to boot.

Also, there is not really a good beach near the hotel, though an acceptable one can be found beyond the Sugar Mill, towards Blue Waters, about 400 yards away.

Where we did score was with the path into the forest nect to the Sugar Mill, and the track to Starwood: we are bird lovers and the birdlife to be seen on these walks was fantastic.

If a very laid back hotel in a fabulous location is what you want, this hotel is fine for you: I guess my message is, not really a hotel for families with small children, fine for nature lovers, brilliant for divers.

Manta Lodge in Speyside was a wonderful experience. The feeling that you are at home is everywhere. The rooms a comfortable and large, the staff are very friendly, and the Chef is amazing. While you are there, you must check out Tobago Dive Experience, Sean Robinson the hotel owner also runs this company. His expertise in diving made for a wonderful and exiting time at sea. The diving is beyond words, Japanese Gardens, Black Jack, Coral Gardens, Angel Reef, and so on. I can not say enough about this experience. If your coming to Tobago and you want to relax, or dive, Manta Lodge is the place to be.

This was the best holyday I ever had. Two weeks in Manta Lodge (Speyside, Tobago) was so relaxing and exiting. The people are more than friendly, tho hotel is small and really good and diving, I can`t descirbe!!! More than wounderful.

Manta Lodge is a familar hotel. For me it was really nice. But some guest were not so happy because of the service which is sometimes not the fastest (it depends on the person who serves !!!) But the meals are really delicous. Many other guest of other hotels comes to eat there...

I hope I can stay ther an other time (as soon as possible !!!)
