“bad phone impression”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2003

I did not stay at Footprints, however I already know that I won't be considering this resort when I'm planning my vacation. I called Footprints to speak with someone staying there and the person answering the phone was very hostile, come on thats not very tourist friendly.Just from that phone call I don't think I want to stay away from home being around an arrogant and rude staff.

Every establishment can be forgeiven for a bad day and it would be harsh to slate them forever.
We constantly do staff training so that this sort or incident would not re-occur again.

I stayed at the main villa at Footprints Eco-Resort in July 2003. The resort charges premium rates for the villas, but sad to say, the management has not maintained the property to an acceptable standard. The resort is in one of the most beautiful parts of Tobago and the villas are very secluded with jacuzzi and pool. Our holiday could have been so much more enjoyable if only the roof did not start leaking after the first heavy rains - the bathroom, kitchen and living room had water dripping everywhere. Thank goodness the bedroom remained dry! Also, the staff don't seem to realize the importance of having the pool and jacuzzi filled and operating properly before guests arrive - it was two days before we could get them to fix all the problems. Beautiful location and great potential but poor resort management.

The materials that we used on the roof of this villa though helped us with our Eco concept, but did not keep the rains out after a few years.
We had to look at another material that keeps the rains out and at the same time enhances the villa the beauty of the natural surroundings.

We honeymooned at Footprints and had a wonderful time. For most of our stay we were the only guests there so we had the run of the place! The restaurant was fantastic and we got to try many local foods such as barracuda and callaloo. Our cottage was roomy and nicely isolated. Many kinds of birds can be seen in the area. Our trip was at the end of May, which is supposed to be the start of the rainy season. However, no rains appeared so everything was quite dry and very hot. We underestimated how hot it would be. Also, the mosquitos are merciless. But it was still a great trip!We strongly recommend visiting nearby Castara. Local guide King David can pick you up for snorkeling trips, fishing, rainforest tours, etc.

When I arrived at Footprints at around 10.30pm at night, we were handed our drinks. It was dark and there was a full moon. We walked down to the pool and looked down to the sea, with the moon reflecting off the surface and realised this was the most beautiful place on earth.

Having our own pool, jacuzzi and house with no disruption made this holiday the most relaxing I have ever enjoyed.

The food was delightful, the staff looked happy and made you feel at home in their wonderful eco-resort.

It is an ideal honeymoon location and I recommend it to everyone I meet.
