“It was just "ok"...”

The accommodation was basically good. The outside of the hotel is in some need of renovation /painting but the inside of the room was perfect (I got a "superior" room).

The room itself has hardwood flooring. It also has a large and comfortable four-poster bed, which adds a lot to the decor of the room. The room also overlooks the sea, which offers a wonderful view and creates a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The decor of the room gives it an antique yet still unique finish. I am particularly picky about my Bathrooms and I found it clean. However just for a bed and a few chairs in the room the accommodation may seem over priced for some.

The pool area is very welcoming and clean save for a few leaves (but there are trees all around so that can be forgiven). There was poolside seating for sunbathing and these seemed to be in good condition.

The restaurant is in desperate need of repair and renovation and a few coats of paint. But the food was very tasty nonetheless and seating comfortable.

At the time of check in the front desk attendants were acting in a very casual manner but yet still welcoming.

With some minor renovations and a better price ;-) this hotel will get 5 stars from me.

If you need a hotel with all the bells and whistles and mod cons. then Blue Haven is not the place. It's a place to relax with no stress and just go with the flow. The service is not always the fastest or slickest but it gets done and with the most genuine of smiles.
The setting and all staff couldn't be better.
The hotel really could do with upgrading as it is looking pretty tired but the staff are the friendliest, most helpful people you could wish to come across. Nothing is too much trouble and always done with a smile.
The internet in the room is slow and unreliable but no problem with the service in the public area.
The rooms are clean and provide pretty much everything you would need for an Island holiday.

If you come to this hotel expecting a huge modern all-inclusive resort, you will be bitterly disappointed.
If, however, you come looking for somewhere with individual character, charm and stunning views, where the service is wonderful and where you are treated as a person not just an all-inclusive wristband, you will fall in love with this place.
The rooms are a little old, but ultimately they have everything you need and are spotlessly clean. The only problem we had was sometimes the hot water was only warm not hot, but as it was so hot outside we did not feel the need for scalding showers anyway so the cooler water suited us.
I have to correct some of the criticisms in other reviews too.
First of all the hotel has now updated its internet and there is free wifi not only in the public areas but also in the rooms too.
We found to manager to be extremely helpful, and in fact all the staff were prepared to put themselves out to make us happy and comfortable.
The a la carte evening meals were wonderful, the lunchtime beach bar menu extensive and portions large. Breakfast was a small buffet, but there was everything you could need and staff again were very helpful.
Do not be put off by the negative reviews below. Just remember you are in the Caribbean where life moves a little more slowly. Sip a cocktail and gaze at the beautiful views, chat to the staff (who will know your names and what you like to drink within a could of days of your arrival), relax and enjoy the smaller, intimate atmosphere of this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor room to have better views of the sea. Although all rooms face the ocean, lower...

Returning to this beach after 8 years, I was very disappointed to see the terrible state of the beach and steps leading down to the beach.
Rubbish all along the beach front, and piled up like bonfires. The beach facilities, such as the changing rooms and toilets are now out of use. A large white plastic waste pipe leads from the beach bar along the lawn. The place has a horrible neglected feel.
Old plastic bottles line the side of the steps leading to the beach.
Quite disgusting and depressing, I contacted Blue haven Hotel who I was told is responsible for maintaining the beach. Not just for it's own customers! I have still not received a reply. They are using very old photos of the beach on their website. Very misleading.
Shameful.

We came across Blue Haven needing accommodation at short notice. It isn't cheap at $289 US a night, basic room only but we loved the feel and location of the property and felt secure - important to us as we had our toddler with us. We were able to check in slightly early and received welcome drinks. The rooms are traditional in style, I'm assuming they have been refurbished at some point but the wardrobes could do with some work / upgrading. Fan / AC worked fine and water pressure and hot water great. A cot was provided for our infant.

Lovely Margaret informed us that she would include breakfast for us which was a welcome touch. All the rooms look out onto the ocean and have balconies too. The hotel sits atop Bacolet Bay which is quiet and secluded. Perfect for chilling out. The beach bar does good food though not cheap and there are free sunbeds and towels.

You can walk to Scarborough quite easily for basic food options such as KFC, Royal Castle but it's hilly in places and pavements are hard going all over T&T. Vanessa was helpful getting a taxi for us (ask for Mr Williams, what a pleasure).

The hotel let us keep our room to 5pm on the day of check out which was helpful with our toddler.

Charming place, definitely a place to relax and exceeded our expectations. Thanks!

We stayed at the Blue Haven for 2 weeks and it was a wonderful stay as a whole. The staff is incredibly friendly and all of our wishes were no problem.

Small but nice beach - very nice beach bar and lovely staff down there.

One thing we did not like is the management in the hotel. The front office manager who's attitude was beyond unhappy and unprofessional as well as the next gentleman that was put in place by the owner to "manage" - the way they move with the employees is a shame and no one should be treated in this way by their superiors.

We were surprised to see that the staff was still as smiley and friendly and happy with all the guests after being shown by the superiors "where there places in the hierarchy" were.

Mr. Karl - you should be proud of your employees as they make the whole atmosphere of the hotel and rethink your decisions concerning the people you put in charge when you are not there.

Stayed at the Blue Haven in January. what do people want from Tobago? The staff were all brilliant nothing was too much trouble, it was a truly relaxing experience. We had mangos off the trees if you didn't like what was on the menu they just cooked you something else. It's a small hotel, quiet with a small beach, If you want life guards, room service, and food from any country in the world go somewhere else and don't spoil the charm of the Blue Haven. Many thanks to all the staff for their help and their constant smiles. It is a hotel with the true personal touch.

Room Tip: Perfect sunset every night in room 12
