Returning to this beach after 8 years, I was very disappointed to see the terrible state of the beach and steps leading down to the beach.
Rubbish all along the beach front, and piled up like bonfires. The beach facilities, such as the changing rooms and toilets are now out of use. A large white plastic waste pipe leads from the beach bar along the lawn. The place has a horrible neglected feel.
Old plastic bottles line the side of the steps leading to the beach.
Quite disgusting and depressing, I contacted Blue haven Hotel who I was told is responsible for maintaining the beach. Not just for it's own customers! I have still not received a reply. They are using very old photos of the beach on their website. Very misleading.
Shameful.

We came across Blue Haven needing accommodation at short notice. It isn't cheap at $289 US a night, basic room only but we loved the feel and location of the property and felt secure - important to us as we had our toddler with us. We were able to check in slightly early and received welcome drinks. The rooms are traditional in style, I'm assuming they have been refurbished at some point but the wardrobes could do with some work / upgrading. Fan / AC worked fine and water pressure and hot water great. A cot was provided for our infant.

Lovely Margaret informed us that she would include breakfast for us which was a welcome touch. All the rooms look out onto the ocean and have balconies too. The hotel sits atop Bacolet Bay which is quiet and secluded. Perfect for chilling out. The beach bar does good food though not cheap and there are free sunbeds and towels.

You can walk to Scarborough quite easily for basic food options such as KFC, Royal Castle but it's hilly in places and pavements are hard going all over T&T. Vanessa was helpful getting a taxi for us (ask for Mr Williams, what a pleasure).

The hotel let us keep our room to 5pm on the day of check out which was helpful with our toddler.

Charming place, definitely a place to relax and exceeded our expectations. Thanks!

We stayed at the Blue Haven for 2 weeks and it was a wonderful stay as a whole. The staff is incredibly friendly and all of our wishes were no problem.

Small but nice beach - very nice beach bar and lovely staff down there.

One thing we did not like is the management in the hotel. The front office manager who's attitude was beyond unhappy and unprofessional as well as the next gentleman that was put in place by the owner to "manage" - the way they move with the employees is a shame and no one should be treated in this way by their superiors.

We were surprised to see that the staff was still as smiley and friendly and happy with all the guests after being shown by the superiors "where there places in the hierarchy" were.

Mr. Karl - you should be proud of your employees as they make the whole atmosphere of the hotel and rethink your decisions concerning the people you put in charge when you are not there.

Stayed at the Blue Haven in January. what do people want from Tobago? The staff were all brilliant nothing was too much trouble, it was a truly relaxing experience. We had mangos off the trees if you didn't like what was on the menu they just cooked you something else. It's a small hotel, quiet with a small beach, If you want life guards, room service, and food from any country in the world go somewhere else and don't spoil the charm of the Blue Haven. Many thanks to all the staff for their help and their constant smiles. It is a hotel with the true personal touch.

Room Tip: Perfect sunset every night in room 12

My wife and i just returned from a week at this hotel and can only describe it as paradise.
We stayed Feb 1st till 8th and only wish we could have had more time there. Every member of the staff were helpful and friendly and the owner Karl makes you very welcome too.
We were on an all-inclusive deal and had our lunch at the `No-Problem` beach bar each day and have to say the location and quality of the food is excellent. The bay is very private and the sea is so good for a swim.
It has a lovely swimming pool and plenty of seating for a drink overlooking the bay. The room was fine, nothing spectacular, but clean and tidy with a great view.
The restaurant is also very nice and we have no complaints with this either.
Negatives? The breakfast could be better.. but it didnt matter to us one bit.
We have already booked for next year!
