“Very nice place to stay!”
Reviewed June 20, 2014

My first visit to Trinidad and Tobago and the carribean and did not what to expect. This hotel is really nice and located on the cliffs with a stunning view. The room was nice and also the bed. Big bathroom. We arrived late in the evening and the Café Havanna held open just for us. Very nice breakfast with some local food every morning. Nice and helpul staff and the owner is very nice and friendly. The best way to see the Island is to hire a car. It is very easy to drive even if you are not used to left side driving, but there is not so much traffic and it is easy to find your way. I must also say a word about the taxi drivers. They are amazing- so friendly and service minded. Always a big laugh! We used to go with Beardy and he is such an ambassador for his Island. He can tell you stories about Tobago.
If we ever go back to Tobago we shall absolutely stay at the Bacolet Beach Club again.

The hotel was very nice and clean it is very secluded and cabs need to be taken to go into the more "touristy" areas. The hotel did not have much going on and did not have many connections for excursions or things to do or eat outside of the hotel. I received most of my recommendations for food and excursions from the cab drivers which were always very helpful. HANS TOURS which was the only pamphlet given by the hotel was Awesome he was very nice and professional he also recommended a few more things for us to do since we had a late flight so we don't lose a day waiting at the airport. Hotel food was good but was not what I expected in terms of local cuisine they had American food and some traditional plates in their menu. Overall good it was a good relaxing stay and once we figured out things to do it was a better time.

Room Tip: All room have an ocean view

With its simple but comfortable rooms, stunning sea views and private beach this hotel is an oasis of relaxation and comfort.
As a couple looking for a quiet and uncomplicated holiday Bacolet Beach Club and it's staff proved to be the ideal place.
Located on the Atlantic side of the island, car hire added to our ability to enjoy all the 'must visit' sites and what we felt to be the best hotel on the island.
Cafe Havana next door was easily in the best three restaurants on the island too!
We definitely plan to return!

This hotel is definately not a 4* hotel, more like a 2*. I was extremely dissapointed with my stay here. Hotel is way over priced for what it is. Could of stayed on an other all inclusive Carribean island for what I paid here.

Beach - Jelly fish littered the shore one morning and mid afternoon the ocean was full of them and all over the ocean floor. Beach is private and has lots of shade. Quite a bit of sea weed in the water floating around. Not the nicest beach.

Hotel Restaurant/ Buffet Breakfast and Beach Bar
-Food is mediocre at best and over proced for dinner. Not much to choose from.
- While sitting at the beach bar around 6pm we were told if we were not going to buy anything we needed to leave so the staff could close the bar.
- got to hotel at 9:30 am just as breakfast was closing (we were absolutely starving as we just got off a red eye flight) and was told we would have to pay for that day since it wasn't included in our room for that day. Staff charged friends 20 dollars USD for 2 hardboiled eggs (since we were told if we eat we get charged for the whole cost of breakfast (15 USD per person) even if it was only 2 eggs -- bizzare.. In my opinion the hotel should of gave breakfast on the house that day considering nothing was left!!

- Buffet breakfast was cold, the same every day, and did not include the fresh fruit I expected from an island in the Carribean. I was expecting tons of fresh fruit and traditional food.

Rooms- Bathroom fixtures falling apart.Beds were hard and uncomfortable.

Front Desk - Did not provide good suggestions for dinner, and seemed to be a bit aloof. (fyi there are very few good places to eat on this island in general. One place u must try though is the roti shop in downtown scarborough. If you want to get any decent food on this island call a cab and go pick it up yourself for a group of people. We did eat at an italian restuarant one night that has excellent food and pizza.

Pool- Can't say anything negative about the infinity pool. Pretty nice, although I am a beach person and spent very little time in the pool.

I would never go back to Trinidad and Tobago. People are rude and don't treat their tourists very well. Extremely dissapointed to say the least.

This is our second stay at this beautiful boutique hotel and I must say it did not disappoint. My wife and I stayed for 5 days and it's definitely a little Caribbean gem. The staff were very friendly and really went the extra mile to make sure that our stay was as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. Coming from the hustle and bustle of London that's just what you need. I would recommend this hotel.

We stayed for a week and really enjoyed our stay there. We were upstairs and thought the room and view from the room was excellent with a nice balcony and although there were building works next door that didn't affect us at all. We thought the staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was cleaned very well. There was a good buffet selection for breakfast but we did tend to eat early and it was all very fresh. You do need to hire a car and this is not a place to visit for nightlife although Sunday School is worth visiting on Sunday night. Would definitely visit Tobago and stay at Bacolet Beach Club again.

Room Tip: Go for upstairs near the pool

I would definitely recommend the Bacolet beach club, it reflects the laid back nature of the island & having only 20 rooms provides tranquillity and space which everyone would want on a Caribbean holiday.

The location is reasonably good. The private beach is perfect for seclusion and it overlooks a lovely bay. The hotel is at least 20mins from Scarborough and there are no bars, restaurant or supermarkets very nearby to the hotel. Scarborough is sleepy & everything closes down by 10pm so needs to taken into account.

The only gripes I had with the hotel were with the small things. The bar menu showed variety but in reality there was only 1-2 sandwiches (for example) available each day. The breakfast didn't vary massively day-to-day & food wasn't replenished after about 8.30 even though it opened to 9.30-10, therefore you have to get down earlish. This could be understandable given the size of the hotel(s). Customer service seemed to be a foreign concept to some of the staff & requests/questions felt somewhat of a distraction to some staff. Some of the fixtures in bathroom were detached from walls & potentially hazardous.

The hotel is very much value for money priding itself on tranquillity and seclusion. It isn't a 5* hotel & as long as you don't have that expectation before arriving you'll love it. I would definitely use Bacolet again if I returned to T&T.
