We stayed here for two nights, while attending an event in Tobago. The hotel itself was very nice and modern looking. There is a small but beautiful infinity pool and a small area in front the hotel for parking, but these can get easily filled up if the hotel is fully booked.

The room is large with a canopy bed and all rooms have a patio that overlooks the ocean. The bathroom was the biggest selling point, with beautiful fittings and an aqua blue colour which really made you feel as though you were at the beach. The bathroom door however is actually a door that is normally used for a shower stall and is frosted and somewhat cheapened the look.

There is a romantic wooden bridge that leads to Cafe Havana, the restaurant where we had complimentary breakfast on both mornings. While the food was good, the service was not. We had to wait to be told where to sit, while a foreign couple came and they were immediately seated. This was the first negative experience.

Our other negative experience was on the morning when we were supposed to check out. The Check-out time was at 11:00am and at 10:30 am, someone knocked on the door to check our in-room safe. I was in the shower and came out in my towel to answer the door. She said that she would return to check the safe when we left the room, obviously embarrassed by seeing me like that. We were still moving our things out of the room when the phone rang exactly at 11am to ask if we were staying an extra night! Some hotels normally gave you a 15 minute grace, but they are very rigid with the time. I told the person that we were checking out now and we’re on our way out.

While the check-in process is done at the hotel’s lobby, the check-out is at the sister hotel’s lobby across the road (Half Moon Blue). However, there was only one staff member serving both hotel lobbies. So, when we crossed the road to check out, we saw the person running up the driveway of the Half Moon Blue. It was the same person who came to check my safe earlier in the morning! (They may need to hire more staff).

Because of being hurried to leave the hotel and being ignored at the restaurant, we were disappointed. It is such a beautiful hotel but the poor service turned us off from it. We would have considered staying at the sister hotel in the future, Half Moon Blue, but don’t think it would be any better. Therefore, if you’re a tourist, you may be treated well. However, if you’re a local, you’d better look for somewhere else to stay!

I may be biased to give a 5 star rating since we had our wedding on property, but one of the reasons we chose this location was the great experience with the hotel manager, Sari. On our scouting day we visited many locations including the property next door and it took no time to decide who would receive our business. The staff was very accommodating even with the confusion caused by my overwhelming family at checkin. Although the hotel maybe on the pricier side in comparison to other properties, you get what you pay for. Our rooms were immaculate and spacious, cold A/C, gorgeous pool, PRIVATE BEACH, plenty of decks with lounge areas facing the ocean and centralized location (even though you may not want to leave). The food is great, but be prepared to budget $50/day per person if you decide to eat there everyday. We are definitely returning.

Room Tip: If you are planning on traveling with 3 or more people you may want to stay on the Half Moon Blue si...

From the spacious rooms, wonderful views and private beach, to the courteous and overly accommodating staff. My stay here was quite an experience. My wife and I had our wedding ceremony and reception here; we also stayed 5 nights in the superior penthouse deluxe and the experience was unforgettable!

Nice staff
Lovely beach but needs cleaning up
Breakfast good
Clean rooms

Negatives.
Over priced restaurant, limited food options near by, (scarbrough was a dump)
Rooms needed a coat of paint.
Lack of privacy on ground floor rooms. Recommend rooms across the road for cheaper rates. ( half blue moon )

On reaching the airport my husband and I were greeted by the hotel's taxi driver which made us walk to the car park with our own luggage before asking if he could be of any assistance. In short we did not care for the taxi driver and only used him to return back to the airport when were ready to leave Tobago.
On arriving to the hotel I was taken aback because the lobby was actually quite nice and unique. There are many different pieces of furniture which all seem to work together. However after exiting the lobby I was disappointed the scenery, the entire outlook of the buildings everything looked run downed and in need of some sprucing up. Our bedroom was a corner room downstairs and did not have much of a view. The room was decorated with flowers on the bed on the side tables and even in the bathroom. However after three hours it was a bit annoying having to pick them all up to throw them away. The bedroom was nice and the bathroom was beautiful. The only problem was ants. I know it is the Caribbean but the ants were frustrating. You couln't rest a glass for a mere five minutes without seeing ants flock towards it.
The one thing that made this holiday great was the restaurant. Great food, nice breakfast buffet! And it was all affordable. The bartender seem not to know English and was a bit confused but the rest of staff was nice, friendly and efficient.

After last years superb experience we decided to risk going back this year and spoiling the dream. We weren't disappointed and the dream got better. We were greeted by smiling, friendly staff who seemed to recognise us and treated us like old friends; it turned out that they did recognise us and we have become friends! Since last year the hotel has seen a little spruce up in the right areas which made the whole place seem like new. Again, nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff/friends who really went to town when I asked if I could reserve a table for our anniversary - thank you! The restaurant was again well run, menu hasn't changed but did appear to be of a higher standard and the specials were superb [the tuna in particular was incredible!] Gloria Napp-Jones [the owner] made a point of picking us out and making us very welcome, again treating us like long lost friends with a genuine interest and charm. When we left there was another surprise awaiting us, we noticed nearly all the staff mingling in the lobby, at first I thought there was a staff meeting, but as our taxi drew up there was nearly a fight to take our luggage as they all wanted to say goodbye, we were hugged by nearly everyone as if we were family - a very touching moment for us both. We saw more development on the island this year but not too intrusive. Undersea Tobago and Splash boats both provided us with fun and entertainment with more infectious humour the way only they can, whilst giving you the privacy and time to enjoy their beautiful island. Will we go back? Maybe not this year, the world is very big but yes we will; anyone who doesn't like the island or the Bacolet Beach Club hasn't chilled enough and need longer there to truly understand that this is a well run hotel with fantastic staff who want you to enjoy your stay.
