We stayed here for two nights, while attending an event in Tobago. The hotel itself was very nice and modern looking. There is a small but beautiful infinity pool and a small area in front the hotel for parking, but these can get easily filled up if the hotel is fully booked.
The room is large with a canopy bed and all rooms have a patio that overlooks the ocean. The bathroom was the biggest selling point, with beautiful fittings and an aqua blue colour which really made you feel as though you were at the beach. The bathroom door however is actually a door that is normally used for a shower stall and is frosted and somewhat cheapened the look.
There is a romantic wooden bridge that leads to Cafe Havana, the restaurant where we had complimentary breakfast on both mornings. While the food was good, the service was not. We had to wait to be told where to sit, while a foreign couple came and they were immediately seated. This was the first negative experience.
Our other negative experience was on the morning when we were supposed to check out. The Check-out time was at 11:00am and at 10:30 am, someone knocked on the door to check our in-room safe. I was in the shower and came out in my towel to answer the door. She said that she would return to check the safe when we left the room, obviously embarrassed by seeing me like that. We were still moving our things out of the room when the phone rang exactly at 11am to ask if we were staying an extra night! Some hotels normally gave you a 15 minute grace, but they are very rigid with the time. I told the person that we were checking out now and we’re on our way out.
While the check-in process is done at the hotel’s lobby, the check-out is at the sister hotel’s lobby across the road (Half Moon Blue). However, there was only one staff member serving both hotel lobbies. So, when we crossed the road to check out, we saw the person running up the driveway of the Half Moon Blue. It was the same person who came to check my safe earlier in the morning! (They may need to hire more staff).
Because of being hurried to leave the hotel and being ignored at the restaurant, we were disappointed. It is such a beautiful hotel but the poor service turned us off from it. We would have considered staying at the sister hotel in the future, Half Moon Blue, but don’t think it would be any better. Therefore, if you’re a tourist, you may be treated well. However, if you’re a local, you’d better look for somewhere else to stay!
