“Could be improved for honeymooners”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2014

We stayed here for a week after a few days in Nadi for our Honeymoon.

First of all, there are no words that can describe how beautiful the beach is here - I have never seen such blue sea, and the ride on the yasawa flyer to get here was stunning!

We stayed in a beach front villa, which was great. Opening the door to that beach was just heaven and we really miss it. The pool area was also lovely, but like other reviewers have said - there is very little shade and the mattresses get boiling hot (however since we've left they have actually built shades on the sunbeds now.)

The food was really good, and most of the staff were very pleasant and helpful - especially the chefs, who were very accommodating with our fussy eating requests (we don't eat seafood). Plenty of choice at breakfast and lunch time, but a little restricted in the evenings.

We also loved the dogs on the island, including the resorts's dog called Charlie.

The outdoor showers were nice and powerful, and great on a sunny day, but not so great when we had rain & wind. It also wasn't very nice if you had to use the bathroom at night as any light would attract gigantic moths!

Where the resort fell down, unfortunately, was that is was largely geared towards backpackers. Yes, the beach front villa was lovely for a honeymoon, but when it came to the evenings, the 'entertainment' and the communal dining wasn't really to our liking. We didn't go to make new friends and some of the other guests were very irritating, and as such we would have preferred to have more tables for two. We paid significantly more to stay here than those staying in the dorms, and we felt a little let down that we were getting the exact same experience as them.

We did purchase the 'romance package', which included a beachfront meal (this was great!) and a fijian couples massage, but I am sorry to say that the overall stay didn't really live up to our expectations and we weren't made to feel very special, which would usually be expected on a honeymoon.

So in a nutshell - stunning location, great food and staff, but maybe worth exploring other options if it's your honeymoon as this is overpriced for what you get.

Room Tip: Beachfront villas are great but very noisy at night with the sea and neighbouring resort. Save your...

This resort is one of the more expensive ones however I would say you do get value for money as there are a large range of activities and the staff are friendly and always welcoming and will try to help you with any problems that occur. The resort itself is clean and tidy and the views and the back drop are second to none. I would recommend this resort for couples

Great place. Stayed in bunk house for 3 nights: 8 room bunk with cols air con. Stayed in garden bungalow number 11: great with plenty of space and large private bath. Only complaints were noise fan in bungalow, few activities, and no towel service (even in bungalow). Food was excellent with many options for lunch, usually two for dinner, and same breakfast each day. Many people commented that blue lagoon and sister resort octopus are best for price. Overall, clean, great food, nice beach, few activities, nice pool, great bungalows, not a great reef for snorkeling. I would go again, but split time between the two sister resorts.

Room Tip: No fitness center.

The blue lagoon beach resort was our final destination on our trip through the yasawa's.

+
Good food and service
Nice beach
Awesome dive centre (find Geoff, have an perfect instructor, lots of fun and good dives.)

-
Booked a double room and got a twin
No net over the bed
Partly unfriendly staff
No refilled septizers due 7 days in any bathrooms

We would come back for diving any time but other than that we would stay at octopus resort.

Didn't want to write a review as I'd rather keep this place to myself! If there is a heaven on earth, this is it! The staff were very accommodating with our demanding requests (thank you). The rooms were new, clean and extremely comfortable for Island living. I was blown away with the quality of the food, being so far from the mainland my expectations weren't high, but I was pleasantly surprised. If people are looking for a Fiji holiday, they MUST include blue lagoon in their itinerary.

If you're looking for a postcard tropical island, this place is it! Absolutely amazing getaway - newly upgraded accommodation, excellent food, a multitude of activities to suit all sorts - all wrapped up nicely in an absolutely picturesque location. A must-see!

Room Tip: Stayed in the villas (3 coconut rating on the Bula Pass), rather than the accommodation with shared...

We spent 8 days here in March. The general approach to traveling in the Yasawas seems to be to spend a couple of days at a number of resorts that are along the route of the Yasawa Flyer boat. We opted, instead, to just stay in one place, and after talking to other people visiting the resort, we discovered we'd probably made the right choice; generally speaking the Blue Lagoon is one of the nicer resorts in the Yasawas, and the only advice we did keep hearing was that Octopus had better snorkeling right off the beach.

Overall, the stay was nice. Food was good and though I've seen other reviewers say that they felt pressured to sit with other people (something we enjoyed) there are definitely two and four seat tables if you don't want to socialize.

The one thing that didn't sit well with us is that we saw the two managers, non-natives (a man with snowflake tattoos and a woman with purple hair) constantly berating the staff in really demeaning way. Whenever they walked into a room, the other staff seemed to get very uncomfortable and on edge, and many of the other guests we talked to noticed the same thing. The managers were pretty unfriendly and they always sat alone at mealtimes, or with one person who appeared to be the only staff member they liked. I asked one of the regular staff what was up, and apparently they are all scared to death of the managers but they don't want to lose their jobs so they don't speak up.

The regular staff, however, was lovely and kind and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and taken care of.

I hope Blue Lagoon can address the management problem. The feeling of unease around them is quite palpable.
