“Great hospitality”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013

We spent three nights here. Despite it being very wet and the rainy season, we still had a great time. There was a real variety of organised activities - some inside and some out. The people made the difference with a great inclusivity across the whole age range, even for us 70 year olds!!

We spent three nights in Blue Lagoon in a garden villa. Everything was perfect. Staff were really nice, food was great, beach was beautiful. Really hope I can stay longer and would like to come back to Blue lagoon if I travel to Fiji again. Thank you Blue lagoon!

Room Tip: Really recommend garden villa or beach view villa as they have an outdoor private bathroom where you...

Our family spent 4 happy nights at this resort in February 2013.
Staff were wonderful, friendly, ever helpful.
The food was excellent, varied, and in the evenings there were various themed nights, buffets etc. Breakfast was also good, and included freshly cooked omelettes (very nice also was the local bread with coconut jam...)
The rooms were simple. The beds were comfortable, we had a ceiling fan, and the children each had their own single bed. The bathroom was partially outside -so you could shower under the stars - and that worked well. There was only one small rather unstable little wardrobe, and my only complaint would be that we couldn't really fully unpack because there wasn't enough space to put things.
Lots of events were organised by the resort. We went on a rather moving (and free) trip to the nearby village, where we visited the school, and then the village itself where the local women put on a craft market for the visitors. Lots of diving trips were organised for those that wanted that; also Fijian lessons (I did this with a Taiwanese guest, and it turned out we both knew rather too much linguistics and asked some awkward questions, but it was fun); a visit from Aunt Teresia from the village who did a cooking class (we made coconut roti and lemon leaf tea - delicious), as well as the usual cultural displays of dancing and singing, and a crab race...all good entertaining fun - we always felt we could do as much or as little as we liked, there was enough space for people to not get in each others' hair, but nevertheless it was sociable. *The* one thing we all commented on was how wonderful it was that the resort provided a permanent urn of free cold drinking water for residents to help themselves from whenever they wanted. In many resorts you have to pay a lot for water, so this was a very very welcome, simple, but wonderful little touch. Very laid back, but professional at the same time. We didn't experience many flies, or for that matter many mosquitoes - there were some, of course, but not as many as we expected. Wonderful

Thank you for the fantastic feedback about your stay at Blue Lagoon Beach Resort. We were delighted to read that you enjoyed your time at the resort and that the food was excellent and the rooms were comfortable and not to forget the memorial bathroom with the shower under the stars. Since your stay with us we have added luggage racks to the villas that give you more room to unpack your belongings during your stay. We to agree that a cold glass of water on a warm day is a must and we are glad you felt the free water was an added bonus.

We enjoy sharing with the staff the positive feedback they receive via your comments and they were over the moon to read your lovely review.

We hope to see you back at Blue Lagoon Beach Resort on your next trip.

As a solo backpacker most holidays you partake in tend to be rather rough and ready, and often sleeping in some unscrupioulous places - at Blue Lagoon Resort I could not have been more wrong.
On my tour of the Yasawas using the "Bula pass" offered by a fiji tour company I was faced on how to start my tour. Blue Lagoon Resort is on one of the furthest accessible islands on the Yasawas, and takes approx 90 mins to get to by ferry (word to the wise, sun cream up before you leave the plane!).
We (myself and other passengers) were put on a local boat (nothing glamourous) and our documentation was checked - there is NO sun protection on this boat, be warned. We were greeted by a token, but charming, song on the beach by the resort staff - who at all times during our stay were friendly and approachable, if a little "fiji-time" laid back.
The "hostel" accomodation is an open-plan mixed dorm with next door showering facilities. Take fly spray for the night-time toliet requirements and you'll be fine. The room itself was rather sterile but the beds were divine with their own (cleaned) linen and the world best air conditioning (necessary if at times a little excessive would you beleive!). They also offered 4 bed private dorms and double bed private "beach huts" with some of the best views in Fiji - reccomended for you romantic types!
The food at the resort, like most of Fiji, was mostly fish with local vegetables - but reasonable price and no complaints. Word to other travellers, you can bring your own beer/wine but it is frowned upon. The beer in the resort is nice and fairly reasonable (go for Kona rather than Fiji bitter or you'll get sick of it pretty quick - trust me!).
The activities were very cheap (or even free!) and well worth doing, especially the 50 $Fiji massage - you'll feel like aldente pasta afterwards for nowhere as cheap!
I couldn't have asked for more for my first experiance of Fiji, and even booked an extra day to stay with my new friends. Would thoroughly reccomend for lazy-beach solo travelling or, more imporantly, honey-mooner types.

Good:
- Wonderful area with magnificent reefs
- Good living conditions and AC
- Good range of acitivities/evening entertainment
- Great for meeting other travellers

Bad:
- V.little "party" atmosphere
- Laid back staff
- Small resort area

Room Tip: - Families ask for rooms away from Dorm/Bar area - Couples get a lodge, you won't be disappoint...

This was the second place we stayed in the yasawas, after beachcomber, and it was SO SUPERIOR! Blue lagoon is a beautiful place and resort. The beach is in front of a lagoon, there's fish everywhere on the coral reef. The resort is super pretty, with plants everywhere, fresh flowers in your room, wooden beach chairs, hamocs... One of the friends we met there went to a lot of other resort and said the only one that was as pretty was Octopus resort, but in the end she came back to Blue lagoon because the ambiance was so much better!
The food is delicious, breakfast is a buffet with fruits, cereals, home made muffins, and eggs to order (for free). For lunch you choose out of a menu, and dinner is a 3 course meal. What I loved is that the restaurant is set up in such a way that there is a lot of communal tables, so it's really easy to meet people. Btw, don't go to Oarsman Bay (the resort next door), it's way less pretty (plastic chairs, old and more decrepit burres) and almost empty. The staff at Blue Lagoon is very nice and smiling, and overall there is a great feel to that place. I highly recommend the cave trip and the snorkelling trip (which are offered several days a week). Don't forget to get you PADI or have time to do so if you want to go diving!

Room Tip: Get the lodge with no bathrooms, it's the best ratio quality to price!

Extremely sad ending to a wonderful stay at Blue Lagoon Resort. My friend and I splashed out and stayed in a Palm Villa for three nights. The resort prides themselves in being a safe and beautiful resort but don't be fooled. Make sure you lock up all your belongings as both my friend and I had AUD and Fijian cash stolen from our wallets by house keeping. We thought locking our villa would keep other guests out. Never thought at any moment the Fijians would steal from us when they let themselves into our villa for cleaning. We reported it to management and they will investigate. But I don't think anything will come of it. We didn't even get offered a free resort activity to compensate. So with this happening it has ruined out stay and I'll only rate it low...

But to be fair if this hadn't happened I would rate this resort 4/5. Beautiful rooms, nice food and great atmosphere. The beach is nice but not so good to swim. You can't really walk into the water without rocks and coral hurting your feet. And the water is murky so not great for snorkeling. So make sure you do the snorkeling trip to see beautiful clear water and heaps of beautiful fish.

The cave trip is fun too. Something different to do and you get to swim underwater into a second cave area.

This resort attracts a whole heap of different nationalities and the communal eating areas allow you to chat with them all. Those that wish to eat alone can do so also. The 4.5 hour ferry ride is not the best. We took a seaplane flight from the island back to Nadi which was fantastic. I'd recommend to do this if you can afford it. One way ferry is about $117 Fiji and the seaplane was $300. The extra money was worth the 35 minute travel time.... No long boat ride!

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us at Blue Lagoon Beach Resort. We are sorry to hear that your holiday was tainted due to money going missing; let me assure you that we do not take this type of matter lightly and a full investigation was done with our team and they were mortified that this has happened and extremely upset they have been blamed for the missing money. We do provide safe boxes in the beautiful Palms villas to avoid anything like this happening.

We are delighted that you enjoyed the rooms, the food and the special atmosphere this resort and our people create. We agree the weather has not been picture perfect over the last few weeks but this is our wet and windy season hence the reason the water has not been as clear as usual. A good 95% of the time the water here is crystal clear and makes for amazing swimming and snorkeling right off the beach into the coral life, however if you do choose to enjoy just the sand and sea there are several entry points where you can avoid any coral or rocks.

We do hope to see you again when you next visit Fiji.

My wife and I fell in love with this place! Great accommodations, excellent food, a sense of family, and great activities. We spoke with others that stayed at other resorts "ISLAND HOPPING" and they all said Blue Lagoon was the best. We even met a guy that stayed there for a month! Despite some rainy days, we loved it all!,

Room Tip: We chose the beach front room, but the garden view would be our choice next time for the money. Nice...
