Cafe Ateljee (name is inspired by the owner's one of several professions as a seamstress), is located in the heart of Jõgeva, right next to the town's farmers market. Interior is tastefully decorated by re-using old furniture, antique sewing machine tabletops as table bases, scrap of cloths as sofa covers etc. All-in-all it makes you feel as you are at home or visiting a good friend.
The food is simple, but tasty. Special recognition goes to Russian dumplings hand made by Granny (Vanaema, the owner's mother), there is always a selection of soups (varies daily from creamy spinach, and mushroom soup, or solyanka to chicken noodle soup), also you can get pirogies and delicious home made pies and cakes. Granny is an awesome baker! In the summer time they open a terrace so you can enjoy your food and drinks under the starry sky. Often times there are concerts, poem nights, open mic nights that give yet unknown musicians a chance to show themselves in a relaxed atmosphere and friendly audience.
I have visited in the summer time when they opened the patio seating and several times also indoors and I have not had to disappoint.
Useful: payment in the cafe is only by cash
