We (me, husband and our 4 children ranging in age from 1-11) spent Easter weekend there and are going back next week (all of us plus my mother and her friend). We really enjoyed our time. Despite the ugly stairs and hallway, our adjoining rooms were beautiful! I guess we were put into one of the recently refurbished rooms. The pool is wonderful. The beach is out of this world (except at dusk when the "sea lice" start stinging :) We all got a good laugh out of it though. Sabrina and the rest of the crew in the dive shop were wonderful. Our 11 year old daughter was certified with them. Vanessa at the pool bar was so kind. She really is the star of all the staff and should be the example for the rest of the staff in terms of customer service. Some of the staff would stand over us while we were eating breakfast and stare at my daughter. Yes, she is very cute with her piercing blue eyes and chubby cheeks but it got to be a little annoying to have them hovering. Not sure if this has anything to do with the hotel but I was a little disappointed to receive a packet of info from Creole only to find that the "orientation" occured before our flight even arrived and our "representative" never even bothered to get in touch with us. Despite the very few slight disappointments we had a WONDERFUL time and can't wait to get back on the 25th of August and do a glass bottom boat tour, get a massage and actually go to the casino this time. Also, hope we get similar rooms as it was great for our family last time. LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!!! I would highly recommend this place for families. Actually recommended it to a friend who took her family. They loved it too.

The Easter weekend was indeed great fun as the Management of the Resort organised a Easter Party for some 180 parents and children with the 2 Easter Bunnies entertaining the kids. There was also photo session with the bunnies. On the issue of stairways and walkways, they have been refurbished since then. It is a completely new look. The main pool area tiles has just been changed last week for a more exclusive look. You are in for a surprise on the 25 August 2011. Management is looking forward to welcoming you back with your family. Cheers.

To start off, I am not a fussy traveller, nor my wife. We travel alot and never have I experienced a place this terrible. First off, we waited for our room to be ready as the check-in time is 12:00. This is fine seeing as we arrived at 08:00. But despite asking 3 times if the room is ready, and waiting for 3 hours, we were told it is not yet ready. This was false information as our room was apparently ready for an hour before we got it. Of course we were told we will be called once the room is available which did not happen.

We signed for the room, were briefed etc. and finally got the key. However, we were not showed to our room and were bluntly told to go to the first floor. It took me 5 minutes to locate the room.

The rooms are nice, but you have no drinking water in it, the tea and coffee are not free (as in other hotels) and there are no toothpaste/toothbrushes.

The staff working there are rude, bordering on ignorent. Wrong information is a norm most of the time as well. The only staff that was nice to us was a lady at the bar called Vanessa.

You will be ignored unless making yourself known by losing your temper apparently, as this was the case with us.

Dont expect to make this trip a budget trip either as the hotel, and the Seychelles is very expensive.

All in all I would not recommend the hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Rooms are nice, but bring your own toothbrush and drinking water.

Check in time for our hotel is 12 noon. You are required to prebook a night if you wish to have the room when you arrive at 8am. If we have rooms available and when we are not full, we already glad to provide our guest with a room earlier than the official check in time. We are a 232 room hotel and as such do not escort each guest to each of their rooms. Tea and coffee are provided in the rooms for free. You may purchase bottled water from the bar. Toothpaste and toothbrushes are only given upon request. We find most of the local staff are hardworking and polite. Thank you for your feedback.

I read the reviews and was very worried but when we arrived my fears were laid to rest. We had a lovely room and reception made sure we got the room as soon as it was ready, the restaurants were lovely and the buffet only had one night when the meals were not very good, the sunday barbque was g8 and very filling, lovely fish kebabs. I sometimes think that people want too much from a holiday this is why some hotels disappoint. I thought that part of the charm of this hotel was that it was a little old fashioned but everyone worked very hard to make sure the holiday was a good one. As for the navy being in town, they are young lads who have a very stressful job to do, if they let their hair down, so what! They only go so far and if they got out of hand they would be on a charge anyway, we had a chat with some of them and they were lovely lads and very respectful. I was annoyed that some people did not think about what they had gone thru before they arrived at the hotel. The security kept an eye on them anyway and did a good job not to enflame matters. All in all the location was lovely, I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the hotel and holiday, only complaint was that I think in this day and age internet should be available on a timer for each room and not have a card that shud be used within 24 hrs, not very convenient. Keep up the hard work, I am sure the reviews will keep getting better. We would definately go back to this hotel again, with or without the navy.

Room Tip: ask for a better room on arrival

Thank you for your review. We are constantly re-engineering to make our buffet dinners better. The most recent revamp was Friday Night BBQs and Saturday Night Asian Buffet. Both these Buffets which is position in our hotel lawn Under the Stars are new. For Saturday Nights, these is a selection of dishes from Malaysian, Indian, Chinese, Philippines, Japanese. As for the internet cards, the service is provided by Cable & Wireless Seychelles which is the most reliable provider in the island given that we still rely on the Satellite for the service. Glad you like our place. We looking forward to welcome you back.

We had booked at this place in advance and upon our arrival, the friendly receptionist received us warmly and provided a nice welcome drink. Our room was large and nice, and had a good bathroom with a shower. The beach is at the back of this hotel. We walked to it crossing the well maintained and beautiful lawn. The beach is perfectly beautiful. It was great relaxing by the sands. At night time, the beach looked more beautiful and serene. The swimming pool has crystal clear waters and there are quite a lot of sun beds to relax by it. The restaurant and the bar out here are superb with nice attenders who tend to your needs attentively.

Everyday, we re-look into ways to improve our Resort. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Just to shre with you some insights, we have recently placed 1 ton of earth to level the lawn. This seems to have a positive response as more guests are using the lawn to listen to music under the stars and enjoy the nice Seychelles breeze. Hope to welcome you back here soon.

But were pleasantly supprised to find that the rooms were comfortable & clean the, staff were extreemly pleasant & helpful, & the food was good. We really could not understand where the bad reviews came from

The Berjaya Beau Vallon Hotel is one of those old guard properties that gained the Seychelles a reputation for standards that fell well below expectations of travellers headed for the wonders the country had to offer.

Two years ago, I took my wife and 1 and a half year old on our honeymoon and the Berjaya was the first port of call. The hotel was fine, but there were flaws and a lot of work had been promised to bring the hotel up to the standards expected by travellers today. Has it been a success? Read on...

First thing to note is the reception area is now brighter than the dark, oppressive feeling of old. The process of checking in was also much quicker and the staff dealt with things efficiently. I did not get the 'welcome back' that a little check could have gained, but still, it was fine.

The deluxe room we had was situated in the garden area of the hotel and grants these rooms a nice tranquil setting just 5 minutes from the beach and Pizzeria. There was a large flat screen telly in the room with good picture quality and a good standard of cleanliness and care to the general surrounds. These rooms, in particular were easily big enough to look after the 3 of us in good comfort. I should also mention the beds which are very comfortable indeed, even in the standard rooms, so I suspect they are new as part of the refurbishment.

Other trimmings have also been subject to the new Berjaya standards and meant that we were in a perfect place to start our latest Seychelles holiday, following the 25 minutes transfer from the airport.

The pool area is to be refurbished in August, and it does need it. Some of the tiles are chipped, but in truth, our 3 year old absolutely loved it and we had no problems getting well placed sun loungers, in spite of the presence of the Royal Navy for a couple of dates during our stay! Pool side, you can aquire a variety of food and beverages, although you will have to go to the pool bar to order rather than wait for service.

It has to be said that service at the pool bar is 'leisurely', proper Seychelles old school style, but that's fine, we always got what we ordered whether it be pizza, samosa's or any of the range of beverages we ordered and prices were very reasonable. You just have to be patient!

The pool area is nice then, but do not stay in the resort as this is not the key selling feature of this property, instead that remains the beach. Without any doubt, the Berjaya Beau Vallon has THE best location on the famous Beau Vallon beach, further amplified with the closure of the Coral Strand. The beach is just wonderful, never busy and very safe to take a 3 year old to the sea.

There are beach loungers available and you'll find a variety of things to do that you wont find anywhere else in Seychelles, namely jet bikes, paragliding, inflatable rings and other motorised elements made to inject a little more high octane to your Seychelles visit! It has to be said that whilst the navy were in town, the guys at the water sports centre did a roaring trade.

Some people don't like this, but it's fine. The only place in Seychelles where this is legal and as there is only one speed boat and 3 jet bikes, it's hardly intrusive.

It's also worth mentioning that there is a dive company on site who take out divers to key sites and also who can organise fishing visits for the keen deep sea big game hunters. I did witness a guy who'd hauled in two very impressive marlin a couple of days before we left.

Food at Berjaya was not always it's strongest suit, but again, things are on the up. The breakfasts were generous in terms of choice, with cereals, cold and hot plates and a live cooking station for omlettes and other egg based delicacies! All very good.

Lunch was spent poolside with the pizzeria menu which is very westernised, but not lacking in quality or choice.

In the evening we split ourselves between the pizzeria and the Indian restaurant which exists in the main buffet area. The excellent news for the UK (we love our Indian) market being that not only is this option in your half board choice, but the quality is very good indeed! The only downside is this restaurant does not open until 7pm, which might be a little late for little ones.

Other facilities are the casino, which we didn't use, but is busy at weekends and the large bar area which was busy during the evenings and livened up with a band or karaoke creating a much livelier atmosphere that you'll find in most hotels around Seychelles.

Food prices are very reasonable as are drinks: Beers will cost you around £4, cocktails around £7 and a glass of wine a similar level and the food is very reasonable with a main course in the Indian costing £7 with a pizza with lots of trimmings coming in at £7.50.

Other facilities on hand are at least two handling companies who'll book your tours and car hire and the bus stop directly outside the main entrance that will take you to Victoria for your day (few hours) in the capital for around 50 pence.

It's also well worth noting that your mini bar is empty, not just so they can fill it for you with goodies, but they openly suggest that you head up to the local shop and buy your own drinks. So, if you want a beer for 90 pence or a coke for a similar cost, this is the way to do it. Well done to the hotel for understanding that folks would wish to do this.

In conclusion: Berjaya Beau Vallon is a very good venue for a family holiday to Seychelles, or at least part of it, for those folks looking for value for money, location and ease of getting around. The service is still not lightning fast, but you're not paying for it. The rooms have been upgraded and there are even improvements to the main block, which for so long has been the target of derision with its feeling of a unloved hospital.

I would suggest that if you can afford it, upgrade to a Deluxe or Garden room, it's well worth it, but if you cannot, don't worry. The standard rooms are fine and your holiday at Berjaya is not spent in the room, it's what happens outside that counts and all in all, this is a very saleable property.

I would definitely return and could easily have stayed there longer than the 6 nights we enjoyed this year. It's great that the place still offers good rates as it still means that most people could feasibly enjoy a holiday in Seychelles and surely that has to be a good thing.

Final point of note, for kids you have the pool and beach and the warmth of welcome of the Seychellois who always go that extra mile for families.

A lovely start to our best ever holiday to Seychelles.

We are maintaining the charm of this hotel which was build in the 70s with a much brighter chandelier in the lobby with more modern energy saving fittings. That is why the place looks better and brighter. Thanks to modern technology. Yes, we have also installed new LCD Tvs in all our rooms with more than 10 cable TV channels to select from. New and more comfortable beds have also been placed in all rooms. You have also noticed that we have revamp our breakfast selection, thanks to our new local Chef who is doing a great job. Our Indian specialty restaurant is getting a lot of positive reviews and we are glad our Indian Chef is constantly improving food and taste. Looking forward to welcoming you back. Thank you.

The Berjaya Beau Vallon Hotel arranged our wedding and they did a fantastic job! They took care of all the small details beautifully!

Accomodation: our travel agent suggested that we book a superior room in the garden - wonderful idea. The rooms weas great event hough the bathroom could have done with some sprucing up. Overall, the hotel's setting is really fantastic and on the famous Beau Vallon Beach. It is also close to bus routes and restaurants (if you do not feel like eating at the hotel - just mond the crabs on the beach after dark!).

Wedding details: They really did a fantastic job. I did not have to worry about any detail. The ceremony took place in the garden in a beautifully decorated lapa. It looked so pretty with all the flowers even the birds attended! They also took care of the music, flowers, cake etc - no problem. We opted to arrange a beach barbeque as celebration dinner which was fantastic! The variety and taste was superb - excellent value for money. The main chef prepared the meal on the beach and it was great!

This is not a %star hoel but all in all, great value for money!
