We recently went on the 6 hour tour of Boa Vista with Rich (Jen was laid up ill in bed and joined us later). What a great tour! Rich was very knowledgable about the island and the diversity of the places visited was surreal at times in going from stunning beach to a mini sand duned desert to Sal Rei the capital of Boa Vista. Our children loved the trip as well so I would definitely recommend this shorter version of the day trip to other families. We rounded off the trip with a really good lunch at yet another fabulous beach bar and went for a swim in the sea afterwards (which we were not able to do so easily on the southern part of the island as the sea is usually quite rough).
If you are going to Boa Vista I would definitely recommend taking a trip with Rich and Jen and if we return to the island in the future we will certainly be booking more trips with them.

Had a great day out. Booked before we left home. Lots of information presented in a fun way. Jen and Richard gave the personal touch which made all the difference, and a lovely photo as a momento.

Jen and Richard are really welcoming and lovely people, they have put an awful lot of thought into their tours, to tailor them to our needs. We did the full day experience which included visiting beaches , dunes, Sal Rei and a wonderful home cooked 3 course meal at a very beautiful setting in the north of the island, I would say don't miss out on this. The day finished off with a cocktail at the Morabeza bar near Sal Rei, what a beautiful setting. Whilst there we decided to book for the Saturday evening Lobster dinner with tasting of local drinks , buffet ,drummers/fire eaters followed by 1kg of lobster each (very yummy). Collection and drop off at the hotel included was exceptional value for money as we stayed at the Touareg 30 mins drive away. I would totally recommend booking with Giggling rather than Thomsons, reasons being ... you see so much more, small group, very friendly and knowledgable and ver reasonably priced. Thanks Jen and Richard, we wish you all the best with Giggling Gecko's Helen and Julia

We'd already got in touch with Richard at Giggling Gecko online before we went on our holiday to Boa Vista.
We were impatient to get out of our hotel so went on a hotel organised quad tour a few days into our holiday (we had booked to go with Richard on the 6th day of our stay) and it made us realise just how little English speaking people are catered for! There wasn't much info given during the day to our French quadding companions and I think we had about 3 words of English thrown our way through the whole afternoon.
We had a morning tour and it was very personal and chatty between everyone involved.
Richard knows the locals so you feel much more welcome in the village you visit, Povocae Vehla (check spelling! :-D).
Also we found the hotel very self contained ... there isn't much on the island anyway but you aren't encouraged by the hotels to go and see for yourself so Richard was a huge help recommending places to eat at and visit in Sal Rei.
He also told us about the carnival there towards the end of our stay which is always on Shrove Tuesday (get out there and have a look if you visit in Februray!) which was a major highlight (alongside the tour of course!!)

I would advise to email and book before you go as it is very difficult to get in touch once you are there unless you have your laptop and wifi as the hotels are reluctant to put you through to him seeing as he is an independant trip company, not hotel organised.

10 star morning tour
