The only place for miles with a varied menu. You need to book as Sharon will only open the restaurant if she has any bookings, the bar is generally always open. Sharon is a great cook and if you want something special such as Lobsters just ask and she will provide it if you let her know in advance.

Earlier in the day, we had set up on the main Castara beach. To get to the restaurant there is a hilly hike of about 400 yards, but you can always swim over instead - it's a lot shorter by water. The decor is funky and full of character, and of course everywhere, the view of the Castara cost is spectacular. The beachside deck was perfect, for lunch, with the shady (almond?) trees still hung with Christmas ornaments. We watched as the fish were caught in nets by local fishermen and hand delivered to the restaurant, where they were cleaned, fileted and cooked on the spot. It doesn't get any fresher than this. The staff (Sharon and company) was highly attentive and very interested in the Tobago experiences of our college group of 22. After lunch, we rolled out the towels by the restaurant beach, where we even had a pickup Cricket match, using cut-off palm fronds as bats, sticks in the sand as wickets, and "wind balls" (relabeled tennis balls) ... making frequent trips back to the restaurant (about 40 feet away) for refreshments. Locals of all ages began to join the match. It was hard to have to leave. It would be great just to stay here all day, every day.

We had already been in Castara for 4 full days before venturing to The Boat House for dinner. We had been to several other local places and were expecting the same. But we were treated to a very good show of african drummers (islanders on african drums) and man in costume on stilts dancing to the drummers and needless to say the food was some of the best we had had while in Castara. I as the only guest to dance with the man on stilts and the beat of the drums made me do it! I also took the opportunity to pick up one of the free drums and drummed all night with the band. It was great fun! We will definitely return.
