Really nice apartment. I stayed 3 nights .
I would add two things to this apartments:
1) A broom, so customers can sweep the sand.
2) Would make fix shower draining in apartment 1, it is not working well.
Thank you for the nice stay. Your apartment keepers are friendly and helpful.
10 out of 10. Couldn`t be anything less. Unbeatable location, attentive staff, spacious well appointed units, sprung mattresses, patio-balconies, pool and breakfast bar. On top of the beach and within an easy walking distance of a number of reasonable eating spots. Ideal for a quiet re-charge of the batteries or for a stress-free family-oriented holiday far removed from resort hotels, beach vendors and glass bottom boats. Exceptional value for money. Highly recommended.
Stayed here for 2 weeks in April very friendly and helpful and stayed on top floor which has a great view, rooms were very spacious especially the bathroom...right on the beach ...definitely stay again
Just lovely, great staff, so helpful and friendly. The balcony of the room was just wonderful, large, extremely comfy with lovely view. Everything you could need in kitchen area with good sized fridge freezer. Not a 'posh' place but comfortable and clean.
Possibly not a good spot for travellers with mobility issues.
Bar/restaurant next to the Angel Retreat, fine for a very decent meal and drinks!
I stayed at Angel Retreat during December 2015 and a had wonderful, relaxing time. The balconies attached to every room provide a breath taking view of the ocean (especially at sunset), the soothing sounds of the waves, and a soft ocean breeze. My mornings consisted of yoga classes with Linda, an excellent and vibrant certified yoga instructor. Linda is also the hotel's manager and is extremely kind and helpful, as is Dexter, the owner of the hotel. Together the two made my trip to Tobago even better. My days were filled trips around the island to various beaches, snorkeling spots, and waterfalls, all of which were within an hour drive away. There is an excellent snorkeling spot, delicious restaurants, and markets all within a ten minute walk of the hotel. I would highly recommend Angel Retreat to all my friends. And while you are there, I recommend eating at Cascreole Restaurant for excellent local dishes.
The apartment was everything we needed and was positioned perfectly to explore the island from end to end. The kitchen was perfect and allowed us to have our own groceries to make meals. Castara is a great little village and is effectively an affordable all inclusive resort with no need to leave. A/C worked well and the apartment had plenty of space to spread out. A coffee maker would be the only addition to make the place better but instant coffee did the trick. Highly recommend these apartments and will stay again if I return to Castara.
On arrival at the hotel was a bit disappointing. There was no one at the reception to direct us to our room etc. We were not sure if this was the correct location. After waking early to catch a ferry to Toabgo and all the naseau medication we were really tired. I had emailed a message the day before to confirm that we may arrive between 2 and 3 p.m. We arrived about 2.35 p.m.. We sat in the office and waited about 20 mins before I decided to call the number on my last message. Linda answered and explained that she was on her way there and the only two of the rooms were ready of the three we reserved. I was not sure which were the rooms. Eventually a maid with some kids came and we were shown two of the rooms that were ready. We all piled into the two rooms as we were all tired.
We got bath towels and hand towels in one room. One room got no towels and one room had only one bath towels.
The dishes were in good condition. The refrigerator was old and making funny noises. The toilet was leaking water. My husband fixed it.
Honestly this would be a good place for a quiet stay with no extras. Internet is available but not very strong bars. No TV etc. I would not recommend for kids who love electronics but adults who want to get away from city life to a quiet and basic living would enjoy this retreat.
The beach is beautiful and quiet, very lovely indeed. There were many stray dogs on the beach and dog poop everywhere. My kids were grossed out when they bumped into them. I love animals but I am not sure how clean the dogs were that were rolling around in the sand so I cautioned the kids to not play in the sand (incase they dug up more poop). There was dog poop outside our room door one morning.
My family and extended family enjoyed our Tobago stay. We spent most of our time out of the hotel. There is a great little breakfast place as you exit down the street. Entrance to the hotel is a very steep road.
No maid service so you have to clean up after your self. No iron in the room. The water was nice and hot for bathing. Good water pressure. The bathroom was big so you could store suitcases etc. There is one bedroom with a Queen bed that has AC. One bed is in the room with the kitchenette but that was fine because the space is big.
Top floor would be the best view but it is many many stairs to climb. Middle floor was fine where we stayed. The pool was great. Kids enjoyed that.
My family has gotten a bit spoiled with the more luxurious accommodation so some complained. This location is suitable for the rustic, quiet self sufficient traveler.
