Family run, honest - Oasis taverna is one of the best choices you'll have in south coast of Crete, no doubt about that.

“Authentic Greek Cusine & wonderful view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

I have been eating at this place ever since it opened in the early 90s.

Unlike many of the tavernas in the area, this one is tastefully decorated (I especially love the stone wall entirely made of some glittery local stone - beautiful) and it has the most gorgeous, completely unobstructed sea view. When vacationing in Crete, this is a great place to enjoy the impressive sunset from their patio.

But the food is equally good and fresh. It is authentic Cretan cuisine, prepared by the owners, Nikos and Katerina Manouselis, themselves. Whether it is stuffed tomatoes, moussaka, pastitio, choriatiki (Greek salad made with tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions) or the local specialty, Sfakian pie (a sort of pancake, made with fresh local cheese and drizzled with honey), everything tastes great and most importantly authentic.

Over the years I have been to several taverns in the area but keep coming back here because this place offers the perfect mix of atmosphere, view and delicious food. Highly recommend.

“great food in this pretty taverna by the sea”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2012

we went to Frangokastello to swim in the beautiful small bay and stopped here for lunch. The terrace has lovely views of the sea, and is a quiet and idyllic spot. Lunch was fantastic. No menu, but you choose at the counter. We had stuffed vegetables and a baked pasta dish which were fresh, and beautifully prepared. You can stay here too, and the little villas look nice. It would be a great place to spend a few days.
