You reach this property by an air service in small planes (weather permitted) from Windhoek. A fresh and cool design in the middle of the desert with a devoted staff expects you. The rooms are beautiful with great vistas through a big glass front into the desert and to the famous dunes. Rangers are at your disposal to take you around to see the nature and the desert animals. It is in the desert in the middle of nowhere - and you feel in paradise taking a shower under the stars in your open air shower. The four poster beds with mosquito nets are very comfortable so is the outside deck with a tiny plunge pool in front of your room with stylish sun beds and a covered sitting area, The food is lodge style and basic but a great wine list expects you. Everybody in the staff is very kind and helpful

Little Kulala was perfect. We'd just completed a pretty amazing 10 day tour of Namibia in a group of 8. My wife and I wanted a couploe of days R&R before flying back home. This hotel absolutely fit the bill.

The individual lodges were perfect: large bedroom and living area, kitchen area with well stocked drinks cabinet, bathroom with two basins and two showers, loo. Outside: covered area, sunbeds, another shower, our own plunge pool, and all very private - aside from straight looking out on the desert and mountains. Upstairs on the roof terrace was a table and chairs (for sundowners). We slept up there on both nights, under the stars. Magical (they cn fit it out with a comfy mattress and duvet).

Food was great - b'fast, lunch and dinner. Nice wine. Table for two, looking out on the waterhole (ostriches, springbok, fox). Service was great. The staff were very professional and friendly and attentive. The manager (Daphne) was terrific. Really concerned to ensure that we had what we needed and did what we wanted to do. We went walking on our own rather than taking game drives (as we'd been doing drives for most of our group trip).

Overall it was just what we were looking for. Sure, not cheap, but the perect end to our trip to Namibia. A very special place for us to remember.

We took the balloon trip from here (excellent) and you can also do the dunes (fantastic - we did these from Kulala Desert Lodge which is good but a notch or so below Little Kulala). To get back to Windhoek we took a Wilderness Safari flight from the nearby landing strip to Windhoek.

My husband and I travelled through Namibia and decided to treat ourselves for the last 2 nights. We were given a rate per room per night on the telephone which, on arrival turned out to be per person per night! Although the lodge is beautiful and the staff were very helpful, $750 per person per night is ludicrous! For that amount of money I would expect perfection and sadly this is not what we got. At dinner, the steak was so tough and chewy that I could not eat it. I was asked how I liked my meal and I informed them that my steak was not good....they took it away and that was that. The rooms have windows on 3 sides to give remarkable views, however, with temperatures of 43 degrees, the ac in the room could not cope with the heat and so we did not sleep well. All in all we were very disappointed with this lodge. We stayed in some wonderful lodges, guest houses and B&Bs in Namibia for a fraction of the cost. I don't mind paying for quality and exceptional service but sadly this hotel is just ripping people off.

The lodge is beautiful. The rooms/bungalows are spacious and comfortable, and there is an option to sleep on the roof, under the stars, on comfortable bedrolls that are provided. The dining room had an excellent view of a man-made waterhole, at which we saw ostrich, oryx, impala, hyenas, and there was a large social weaver bird nest. In the distance across the plain you can see some of the Sossusvlei dunes. The rooms have indoor and outdoor showers, and we shared our indoor shower with a large gecko! All in all, a fantastic place to stay.
