“Lovely stay”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

Stayed as part of a wedding party.
Lovely hotel. The wedding staff were all very nice and not overly attentive.
Room was huge, very clean and well laid out. Staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful, particlularly at reception.
Would definitely like to return to enjoy the spa and leisure activities

We had a reallly pleasant stay in the hotel. We loved the big rooms (which were big enough to have the children with us without feeling cramped). The double bed were in fact two single beds pushed together, but it was okay. The bed itself was very comfortable. WLAN did not work for me, but to be fair I did not spend much time trying and did not ask for help.

The toilet and bathroom are seperated, there is a showed and a bathtube in the bathroom which is nice.

The air conditioning was nice, too.

A big plus was the breakfast. You can choose yourself and go and help yourself, which makes it really the way you want it. You can chose from many different things.

The kids loved the pool, even though it has the same depth everywhere (why?). There are no individual changing rooms but then you are staying in the place, so you can work around that.

The only downfall was that they really started to work on the golf course at 6:30 am which woke us. But we would return for sure.

Just back from the hotel we stayed a week in the holiday lodges . Although the lodges could do with a bit of painting that would be the one and only fault I could find .
The houses are a great size as we are a family of six . Very clean and Comfortable. The team that organise the children activities are fantastic the kids club was really enjoyable and the high tea took all the stress away from us. Plenty to do for the children who never got bored. Mary and Cathy who organise all the events are so kind and helpful. The staff around the whole hotel are very friendly and children are so well looked after and warmly welcomed . It's definitely once of the most child friendly hotels in Ireland and we will be back .

We (family of 5) stayed at this hotel July 2011 and again in July 2013 in the 3 bedroom houses (1 double and 4 single beds). They have houses located near the children's playground which my 3 children loved. There is electric gates at entrance to houses. Our school aged children attended the kids club 3 mornings and they thoroughly enjoyed it. We also enjoyed a family table quiz in which we were delighted to win and the prize was dinner in the restaurant for our family. The staff were very attentive and the food was excellent. The food in the bar is delicious although service can be slow, can be short staffed at times. The spa is beautiful I booked a scalp massage which was fantastic until about half way through the music stopped and I could hear the receptionist talking with other members of staff and other noises which completely ruined the relaxating atmosphere, I was disappointed. We met 2 families there who have come there 7yrs and 4yrs in a row so that says a lot about the hotel. We will be returning to this hotel for another relaxing family break.

We held a special birthday at the hotel. The staff, service and food were without doubt superb. All the attendees at the event were very warm in their praise of the staff and the food. The portions were very substantial and the desserts scrumptious.

Our event was held in the Library and the size and set up really complimented the party number. I would highly recommend this venue for a family event.

Room Tip: The Library for an intimate family event is ideal and had two sets of double doors that lead out int...

Stayed for 3 nights with my wife and 2 children. The stay was great in many ways, but there are a lot of "buts"!

Rooms were a good size with empty fridge for food, but the windows were quite small.
The food in the restaurant was excellent, but it was the exact same menu for three nights in a row, which made it quite tedious. Some of the meals didn't make the grade.
The waiting staff in the restaurant were lovely, but they seemed really tired - the same people were serving breakfast and dinner, so it was a really long day for them.
The grounds were lovely, but since it was a golf course, it was no good for walking or running on.
The pool was OK, but it got really crowded - there were 40 people in it (including and aqua aerobics class) at one stage!
There is a kids club, but to be honest it seemed like an excuse for one, with limited activities. It was really a golf hotel that wanted to tap into the family break market, the hotel needs to decide which one it is, or try better to succeed in both. There was a bouncy castle out the back but it was wet and dirty, and wasn't getting much use. The next day it wasn't even inflated.
There is High Tea for the kids, but our boys didn't really enjoy it, and I quote "The food wasn't nice and the lady in charge was really bossy", they didn't want to go back. In fairness, the food seemed very average, small crispy pizzas, also one of the starters was "Fresh Fruit Juice" but was in fact Squeez juice, from concentrate. When leaving the lads up there, the lady in charge seemed really stroppy and, well, didn't seem to like children. I know it's a tough gig, but try to act the part! Also hard to find (go in the golf shop entrance, it's up the stairs on the left, no signage).
The location is nice enough, but there is very little to do in Tullow, or around. A trip to Kilkenny city, a walk along the Barrow river, trips to Glendalough or Powerscourt are some possibilities.
I can't comment on the golf as I didn't partake, but that seemed to be pretty good.
Great gym there, and the spa treatment my wife got was very good.
Bar staff were enthusiastic, but most seemed to be very inexperienced.
That all said, it was good value for money, it's just that it seems that with a tiny bit more effort on the hotel's part it could have being fantastic, instead it falls somewhere between Average and Very Good, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

Room Tip: Get room facing golf course.
