“Great thermal spa”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

I spent a night here in February as part of a girls night away.
The hotel seems to be an excellent choice for both couples getaway, famlies and girls night away.
I will definitley return for a weekend with my husband.
The staff were very friendly and accomodating.
The Thermal Spa is fabulous, a great place to spend your day away with friends.
the next morning we tried the leisure centre facilites, these were also very good.
Breakfast staff were very friendly, and they were coping with a full dining room.
I would recommend Mt Wolseley Hotel and Spa

My Boyfriend and I stayed at Mount Wolseley for a romantic weekend. From the moment we arrivd i have o say we were made feel so welcome. the hotel was amazing. I have stayed in many a hotel in Ireland I found Mount Wolseley standards very high. the room was lovely and spacious , well laid out and spotlessly clean. We dined in the hotel restaurant and the service was second to none we were made feel like real VIPs. The Restaurant manager P.J attended to our every request. He made my birthday even more special by making me feel like a princess :) . All the staff were attentive and friendly. We availed of the spa facilities which were also of a very high standard. we are already looking forward to the next visit. x

The positives are very "on the ball" management;excellent, reasonably priced bar food (didn't enjoy Fredericks or breakfast, sorry); very helpful staff everywhere in the hotel; very good value midweek rate, oh and a really lovely ladies boutique which was selling off their winter stock so we got some great bargains! It is what it is, it's a country wedding hotel, a little dated but if you're looking for a good value, quiet midweek break its great. Our bill was about €280 for two nights, dinner in the bar one night, dinner in the restaurant the other, and a couple of glasses of wine with both dinners. Truly excellent value! Travel down midweek, eat in the bar and you'll have a lovely, cheap stay...

Came down for a night stay after spotting a special offer on web. Had no problems finding the place, well sign posted. Staff very attentive throughout our stay and provided great service. Food was fantastic and good value. Hotel was very busy on the day but didn't seem to affect the service. Very family friendly spot, will be coming back again soon.

Delighted we booked for 1night,and availed of an excellent deal on the Hotel web page. Our lovely twenty something's and our 1teenager were so busy over Christmas and New Year we had very little time on our own with them. Mt Wolesely is a short hop from Dublin. We arranged an early check in,and a late checkout, without incurring any extra charges. Arriving at 13.00 hrs gave us time to unpack and orientate ourselves. The boys played 9 holes of golf in daylight! Our daylight hours are so short at this time of year. For the girls...spa,gym,a swim...take your pick. The Aaron lounge area is lovely and the seating is very comfortable. We dined in the Aaron Lounge and the food was good for all of us. There was music from the 70s later in the lounge. Hearty Breakfast for all on Sunday am. We packed a lot in 24hrs and to polish it off.....we even got to see a Rugby Match in Tullow Rugby Club on the way home. Would love to go to Mt Wolesely again.

Room Tip: We requested a quiet area for our rooms when we booked.

I had booked 2 nights in Mount Wolseley very nice hotel but I have to say no atmosphere at all considering it was the week before Christmas. I thought there might be a bit of a buzz but know. The staff were pleasant but not overly friendly.
Would have to seriously consider staying there again.

Dear Ger S,
We would like to thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. All reviews are seen as a positive tool in trying to keep standards as high as is possible within the Hotel.
We are surprised and disappointed at your comments about the atmosphere in the hotel during your stay as we would have had entertainment provided during the festive period and the hotel was very busy in December as a whole. Also we spend a lot of time and effort on our Christmas Decorations to create a good festive mood including a lovely Ginger Bread House at reception and external lighting.
We are delighted to hear that our staff were pleasant but on the negative not very helpful, this has been noted as we are constantly doing in-house training and your comments will definitely be addressed with our staff as we always strive to a friendly, efficient & helpful team.
Thank you again for your feedback on our Hotel. Being Family Run we strive to achieve the highest standards at all time and do take all comments good and bad on board.

My husband, baby son and I stayed in one of the holiday homes at mount wolesley with my sister, her husband and their toddler son.
The house was a good size, 4 bedrooms, large living space which was ideal for little ones. (Tiny old fashioned tv though...not ideal) Kitchen was well equipped, bedrooms were fine. Overall I would rate the house as 3star though, reasons being, it could def do with lick of paint, one of the windows in one bedroom was broken and therefore could not be closed completely which led to constant draft. The master bedroom had a leak in thought the balcony doors. The cots which we asked for were travel cots, which would be fine if they supplied a mattress too....they didn't and none were available. So this led us to wrapping a duvet around the base of the travel cot to make some kind of a suitable bed for my 8th month old and my nephew (1.5yr). This led to one very sleepless first night, the older boy could not sleep in the cot and had to go in the bed with my sister. My little fella kept waking as he kept rolling sideways in the cot because of the lumpy base....disaster! My advice, bring your own mattress if you are bringing a baby - it was cruel. The housekeeper even said to us, that they must be wicked uncomfortable to sleep in.....well please fix it so! You wouldn't provide a bed for adults with no mattress! We were so tired we didn't even make an issue about this, we were told they would supply bigger cot for my nephew but it never came and eventually we were told they couldn't locate one.
We ate our lunch in the hotel once and had dinner there one evening (in the bar)....food was fine but again not 4* and menu was poor. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, the architecture, decor and setting is not far off 5*. I would love to see what the bedrooms were like and if on a par with downstairs - if they were I would love to stay in the hotel (minus the child!)
I used the gym and pool and these were great facilities, gym v modern and pool was heated to perfection, babies were happy out in it!
So overall I suppose a very mixed review but don't let it put you off staying here, maybe we were unlucky with holiday home condition.

Dear Juniorfog/Guest,
We would like to thank you for taking the time to review our Resort and for your feedback.
Regarding the Holiday Home we would like to apologies for the snag items that were not satisfactory in the house. We can assure you that we are constantly maintaining our Lodges and a full snag has been done of the houses in Jan/Feb.
Your dissatisfaction and comments on the travel cot are noted and we can only apologies for the bad nights sleep your child got. This is not acceptable and has been noted for the future. We do supply travel cots on request but sometimes there are so many requests we run out so we have invested in more to counter act this supply issue.
On your comment on the bar menu, we are disappointed to hear you were not happy with the menu as it normally is very well received. We have recently up-dated our menu for the season ahead & would welcome your comments if you had a minute. It can be views on http://www.mountwolseley.ie/cmsFiles/aaron_lounge_menu_mar_2013.pdf (comments to lmorrissey@mountwolseley.ie)
Thank you for your nice comments on our Leisure Facilities. We do hope that you will consider Mount Wolseley in the future as all your comments have been taken on board. We do find this type of feedback very helpful as being a family run hotel we are constantly striving to improve the standards to our guests.
