“Fascinating piece of Bavarian history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2011

We visited the Open Air Museum of Bayerischer Wald, Titling and it was a step back in time! There are over 150 houses from 1580 - 1850 - allow time for exploring. The old farm implements are amazing, the water mills fascinating, the life style a real eye-opener. The water mill was first recorded in 1430 and the musuem buildings are on this original site. A Blacksmith, Saw Mill, Old School house. Shrine, Barns, and many more are all worth a wander - displays of tools, clothing, religious artefacts, furniture, crafts etc take one back to another era.

This museum has preserved the old Bavarian way of life and is interesting for both adults and children.

As with most things in Germany, English explanations are non-existant but it is still a worthwhile experience to see how life was lived in Bavaria so many years ago.

“must be the largest in Bavaria”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2010

With its 150 buildings (not all open tough) and 20 ha, this must be the largest open air museum in Bavaria, and it is beautifull! Plenty of levels, so to climb a little, and to descend a little... The museumsrestaurant is just outside the museum, and next to the entrance and museumsshop. Do not try to see this one in a hurry, as it is more than interesting. The pix are just a few compared to rhe amount there is to see. Please do so...
