Agave Landings

My wife and I went to Antigua on November and stayed in Agave Landings Cottage.
The cottage is wonderful, the balcony with a great view of Freyies Beach is superb and Emy and Margot are very kind and helpful!!!
The best place to stay!!

Room Tip: Cottage is a single building higher than the building with apartments, but the apartments are bigger...

If your looking at rentals then I would recommend here. Its remote enough but yet everything is within easy reach. Views and the tranquillity of the place is foremost. Fryes beach is one of the best beaches too. This is our second time there at Agave - once as a family unit and just as a couple. Absolutely great on both occasions.

We have stayed at a number of the 'all inclusive' resorts on the island, but definitely prefer the do it yourself approach. . . greater satisfaction from this.

The management of the site / ease at booking / is fantastic! Very good service!

Room Tip: We have stayed at the 2 bedroom unit as welll as the 1 bed. Both were very good and its a shame I di...

Agave Landings is located very close to the sea, in front of one of the best beach of Antigua, Fryes beach. And several of the best beaches are close as well. Also the village of Jolly Harbour is very close (less than 5 min by car) where you can find markets, restaurants, pubs, and whatever else you can need.
The apartments are really beautiful, the decor is complete and Caribbean-style, both air condition and fan are available, terrace with sea view. In our opinion the best way to live a beautiful island like Antigua, better than a resort. A car rental is advised to visit the many beaches.
On top of that RoseMarie and Paul, the owners, are incredibly kind and available. They will support you for any needs.
We can't wait to go back there again, hopefully soon!!

A very good solution for visit Antigua. We stayed for four nights at the Avave Landings cottage. It's a delicious cottage with a beautiful view on the sea. We have rent a car and visit almost all the island, but also near the cottage there are beautifus beaches and good restaurants.

We just got back from a week in Antigua, and we stayed for three nights at the Agave Landings cottage. We loved it!

I'd done a good bit of research and knew that I wanted to be on the southwestern side of the island for the beautiful blue Caribbean ocean, and we got it. Agave is a short distance from Ffreyes beach (though to be honest, I'd rather drive than walk, since I don't want to broil in the sun), which is lovely and didn't seem to be frequented by too many other tourists. (There were a couple boats that stopped there in the middle of the afternoon, discharging their 20 tourists or so and then gathering them back up an hour or so later. The beach also has two small shade shelters, though one's roof is a bit hole-y. I'd still prefer my own umbrella though.)

The cottage at Agave was wonderful -- clean and cozy, and both the owner and the on-island managers were wonderfully responsive and helpful. The cottage does have a TV, a local phone line, and WiFi, if you're concerned about technology. It also has a stovetop, oven (no temperature-marked knob though, just have to eyeball the gas flame), and microwave, refrigerator, blender, iron/ironing board, hair dryer, and there's a tiny cooler for you to take with you to the beach too! There's a washing machine downstairs, a drying rack outside, a grill, and even a cute little swingset for kids. The cottage itself has both an a/c unit and fans.

It was so nice to sit on the balcony and watch the sunset and have a cool drink of water in the evenings. The cottage is up a flight of stairs from the parking area for Agave, which is on somewhat of a steep hill, but this isn't an issue unless you're mobility-impaired. Since you're up on the hill a bit, you have a clear view to the beach and of the surrounding area, which is great for the aforementioned sunsets!

Agave is just a short drive away from Jolly Harbor, which is great because the Epicurean supermarket is there, which has all sorts of things: prepared food, deli meats, cheese and pate, snacks, beer, toiletries, etc. We took a couple of trips from Agave which were a 45 min drive or so, but if you don't want to drive much (left-hand side of the road, remember!) then you have lovely beaches and tasty food (Dennis Bar and Restaurant, garlic shrimp, yum) nearby.

We also appreciated that Agave is a gated property, so you need a code to get in the gate. We found it to be quiet and relaxing, though we were the only people there at the time, so I suppose that could potentially change if there were other people in the other apartments. The cottage itself is detached and has plenty of privacy, though.

So, to sum up: Beautiful, convenient location, clean and lovely cottage with all the amenities you could want, great owner/managers, and a wonderful relaxing vacation for us!

We just returned home after a three-month stay a Agave Landings. It was absolutely wonderful! In fact, we are returning for three more months next year. The staff were friendly and efficient, accommodating our needs and requests; the facilities were great and the setting was heavenly. It is but a short walk to the beach, where there is an outdoor shower to help you get the sand and salt off. The beach itself is gorgeous, mostly empty of other tourists and is generally only busy on Sundays, when the locals use it. Even then, most would not consider it busy at all, especially if you were used to beaches in Hawaii or even other beaches in Antigua on which there are resorts.

The accommodations at Agave Landings are clean, attractive and spacious, with outstanding views of the countryside and the sunset (at least from the upstairs suites). The grounds are well landscaped, with flowers galore and if you happen to be there during the blooming of the jasmine, the scent in the evening is intoxicating! The only times any of the windows were closed was during a rain; otherwise they were open to the breezes and the birdsong.

It is easy to get around by bus, making a car rental not really necessary; certainly we never needed one.

Room Tip: Upstairs suites offer the best views.

We went to Antigua for the first time with two friends. We were their for eleven days and wanted a place away from the crouds but still close to the necesities of life. We were just overwelmed at how wonderful Agave Landings turned out. It was much better then we ever expected. Three wonderful beaches within a short walk, restrauants you could walk to or a short drive away. very good staff and support, they took care of you like they new you and you were a friend. It was wonderful and we will return. Our dates of travel were Jan 2012.
