The Verandah is in a beautiful location. The views out over the sea are spectacular and the location at the end of a long bay means that the sea is calm and safe.

We stayed in a water-front cottage, very spacious with a separate loung/kitchen area and fantastic view over the bay. We were lucky to be very close to the beach, pool and restaurant area. The resort covers a very large area and the outerlying cottages are up to 10 mins walk from the resort centre. We found the 'golf cart' service which runs around thre resort to be erratic. A return trip to the Reception (at the Resort entrance) took an unbelievable 45 mins.

The beach and pools are simply beautiful. The resort was pretty empty when we stayed, so plenty of sun loungers available. We often saw goats and donkeys on the beach, which was fun. A shame about the topless bathing, anyone over 30 should simply not do this!!!!

There are soft drinks available on the beach, but for anything else you will need to walk up a flight of steps to the bar. This is no real issue unless you have several drinks to carry. We found our Tray highly useful.

Food was OK, not great. We were not allowed to eat in Nicole's as our party of 13 was considered too large, even though we offered to split up. The service ranged from excellent to frankly rude, which is a real shame as with a little bit of effort with this could make such a difference. There was a marked improvement on our last night when the Manager was around.

Most of the staff really were very pleasant, very good with the children and always friendly. It was just a few that let the side down, but unfortunately it tends to be this that you remember. Security-wise the hotel felt very safe.

Overall we had a great stay, and would recommend the Verandah. Do not go on any basis other than full-board or All-inclusive, there is nothing much near by and prices in the shops at the Verandah are extortionate. Recommend walking over to Devil's Bridge (no more than 10 mins walk). We also went on the Antigua Rainforest zip-lining tour, and thoroughly recommend this.

We stayed at the Verandah over the last week of september/ first week of October, despite many weather channels reporting storms etc...the weather could not have been better!
The resort was very clean and well maintained, the majority of the staff were friendly and very helpful.
The facilities were excellent, we took advantage of the spa and had massages which i would highly recommend to anyone!
All 3 restaurants were very nice and the food was always of a high standard.
We were very pleased with our room, which was very large with a very comfortable bed, flat screen TV and a fantastic view from the balcony.
The only negative about the resort would be the entertainment in the evenings, for us being a young couple we found it a little dull at times and could have done with a bit more variety.
We took a trip on the Sunday to Shirley Hights which is must the views are spectacular and the atmosphere is electric.
All in all the Verandah was the perfect choice for relaxation and we would gladly return!

We stayed at the Verandah for 1 week and loved everything about it. The bungalow style accomodation was very spacious, clean, and had everything we needed including a kitchenette area. The view from our Verandah was fantastic despite only having a water view rather than water front suite. The food was very good for an all inclusive resort, especially the evening al a carte meals which were restaurant standard, we especially enjoyed Nicole's. Even the buffet breakfast and lunch was lovely, I would recomend trying the omlettes, the beach bar a grill was also good for lunch with excellent views over the beach.
We prefered the main beach as it was close to the bar and pool and the pools were lovely, we also tried kayaking and hobby kat sailing. The trip to Shirley heights is worthwhile for the views alone and it wasn't too expensive approximately $6.50 for 2 beers and if you want to eat there bbq chicken with salad is approximately $10 and very tasty.
We also went to the spa (for a massage and green caffiene wrap), it's wasn't cheap but very relaxing and I think worth the money.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful, overall a great holiday and we would have liked to stay longer. Recomend you also try mango daquiri's and take mosquito repellent!

We have just returned from 10 days at The Verandah and I have to say it was probably one of the most relaxing and enjoyable holidays we have had for a long time.
The rooms are lovely, a huge bed, a sofa, a microwave, kettle, fridge and the bathroom is massive! His and her sinks, a bath so huge you could almost swim in it! The towels and linen are changed when you request it, every day if you want.
The grounds are impressive, well maintained and beautiful, a little steep in places though, but not uncomfortable. There is a buggy type bus that will pick you up and take you to reception or where you want to go, just flag it down or you can ring reception and it will pick you up at your door!
On the whole the food is good, plenty of it and a fairly good choice. My husband really enjoyed the spinage and sauteed mushrooms for breakfast!! I stuck with fruit and omlette.
The pool was good, but we prefered the beach. We only spent 1 day at the pool, I suspect it could get very busy in high season.
The beach is a bit small, but the sea is incredibly warm with milky white sand, The fish are very freindly and enjoyed nibbling fingers and toes. One day we saw a huge fish (about 3 foot) with a fin, the locals asured us it was a harmless Cobbler! Snorkelling was great near the rocks and it was fun in the kyaks. The beach was often visited by donkeys and goats and the pelicons are well worth watching when they fish.
The staff were really friendly, always a big smile and a cheery good morning! We had a great stay and would definately go back.
If we had to find a negative the beach, pool and bar areas would be tight if the resort was filled to capasity.

My husband and I came back from the Verandah on 24 September after a week's holiday. We were totally impressed with the resort. We liked the fact that because it was not too big, it did not become in-personal. Larger hotels you cam sometimes feel lost and just a number.

Do not listen to the negative reviews on Trip Advisor, I made the decision to go based on the more recent reviews being positive. I think the early hiccups were due to building works. I am so glad that I wasn't influenced by the negative reviews.

If you are looking for a holiday where you want lots of night life, this is not for you, as the pace is different and that is what we loved. The hotel always provided entertainment. I particularly liked the magician.

I found all of the hotel staff to be extremely friendly and cannot believe that people have said they are un-friendly. I do believe however that "please" and "thank you" go a long way, and that if you are rude to staff, then maybe you don't get the best service.

Our room was very near to the restraunts and the pool so were extremely lucky (the location was ideal). The main pool was superb - always spotless and comfortable sunbeds (for a change). Not too overcrowded either, which was lovely.

The rooms were immaculate and spacious. Not ultra plush, but could not fault them. The bathrooms were huge, you could easily bathe your whole family in there.

We found the food was of a high standard. Nicoles gave fantastic service and made you feel special. They were extremely attentive. This is not a complaint, just an observation, the meals sometimes were a little bland, but of an extremly high standard. Use the beach bar in the day as well, lovely snacks. Fish fingers were great.

Drinks were great and lovely cocktails. Also used branded spirits, not cheap equivalents. No need to worry eiher about drinking bottled water or ice cubes (which always worries me) as they had some water filtering system.

Free internet use which I used when it rained one day - in guest services! The shop is very expensive. I bought a botte of rum at 25USD and could have bought it in St Johns for 10 USD. Cigarettes are very cheap in Antigua- 19 USD for 200. Either buy them on the plane or at the airport going home. The airport hoing home is not good for shopping, but at least it was air-conditioned!

We did 2 trips - went to St John's. There was not a lot there, obviously aimed at the cruise ships - diamonds and tacky souveniers. Found some of the locals were quite pushy almost to the point of getting nasty if you didn't buy souveniers from their stall. Went on the Virgin Catamaran Trip - this was excellent. A great way to see the Island and a lovely way to catch the sun! I would realy recommend this trip.

We also walked to Devil's Bridge on our first day there via the road and got lost. Do not be fooled when it is over-cast, we got extremely sun burnt. Go via the path from the beach - only 10 minutes!

I also had a massage whilst I was at the Verandah - Deep Tissue. I throughly enjoyed this and would recommend this to you if you are considering having one whilst you are there.

All in all, this was fabulous holiday and you will not be disappointed. But please bear in mind, it is a chill out holiday.

I have to honestly say, we have never ever considered going back somewhere twice because we like to try different destinations as that is part of the excitement , but we are considering it . Why run the risk of going somewhere which may not live up to this?

Stayed at this resort 19th Sep - 3rd Oct. Did consider changing to another resort after reading some negative comments - so pleased we didn't. We have been fortunate enough to visit different caribbean islands and can't fault the Antiguan people - so friendly.

Beautiful resort kept in immaculate condition. Did not find one rude member of staff at all. Found all staff friendly and helpful, a special thanks to Samuel, Neil, Lionel, Abbe, Margaret, Roberta, Nicole, Steve, Judian, Vera, Michael and Felisia.

Security not a problem at all, we were always last out of the bar late at night or should I say "Office" as we all renamed it and felt safe walking back to our room or around the resort.

Rooms are gorgeous and cleaned daily, there could be noise from the next room which I think the hotel may need to look at.

There is a dress code in the restaurants which we didn't know about, they were trying to enforce a shirt with a collar (polo shirt will do) but they did allow 3/4 trousers.

No charge at Nicoles yet which was really nice and service impeccable. Only critisim with the restaurants is lack of choices for people who don't eat much meat or vegetarians. The buffet was very basic, salad limited but after speaking with Guest Services this improved and the chef prepared a baked potato for me as and when required. They really do want to make things great so if you do have any queries call into guest services who do bend over backwards to help in any way they can.

We stayed for 14 nights which was fine because we met some great people (hi to John & Alicia, Matt & Michelle, Tom & Nicki, Alison & Sophie, Chris & Donna, Richard & Chris) and everyone else that met in the office. That said, had it just been the two of us maybe 10 nights would have been better as the resort is very quiet.

We did a tour around the island which was great and felt very secure.

If you want any further info, please get in touch as this is truly a fantastic resort well worth a visit!
