We have jus returned from our third stay at the verandah and nice again it excelled itself. I read some of the less favourable reviews of this hotel and am simply amazed. Each it ewe have visited this hotel we have been berated by the smiling Michael on reception with a glass of cold champagne and a cold towel. After a speedy check in we are whisked away on the golf buggies to our delightful bungalow style room with amazing sea views...I could have sat and watched the pelicans diving from the balcony for hours! What make this resort fantastic is the staff. They are amazing and go out of there way to help and please. We have two young children and the staff are so friendly and make such an effort with the children...remembering us each year and making us feel at home. The food in the restaurant is always lovely and it is definitely worth the supplement to treat yourselves to dinner at Nicole's once while you are there...lobster and steak! Perfect! The apple cake was so delightful and asked for the recipe and the chef happily passed it on to me. The best thing about the resort is it never really feels that busy even at full occupancy, no fighting for sun beds. I will say that yep the beds are a bit hard but you can ask for a topper which makes it fine. All in all I highly recommend this resort to young families and may even go back for a fourth time. Thanks verandah!

The Hotel was unassuming at the lobby area, compared to other resorts we've been at. But when taken throught he winding roads to our room, the lush plants and scenery of the beautiful blue crystal clear ocean was awe inspiring. The room was very comfortable and kept immaculately clean, every day. The front desk was prompt to respond each time we had called. For example the safe battery was out and couldn't close our safe in the closet. They sent someone immediately and addressed the problem. We had a minor ant problem in the bathtub, and was addressed as well (to be expected in the hot part of the earth). The food was average, a lot better than Cuba though. We were expecting and looking forward to the fresh exotic fruist like mangos and papaya's and banana's for breakfast, that we hardly find here in Canada. Instead it was pineapple (which was very good and sweet, and 3 types of melons, that hardly had any taste, the bananas were amazin! Only one day we had papaya, and it was gone in a flash. The breakfasts were spot on with a wide variety of foods, Bagels and smoked salmon, eggs (any way you like them) No Maple Syrup!! being from Canada it's a staple. Lunches were at the Beach Grill House and Iran alwys had a smile and greeted us daily. Evening Theme nights dinners Carib: the hilite was the jerk chicken, curry goat and oxtail that they do like nobody's business. The Italian Night wasn't even close.BBQ nigh was excelent, The Meditteranean night was OK. the Dessert Table was always plentiful and varied. The beautiful beach was always calm as it was in a cove and as well there is Long Bay Public Beach, just 200 meters from the hotel and we walked that the last few days as the sunsets were spectacular and the pink and white sand and truly amazing beach. If you have mobility issues then the hilly walkways to get to and from the restaurant to your roon would be an issue, for my wife and I it was our daily excersize. They do have these trolly cars going back and forth that you can hop on too, but was a hit and miss. (I suggested that the post regular schedules so that anyone not feeling well or walking, could plan to catch the next trolley). The pools were spectaluar and the adult pool was nestled quietly and was a nice refuge at the end of the day. The exterior construction of the townhouses we stayed it seemed unfinished or just poor workmanship. The AC was quiet and worked wonderfully. All in All a great destination and Antigua has 365 beaches, we will certainly go back. The people were sooo friendly and easy going, and tasted some of the best BBQ sauce ever.

Just returned from a week at Verandah and highly recommend. The individual cottage like villas were comfortable and spacious and the entire resort exudes a calmness.
We found all food satisfactory but unexpectedly felt the food and service was superior at the Seabreeze buffet.
All staff were warm and friendly with a quality of service standard that far exceeds many other resorts I've visited. We were especially drawn to Iran who introduced herself on our first day and we enjoyed lovely daily chats with her.
This is one of the few resorts I've stayed in that I would return to without hesitation.

Just returned from fantastic holiday, enjoyed by all 12 of us ! Resort was great, clean, food and drink of great quality and beach lovely and relaxing. Nicole's was truly great, def worth the supplement . Only area I had issues with was some employees seemed not very up for working in hospitality and little rude but didn't spoil our holiday and we would def return to this amazing resort

As this was our second visit to the Verandha in 2 years we kind of knew what to expect, and unlike when visiting new resorts , we felt we were on holiday as soon as we had checked in and were transported to our room.
We were pleasantly surprised to find the resort largely unchanged since our previous visit.
Rooms are spotlessly clean , light and airy, with plenty of room for clothes storage. It is true to say the showers do have a tendency to flood onto the bathroom floor, which we tried to remedy by positioning a hand towel and the end of the shower screen.
We spent most of our days on the sports beach, where there was always plenty of choice of sun beds, you certainly didn't need to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve your sun bed.
The sea is lovely and warm, just a shame about the seaweed, however, this is easily avoided and certainly didn't put us off using the beach.
We did not sit around the main swimming pool as for us, there is not enough shade, although the swimming pool itself is beautiful.
Always a plentiful supply of good quality towels for use on the beach or around the pool.
Every member of staff try their utmost to make sure you have the best holiday you can, they have to be the best asset of the hotel. It was nice to see many familiar faces from our previous visit.
We found the food to be of a more than acceptable quality, with plenty of choice at the buffet restaurant . I would think the most fussy of eaters should be able to find something to eat. There was an excellent choice at the breakfast buffet, again , something for everyone.
There are 3 restaurants you need to reserve, one being the beach bar grill, the others being Bucaneers and Nicole's which is the fine dining restaurant and requires a $30 Supplement person.
Since we were last there the main restaurant has had air-conditioning installed.. This was definitely a good decision and is much more comfortable for both eating and for the waiting staff. We ate in all the restaurants, and didn't have a bad meal. Oh, and don't forget afternoon tea served by the main bar area.
Choice of drinks is wide, and branded drinks are served. It would be a nice touch to have cocktail menus at the bars. We didn't find the drinks were watered down.
We agree with some other reviews, that it would be nice to have some water in the room on arrival, I seem seem to remember last time we had a jug in the fridge for water, this time we didn't. Just would have been a nice touch.
Evening entertainment is fairly low key and finishes before midnight, so if you are wanting loud music and late evening entertainment, this resort would not be for you.
The resort is about 30 minutes transfer time from the airport and taxis are readily available from the desk outside the terminal building.
All in all, we had a very reading holiday, what is exactly what we wanted.
Ate and drank far too much, but went home glad we had returned to the Verandha, would we return in the future? Most definitely.
To the management and staff... Keep up the good work!!

Room Tip: Choose a room around the main swimming pool for easy access to the sports beach and the main restaurant / bar area.
