We stayed at Cocobay April 14-21. The airport was fairly well organized. We had filled out both sides of our immigration papers and we were into a taxi within 30 minutes of landing. The ride was about 30 minutes and there was refreshing towels and rum punch waiting for us when we arrived. We were fortunate enough to be given Chattel House for our first night and then upgraded to a lovely Seafront Cottage for the remainder of our stay. Paradise found……. The room was very quaint, the bed was extremely comfortable and we loved the shower that opened to the outdoors. Ours was very private so we used it often, however I am not sure that all cottages were so fortunate. Each cottage seemed to have their own hot water tank below the cottage, so hot water was abundant and the pressure was great. We had a mini-bar which was stocked regularly with pop, water and beer. Our first night we were welcomed with a bottle of sparkling wine. Our second night, and our anniversary, we returned to find that the staff had placed candles and flower petals all over our room. So romantic! The plunge pool was cool, but not cold. We actually used it quite a bit even though the sun wasn’t always out during our visit. The pool was still comfortable. I kind of wished I had brought ear plugs as the combination of the crickets, frogs and whatever other night creatures were singing and then the birds who took over when the sun came up, combined with the water hitting the rocks beneath our cottage was a little more than I am used to, but wouldn’t stop me from returning! I just used the frequent waking’s to remind myself I was in paradise and would soon be back home, so enjoy it now! Our last night, staff brought a bottle of rum punch and some toasted coconut to enjoy on our balcony.

The food was great. Breakfast was from 7:30 – 9:30 and buffet style with 4 main choices along with the egg/omelet station and a selection of muffins/danishes, cereal, fruit. Lunch was similar and was available from 12:30 – 2:30 with a similar set up to breakfast. There were panini type sandwiches available at the lower pool bar in the afternoon and tea at the main bar at around 4 or so, but we did not try this. The sandwiches were great and very unique. Dinner was at select seating times, which you would sign up for each morning. The first sitting was at 6:30 and the last was around 9:00. They had a set menu each day with 3-4 appetizers, one soup, and 3-4 main courses. For an additional charge, you could always have tenderloin, shrimp or lobster. We were fortunate enough to have been given this privilege with no charge. Perhaps this was a perk of booking directly through the hotel? Either way, we sure took advantage and were most grateful at our good fortune. The lobster and shrimp were amazing! The drink menu was limited but we certainly had no real issues. There was always something good to drink. The house wines were Chilean and surprisingly good.

The pools were very quiet. The upper pool seemed to be more popular and loungers were a little more difficult to find there, but the lower pool always had loungers available. The beach was absolutely stunning. There were always loungers under the palapas. The palapas could use a little tlc. Robert was there to assist with the watersports, towels, drinks and many other chores. He was great! You can walk a little ways down the beach past Dennis’ to Big Ffryes beach. It was deserted and even calmer than the resort beach (Little Ffryes). Check it out. It was fun to walk the beaches looking for shells. If you go behind the resort you can meet up with Valley Church beach. Another amazing and practically empty beach.

The evenings were very quiet. There was a manager’s cocktail party on Thursday night which included a few vendors and a steel drum band. There was only one other night that there was live music, otherwise, most just visited with the other guests in the evening. Very quiet and relaxing.

We took the hotel shuttle into St. Johns’ one morning. It leaves at 9:00 and returns around 12:30 and is $10 us per person. We quite enjoyed St. Johns’ and almost wished we had a little more time there.

We tried to do the dinner on the beach, but our reserved night was rained out. Oh well, gives us a reason to return sometime in the future!

The weather was a little iffy. We heard that the island had been in a bit of a drought prior to us arriving, so the rain was welcome. Again, it gives us reason to return. We had been told that the forecast online always calls for rain, but it would be a 10 minute shower and the sun would come out again. This wasn’t always the case for us, but it was still warm and we still stayed on the beach reading under a palapa.

There were a few outstanding points to this resort, the first being the sheer beauty of the place. The second is the staff. They were outstanding. They always remembered and referred to you by name. Their inquiry as to how your vacation was going was very genuine. Hello to Melissa, Tony, Robert, Joailin and anyone else we may have forgotten. You provided us with an experience we aren’t soon to forget!

We have just returned back from Cocobay after renewing our wedding vows. I disagree with the three star comment.
Yes the rooms are rustic but clean and bed exceptnally comfortable. Tameka the resort wedding co-ordinater went over and beyond in making our day perfect even with a little surprise on return to our room.
All the staff made the hotel stay wonderful, special thanks to Mr Gore who deserves the employee of the week reward.
The only minor quibble would be the lack of selection of snacks at lunchtime but it would not deter me from returning back again .

Room Tip: Seafront rooms have air con and wonderful views. If you have mobility problems everything is close t...

Trip for a week with the wife, we stayed in a sea view room at the top of the resort with great views. Rooms are a bit tired but I don't think it distracts from the resort.

The high point for us are the staff, most are excellent, a few just polite.
Food is perfectly fine but not the reason you would go to coco bay.

The views, relaxing, fun, chilled. You get their idea!
Not much going on in the evening but normally a group staying for drinks around the bar.

Just returned from our honeymoon at Cocobay, and had a fantastic time! We were in St Lucia first and really happy with where we stayed there, but Cocobay was in a completely different league. The location and scenery were beautiful, staff were friendly and helpful, food was lovely, and the pools were amazing! The cottages have a simple, rustic charm - if you want all mod cons, TV etc. it's not the place for you, but I wouldn't want it to change! Even the bathroom had stunning views out of the doors onto the balcony. We had a fantastic time and felt no need to leave the resort. We would recommend trying Sheer Rocks (the restaurant which is on site but separate to the hotel so you have to pay) as the views of the sunset beat Shirley Heights (one of the Islands tourist attractions) and the food is great. We hope to return one day and will be recommending it to anyone we know wanting to go to the caribbean!

We recently stayed at Cocobay which was absolutely amazing despite the title of this review! I would definitely stay here again if I was going to Antigua but not in the same room.
You have two pools, a private beach alongside the hotel and two beaches (Ffryes and Valley Church) within 5/10 minutes walk.
Food was fantastic, as with other reviews we didn't eat the same meal twice and the staff are very accomodating if you can't decide what you want. (We did a little mix and match some nights because we couldn't decide!) I would definitely recommend paying the $24 supplement and trying the lobster.
The bar closes at 11pm which felt a little early some nights but the resort as whole is very friendly and we met some lovely people.
Cottages are great so long as you go with the expectation that it's a wooden cottage not a fancy hotel unit. We were in a Sea View cottage which was a double room with plenty of space and large bathroom. The only fault I could find with it was that the view was of the back of the hotel so the noise from Ffryes beach parties at the weekends travels a long way, at one point it felt like our cottage was vibrating. Other guests didn't have the same problem so it must be down to whatever way the double doors are facing. Our cottage also overlooked the driveway so you could hear people leaving & arriving - we were very unlucky as they were replacing the posts each side of the driveway while we were there so the electronic saw was a great alarm clock! Nothing the hotel can do about the noise from the beach parties but a bit of a heads up about the fundraiser that went on til 5am would have been nice.
Wifi and air con are extra $$ but we found we didn't use either. The room temperature was fine with just the ceiling fan on.
I did get small bites but only 4 and my husband who is like cat-nip for mozzies only got 1, which is a record for us. I'd recommend a plug in and covering yourself in Jungle Formula as it worked for us! They also sell one in the shop called 'Off' which was pretty good.
A fantastic holiday in a fantastic place and we met some lovely people but take some ear-plugs if you are in (sea-view) rooms 28/29/30. Just in case...

Room Tip: Avoid Sea View Rooms that overlook the driveway if you can. The view is still lovely but they are no...

This was our 6th visit to Coco Bay and it just gets better every time. What more can one say.
Everything was perfect. No where else will you get the views that Coco Bay offer. Staff are just fantastic and it is such a pleasure to return and everyone remembers us. If you want a place to chill out without being pretentious this is the place. We sleep better here than at home. All you hear is the crickets, sea and palms swaying.

The staff and food was wonderful all the reviews about the food we totally disagree it was beyond great we stayed at the resort restaurant the whole nine days. Our wedding was beyond perfect thanks to Tameka she was wonderful!! Our time there was so relaxing we can't wait to go back already. It is a very low key resort but nice at night to hang out at the bar to talk and make wonderful friends!! You will go back relaxed and guaranteed to want to go back!!
