Everything Was Wonderful. The rooms were great as well as the pool, beach, and restaurant. The Staff were incredible and so friendly. They definitely made an great experience incredible. We spent all 7 days on the resort and did not have any desire to leave, we enjoyed the chance to relax and disconnect for a couple days.

Room Tip: If traveling at at time when it is hot in Antigua, definitely get a room with A/C.

Hotel offers everything you need and more. It's worth to rent a car a day and ask hotel personel for tours suggestions.
Boat excursions are expensive, best is to book a private boat for some hours to visit specific sites. Half moon bay is the best beach of the island reachable in 40 minutes from the hotel by car.

This was our first trip to the Caribbean and we researched the hotels very carefully via the reviews on Tripadvisor. This resort is small and quiet, exactly what we were looking for.

The location of Cocobay is fantastic with wonderful sunsets and the hotel felt very relaxed and uncrowded with a very laid back atmosphere.

The room was very clean and comfortable with excellent quality linen and mattress. We chose a seafront room with a plunge pool. The pool wasn't cold as some people have reported but it isn't really worth paying extra for it as it could only be described as private if it wasn't overlooked which ours was; be warned as some 'seafront' rooms are not on the seafront. I think the management need to redescribe some of these properties as our room was sea view not seafront. (See room tips for details).

The food was very good with plenty of choice. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient.

Unlike a lot of reviewers we had no problems with the biting and stinging wildlife and the greedy birds provided hours of entertainment at breakfast.

Room Tip: The seafront room called sugar apple is not on the seafront.

The view of the water was incredible, the overall buildings were fantastic, and the accommodations were great. The drinks were strong and plentiful.

The problems we had were that only half of the staff were friendly. They were either could not wait to hear about where we were from and how we were doing, or you were bothering them asking for a drink. Not consistent service.

The food was very mediocre at best. The breakfast never changed items and got very boring after a week of poached eggs. Lunch was by far the better of the three meals, the cold salads were great, but everything else was not great. The sandwiches by the second pool were the best option. Dinner was incredibly disappointing. Would definitely suggest going off property for dinner.

This is recommended for the views and the relaxed atmosphere.

This was our 3rd visit to Antigua but our first stay at Cocobay. In 2005 we stayed just along the beach at Coco's and had very fond memories of the place however this time we chose to stay at Cocobay. Having spent the past 3 winter holidays on a fantastic island in the Maldives it was hard to drag ourselves away from the Indian Ocean and important that we found a resort in Antigua that would be totally different but just as good. The only thing I was concerned about were the reports of sand flies and mosquitos, whilst i'm rarely bitten they find my partner very tasty! We took a chance and went prepared with numerous cans of 50% deet spray.

We travelled with Virgin and booked a sea view room, we prefer to swim in the sea so didn't feel the need to book a room with a pool. A week before our trip we emailed the resort and requested a quiet room with a view over Valley Church beach. On arrival Melissa made reference to our email and we were allocated room 34, about a 2 minute walk from reception and up a slight incline. Our room had a/c but this was at additional cost and seemed expensive so we tried the first night without it and it was fine. The combination of the room being in an elevated location and therefore catching the fantastic breeze, a good ceiling fan and being able to leave the wooden window slats open meant that the room was always cool. The window slats had mossie nets fitted over them so no need to worry about the bugs.
The view from the deck was wonderful and I particularly enjoyed sitting there early in the morning watching the birds and the amusing sight of other guests dashing to the pool with their towels to reserve a bed....6.30am was the earliest sighting, and yes they were English!

As i'm an early riser I didn't mind walking down to reception to book a table for dinner which is just as well because if you wanted to eat at 7.30pm all the tables were gone by 7.30am.
The food and drink were excellent and we enjoyed the arrangement of buffet breakfast and lunch with dinner served al la carte. Not a huge choice at dinner, one meat, one fish, one veggie and pasta - we absolutely refuse to pay supplements when we've booked all inclusive so didn't try the daily offering of steak or lobster @$24.75 each. During our 14 night stay we felt there were only one or two occasions when we found it difficult to find something we enjoyed. We soon discovered that the kitchen were most obliging and would serve an alternative vegetable or sauce if requested. Presentation and service were excellent.
The drinks were good but it would have been nice to see the cocktails with a bit of fruit for decoration. We found the bottled water to taste absolutely disgusting unless it was freezing cold, I don't know what they do to it but it wasn't good! The wine was fine and even the sparkling wine was good, especially in the cocktails.
We have been spoilt by the beaches in the Indian Ocean however there are only so many times you can walk around a tiny island. The location of Cocobay means that if you enjoy beach walking then there are a few to choose from that you can access easily on foot from the resort. We particularly liked big Ffryes which was nearly always deserted and we were able to walk along Valley Church beach, cut through Coco's and onto Jolly Harbour beach returning to little Ffryes and deciding that as a resort beach it was pretty good! The only thing I missed was snorkelling, having been to this part of Antigua before I was prepared for this and so was not disappointed. Watching the birds on the pond behind little Ffryes nearly made up for the lack of fish in the sea.

The staff were mainly great, but one or two less so. Robert on the beach looked after us very well and we enjoyed his daily chats. Some of the female staff provided the best entertainment of the holiday dancing to one of the bands - fantastic, I just wish I had their energy!

One thing to be careful of - the restaurant has steps to various levels which are unmarked or guarded, whilst we were there one lady had a bad fall and we saw at least a couple of other near misses. This could be addressed very easily and the management should do this before someone takes legal action. Also on a couple of days a small group of people arrived at the beach by hire car and were obviously not staying at Cocobay, they helped themselves to sunbeds and sat very close to us and another couple. We asked them to give us some space which they did and soon left, again something management should be addressing.

All in all a fantastic holiday and we would recommend Cocobay.

Room Tip: Rooms 33 - 37 had good views and were not too far from reception. I guess the beach front rooms may...

JUST GO............

If you want relaxing, with excitement if need this is the place. We arrived at reception and had a nice warm welcome and big smiles all round. As soon as we stepped in it felt relaxed, and nothing seemed a problem. Checking was a breeze, and or bags whisked off to our room, we followed at a leisurely pace behind. We had a sea front cottage with plunge pool (no 8) we were not disappointed. The room was cool with air con, a nice big and very very comfy bed with mozy net, the bathroom had a his and her sink with white towel robes, nice big open shower which, if you wanted opened onto the outer deck. There was a tv in the room to rent movies and access Internet, never used it so can't tell you any more about it. The big double doors at the foot of the bed opened onto the deck area and reveal a fantastic view of Coco bay over the top of the plunge pool.

The staff are attentive and helpful, but not overbearing. The food is very very good/excellent, I preferred the al a carte menu to buffet, again you won't be disappointed unless you are royalty or a moaner. Drinks are plentiful, I enjoyed the sparkling wine tasted good but I couldn't tell you anymore on that as not wine buff. White and red wine along with water is served at lunch and dinner, and staff are happy to take a trip to the bar if you want something different.

Pool areas ....... See available picture, it says it all, troubles melt away as soon as you easy in.

Wifi is available at $10 us a day, you get some little phone like device to carry around with you, you need to leave a $150 deposit. I used it and it was excellent, no issues at all, however you can only connect one device per unit.

Water in the shop is $4 from reception $2.25

To do's -
Coco bay Dinner on the beach at night get your own waitress, fantastic and romantic. $110 total
Shirley heights about $30
St. John's harbour price of a cab $20 return
Jet ski from beach about $50 - 60 depending on your bargaining skills, I got 45mins for $50.
Free water sports (hotel)
Circumnavigation of the island on either the sailing cat or motor cat, we did the sailing cat, really good. TAKE PLENTY OF SUN CREAM!!!! $110 each.
Cades reef in a private speed boat (bow rider) Again negotiation skills, I got two hours for $60.
Coconut and rum drink at hotel (yes in a fresh coconut, just ask bar staff)

Any questions please just ask as could go on for ages, in a nut shell fantastic you will love this place.

Room Tip: Get a seafront cottage with plunge pool if you can.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay. The open lobby was full of sunshine and cool drinks the day we checked in. Lovely smiles from happy staff members set the stage for a fantastic stay. My hubby and I loved our rustic and romantic little casa overlooking the beautiful sea. Long restful cuddles in the patio's hammock was just what the doctor ordered to simmer right down to island time. Loved it so much my hubby suprised me by getting a hammock from them for our trip home!
No tv, phone, radio, or clock in the room? No problem! Open the french doors to the beach to catch the breeze and crank up the ceiling fan if needed. Just melt into your dreamy day with no interruptions from the outside world.
The weather was perfectly balmy and breezy and enhanced our excurisions to the beautiful pool and the jaw droppingly blue ocean. I'm still sighing over it all now. So very glad we picked Cocobay for our romantic getaway. We just wanted to have some alone time and privacy and that was available in spades. For the more social butterfly there are other folks staying there that are readily available to chat with, and the staff is wonderfully friendly and enjoy sharing a laugh with the guests. I can't recommend the cocooning that you can do with you sweetheart enough though. It was heaven to just be with each other for a while.
We went all inclusive so the drinks, meals, and snacks were always available on schedule. The food was fresh, well prepared, and varied. You eat in the restaurants and not your room. I don't even believe there is any type of room service available. It is worth it to travel back from your bubble to the world to eat at the restaurants though - the musical entertainment alone was worth the dark trips back to the room. The resort does get very dark at night. Be prepared for climbing about on pavers set on the hills and rises of the mountain to get back and forth from your room.
Definitely not the time to show of the high heels ladies.

Room Tip: Get an end room for even more privacy. Those open showers are fabulous!
