“Best View/Food in Antigua”
Reviewed July 24, 2012

This review is abit overdue, we stayed at the Suger Ridge hotel for seven nights for my birthday and ate at Carmichaels for three nights, the food and service was absolutely amazing.
The view overlooking the hills/sea were stunning! We'll be back!

“Very good food by expensive”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

The food and service was excellent, but pretty expensive. Definitely works as a special occasion meal.

“Fantastic Views”
Reviewed July 17, 2012

The ambience is serene with panoramic views - The table settings are very pretty and the service is good. The food is very fusion/caribbean and presented as a piece of art on your plate.
Thoroughly enjoyable dining experience most times and a place that you can dress up and feel matched with the elegant setting.

“Lovely evening”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

We had a lovely evening at Carmichael's, celebrating a wedding. The food was wonderful, I especially enjoyed the lobster. Watching the sunset as we arrived, enjoying the view -it was the perfect surroundings for the wedding. The only negative is that we had to wait a looooong time between the courses (wich should not be necessary, as we had booked and set the menu in advance,)

“Outstanding location. Food, sometimes exceptional, but sometimes plain wrong!”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

We stayed at Sugar Ridge for a week and ate at Carmichael's twice. The starters of scallops, shrimp and seared tuna were exceptional. The fillet steak was good, but the stand out dishes were the catch of the day, Kingfish and Grouper. It takes true skill to cook fish to perfection and i have to say, the Grouper was one of the best I have ever tasted!!
It was therefore a disappointment that the desserts were so poor. Somebody needs to tell the desert chef that "beet root" has no place on a plate of Creme brûlée. The pane cotte, although tasty, had far too much gelatine. The lava cake with mint ice cream was very good, but the advertised poached pears were off the menu on both nights.
Overall, the experience was great. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was for the most part good and the sunset view was one of the best on the island.
Highly recommended, particularly if Grouper is on the menu!!
