“Heaven”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2014

We just stayed there with our two children of 11 and 10. They loved it. Two pools and right on the beach. Fantastic walks along the beach to villages and the main town. Great help from the staff on where to go and how. They got a cab for us to the north of the island where they helped us find a man with a boat to take us out to an island for snorkelling and exploring. They can offer group trips but were very helpful when we wanted to go solo. The little spa here is sweet, the gardens lovely - with all the trees named - the rooms very nice and the food excellent. We had some great breakfasts and dinners - including a beach BBQ - and also the "staff meal"offered on the menu. Lovely touch - I have never seen "eat what we are eating" on a menu. It was lovely. Lot of organic foods, locally grown. Don't stay anywhere else but book as they are popular.

My husband and I stayed here in February for 5 nights as a relaxing break from our hectic Far East tour. It hit just the right note giving us the service and amenities needed to totally chill. We were lucky enough to get Ocean View room 1A. This is a huge room which I think is sometimes used as a family room. It is by the pool and has the only little private area of these rooms as the sun loungers are tucked down the side. The Ocean View rooms just share a long terrace, admittedly with amazing views. What better than sitting outside on the terrace, watching the sun setting, sipping a cocktail. Do not be put of by the rather dated entrance and reception, things improve once you are into the gardens. The pools are lovely and plenty of sun loungers around them. I would imaging though that someone with walking difficulties could struggle with the slightly uneven steps down to the Spice House restaurant and the beach . The food and service in the restaurant were superb, there are some tables with high stools overlooking the ocean with sunset views, the larger tables in the gardens are well spaced out and enjoyable, also tables on the beach, so lots of choice. There is a young English guy working there who is very helpful and if you have any queries it is great to be able to converse with someone who you know understands your requirements. We ventured out to a restaurant along the road one night but it was a disappointment, nothing compares with the Spice house even though it is a little more pricey than those around, it is still inexpensive by European standards. We had lunch in the beach bar of the hotel next door a couple of times which was a short stroll and made for a nice change. There is a little shop, selling all essentials such as water, soft drinks, beer, wine etc on the road down to Cassia Cottages just a couple of hundred yards away. All in all a great stay.

Room Tip: 1A Ocean view Room is huge but does have an outside shower which did not bother us.

We stayed 2 nights at the end of a 6 night stay in Phu Quoc. We had changed hotel due to lack of swimming pool and were not disappointed. Pool and public hotel areas were beautiful, rooms (we had room 8) were good though we felt aircon did not quite get the room cold enough. Restaurant has gorgeous food, beach is good with the useful addition of jellyfish nets, though 1 had slipped through! Breakfast is great, staff are extremely helpful and attentive.

Only last very slight issue was an infrequent faint smell of stagnant water due to the river/pond.

Would definitely recommend this hotel and will aim to stay there again at some point.

We stayed here for a family trip after having been to Phu Quoc several times and having heard nice things about Cassia. We had a nice stay and found that the service was generally good and quite friendly. The restaurant was also good and the beach was decent. The facilities themselves are showing their age and the area was extremely buggy. Factoring in the price, it was average.

Thanks for your input, Luu D. You are a tough reviewer, with 13 reviews above average and 13 below. Your top reviews are new and trendy French restaurants in the center of SaiGon. That's not us!
We agree Cassia Cottage has warmth and style. We are usually not " buggy", and we use electrical nets and mechanical traps for mosquitoes, and NEVER spray/fog like most hotels. Most guests LIKE mossy stones and private gardens overgrown with vines and flowers.
if we are not your style, then thank you for staying anyway. If our five full time maintenance staff and four gardeners aren't keeping up, we will give them an incentive to improve.
Do come back and mention your earlier review, so we can try to please you more.

The grounds of the hotel are lovely, and the pools are pretty. The rooms are as they describe on the website: nothing fancy, but clean. The food was average, and the service in general was also just average. Not as friendly and welcoming as all of the other places we stayed at in Vietnam. We had a nice stay, but nothing stellar and it ended up being really expensive because we had to book two rooms (we were traveling with two kids). Not really worth the price.

We stayed at Cassia Cottage for 3 nights in March. The staff were extremely welcoming and made sure we were comfortable. Thoughtful gestures such as the welcome sign on the bed on arrival, the fragrance of cassia in the room, the fitting of mosquito nets on the beds in the evening and the lovely gift on departure, were all very much appreciated. We were even given a free upgrade from our 1 bdrm garden cottage to a lovely 2 bdrm beachfront cottage after the first night because we were travelling with our adult daughter. The service and meals at the Spice House restaurant were also excellent and good value.
