Lovely place. But call me finicky but I'm from Melbourne where the coffee is outstanding. Sadly the reviews about the coffee are in my humble opinion out of whack with world standards. Maybe about a line ball with a starbucks... The pancakes, however, were excellent for both myself and partner and the service was excellent.

Dear guest,

Thank you for your comments on our services and letting us know your feeling about our coffee.
Firstly, our coffee shop definitely could not be compared with some big brands in big cities like yours at present. We have been offering 2 types of premium coffee at Alanis for the time being, Western (100% Arabica) and Traditional Vietnamese Coffee (100% Robusta).
We always inform guests when they want to try Traditional Vietnamese Coffee at the first time due to the strong and totally different taste from Arabica (Espresso, Americano...).
Unfortunately, you might have the Robusta that you are not familiar with. Moreover, we have seen most of Australian people could not know how to enjoy Vietnamese Coffee which is popular and and familiar with most of European. You should not have tried the Vietnamese Coffee instead of Espresso or Americano with milk. We regret about that and apologize for the inconvenience caused. Wish you all the best in 2013.

Regards,
Alanis Team

Me and my husband have been at Phu Quoc in March 2012 and stayed in the hotel nearby that cafe. We were very happy to find such a wonderful place so close to us.))
After our long trips over the island it was always such a pleasure to have a cup of freshly brewed latte with a delicious desert or some snacks. By the end of our vacatios we were a little bit tired from the national cuisine, so at Alanis we took perfect breaks for a change )))
We always ordered different dishes and they all were very tasty and nice. It became a good tradition of us to visit Alanis Coffee Deli every evening after the dinner during our stay at Phu Quoc and it definitely a part of our good memories about our vacations there.
The personnel was so great and friendly, we really enjoyed our time! Thank you, guys, we hope to come back some day again!=))

Alanis Coffee Deli is a solid outlet for travelers to Phu Quoc. The coffee/pancakes/juices/smoothies are the best. Banana pancakes, pineapple juice and the omlettes are all great. The Deli has a generator when the power goes out on the west side of the island which is a great asset for internet use. The guys who own the place are extremely nice and helpful. They moved our moped into the shade and suggested sights in Phu Quoc. The prices are fair considering the quality/type of food. These guys really pay attention to service and the little details. They have several types of coffee for Vietnamese and Western tastes. They even ground our coffee beans late at night so we could enjoy their delicious brew even after we left Phu Quoc.

After reading many of the rave reviews about this place and finding out we're were just 2 short minutes away we decided we had to keep the Trip Advisors honest by seeing for ourselves.

The cafe/deli is ultra clean and mod with a very fresh look. We opted for a lounging area of seating and began to peruse the menu. Many of the pictures in Vietnamese restaurants are merely google images of something similar. I am happy to report that the images in the menu that had us salivating were of the actual dishes and in truth did the ultimate presentation little justice.

We ordered a regular coffee, a strawberry milkshake, a plate of caramel pancakes and a plate of chocolate pancakes. All arrived with carefully executed presentation which was just the setup to the flavour explosion that was about to follow! The coffee was roasted arabica heaven (a welcome retreat from the Vietnamese rocket-fuel drip filter stuff), the strawberry milkshake did in fact contain unicorn tears as alluded to by a previous review, the caramel sauce on those pancakes should be bottled and sold as an anti depressant they were so good and the chocolate pancakes caused a my mind to shut off for a split second as it attempted to come to terms with what had just happened to my tongue. Both sets of pancakes came with a big fluffy gorgeously finished mound of the most delicious whipped cream which provided perfect balance to the dishes.

Not only is the food mind blowing, the service and attention to detail are world class. Only one of the owners was there when we visited, but within the space of the 30 mins or so that we were there, he hand drew us a map of the best beach on the island and gave us the low down on the evenings parties within the area. Just incredible.

The love, care and attention to detail put into this food experience sets this place apart from any other restaurant we have visited on our 3 week tour of Vietnam. I would highly recommend this spot for any self respecting foodie.
