“Great pool and fantastic breakfast”
Reviewed February 21, 2011

It's a little on the expensive side for Vietnam but a very nice hotel. The gardens are very well looked after and the pool is great. The private beach is not great but with a very nice pool it doesnt matter. Watch out for the broken tiles though!
The breakfast buffet was fantastic. Everything you could want from cereal to fruit to pancakes and omlettes.
A real draw back is it's location. You can't walk to Duong dong town but a taxi is only about 70000D one way so not so bad.
There is major building work going on next door as of Feb 2011. It had only just started so didn't really bother us.

The hotel has a nice gardens and huge pool, but is quite far from the other hotels/restaurants. Taxi costs are around 35-40k Dong, one way. The prices for services (laundry, restaurant, etc) are 2,5x higher compared to the other hotels, but quality of the food is average so we took a taxi every night to go out for dinner (nice Indian restaurant, or the most beach restaurants are also very good).
We had a bungalow with cost around 200$ per night. I wouldn´t recommend them, as you don´t have much sea view. Furthermore they are quite far from the beach and very expensive. What really upset us was the adjacent construction site. It is not acceptable to pay so much money, and watch (and listen to!) road works on the beach! In this price range we would recommend the Veranda.
Breakfast was okay (compared to breakfast in Vietnam!).

Firstly the positives of this hotel are:
1) Location:
Eden Resort is situated on Long Beach, a short ten minute taxi ride to the main town and night market.
2) Hotel
Very clean and great pool with private beach
3) Room Size
All rooms appear to be bigger than average hotel size. We had a seaview suite which was fabulous.

Now for the Negatives:

Overall Impression
1) Overpriced we paid top rate rack price on AGODA. This hotel is at best a 3 star hotel.

2) Staff

Staff have very very poor english and most cannnot even translate their own menu. For example I asked what a "Fantasy Smoothie" was i.e it did not say on the menu what type of fruit was in it. The staff member could not tell me nor did he understand my simple request. Croque Monsieur arrived with an egg. When I politly explained I did not want this as it said on the menu croque Madame had an egg she took it way and gave me back the same sandwhich minus the egg and now with a sausage? when I said no I wanted cheese and ham she got the manager. He then tried to give me the same sandwich with the sausage and egg.at this stage it is now cold.......I really dont think there was management on site as we stayed there 4 days and can list numerous issues.

Food

We did go the to evening Bar-b-que and it was very pricey with even less on offer. It was all fish no meat. Limited starter and desssert selection certainly not worth €25.

Idle Staff

Staff members tended to congregate at the side of the bar which is adjacent to the Ladies Toliet when using the bar/pool area. I felt this was a total invasion of privacy. Sometimes there could be 5-6 male staff at the ladies toliet?? Surely if management were onsite satff would not be so lax. This was EVERY day.

Next Door Propertys
Adjacent to the Eden Resort it a bigger digger that works from morning until nightfall. When the digger stops the property next door to the Digger comes alive. it is another hotel with a loud speaker with disvo music until about 11. None of this is exagerated!

Overall Impression
I am saddened to say I cannot recommend this to friends as it was a complete nightmare to stay. Number 1 communication was very difficult, 2 the noise was unbearable from the digger and the tne disco. 3 I thought it was a rip off.

One thing i would recommend is if you do get stuck in the hotel. Hire a moto across the road. Go straight on the dirt road to south beach. It will be a meorable journey to a stunning south facing beach.

Management please get your act together at this property.

Free delivery service between airport and hotel, but you need to book in advance.
Fantastic view in the hotel, especially in the evening.
In sunset, BBQ buffet dinner in the bleach was very romantic.

Stayed at the Eden Hotel for new years for 7 night "too long"with our young family. For US$200 p/n you would expect sea views, as we booked a seaview suite but instead were facing this huge construction sight with bulldozers, not a pretty sight for a beautiful untouched island. The "La Veranda Resort" nearby is stunning, beautiful, very trendy, the location is better to wander around for similar $$$ value. The Eden Resort has" huge potential" if the hotel management encourage & train staff to better communicate in English and increase's service levels, so guests would return. Would like to say thank you to "Thong" front office staff, he was fabulous, always had a smile. The pool area is lovely but the pool water was green with algae 5 days out of the 7 days and finally the hotel staff managed to borrow chlorine from another hotel nearby so we could enjoy the pool as there's nothing else to do apart from suntan & swim all day. The hotel is secluded on a beautiful stretch of white sand 10 minutes drive by taxi to the main fishing village where all the restaurants are. Our two favourite restaurants were the Indian restaurant called Ganesh "absolutely fabulous" and the one further up called "hop Inn" brilliant" local Vietnamese cuisine. The Eden hotel lacks atmostphere, needs music, needs ambience so it can attract more travellers.
We as a family have travelled the world extensively, wouldn't call this property a luxury resort more of a 3 star charging 4star prices...........

This is a brand new 'luxury' resort and in comparison to everything else on this stretch of the island, outstanding. The food is good, the service is good and the pool and beach is perfect, both by far the best on offer. Is it the best place I have ever stayed in? No. But this is vietnam and by that standard, it's very good. What's missing? Authenticity and atmosphere. You could be anywhere.
