We stayed for 3 nights in November in the 2 bedroom beachfront luxury bungalow - there was nothing luxurious about it. There were a few positive points about this resort. To start with, it had great landscaping which was great for photos. The beachfront was also very broad so it never looked too crowded. From the beach and the beachfront bungalows, the sunset on a clear day was stunning (but you get that at any place on the western side of the island). The beds and the pillows in the room were reasonably comfortable for a good night's sleep. For these reasons, it was not "terrible".

However, the construction of the room was shoddy. The worst part was the leaking sinks. There were 2 sinks in the room, both of which leaked terribly. When we mentioned it to them, they seem aware of the issue and explained it was due to a design flaw and could not be fixed, not while we were there. It appeared to be a problem not only for us, but a number of bungalows. For a 4-star resort, we could not understand how they could allow guest to stay in a room with such a fundamental problem, not to mention this was supposed to be a "luxury bungalow".

Another big problem was the door to the veranda that could not be secured. It was so misaligned that a gentle tug at the rusted door handle from the outside could easily open the door even when locked. In the "2nd bedroom", there was only a shower curtain on a thin string as an excuse for a curtain. By the way, it was not really 2 bedrooms. The whole bungalow was rather big so they just cordoned off an area to make it a separate "bedroom". The list flaws goes on - gaps in the door, cracked mirror frame, missing trimmings on bathroom pillars, etc.

The food in the restaurant was mediocre and had very limited seafood on offer, which was what Phu Quoc is famous for. Other services in the hotel was also rather sparing - no map of the island for guest, no hotel map, pool was not too clean either.

With the choices available on the island, consider somewhere else.

Room Tip: Not the the "luxury" beachfront bungalows.

Celebrated my boyfriend's birthday at Eden Resort and it was an unforgettable experience - dining on the beach specially prepared by the helpful staff. I couldn't ask for more how they made the night memorable by softening the sand to create a dining zone just for our table away from other diners. The food was equivalent to high end dining yet affordable. I highly recommended their beef salad and tuna tartar. As for the room, spacious and quiet. I would say we enjoyed the food more than the room though. We spent a lot of our stay by the pool, enjoying the sun, pool and beach. Tried their massage, wasn't impressed. I suggest to go for the beach masseur.

Having read Pardo's review (from Dublin) after returning home it is apparent that the reception manager is at it. We booked a Sea View Suite at this hotel prior to leaving the UK and printed off the paperwork. We booked 4 nights at the end of our 3 week holiday and wanted it to be a time to relax in some luxury before our return home. On arrival at reception we were told that as they had overbooked we were being upgraded. We were shown to a semi detached bungalow which contained only one room and had no sea view. It was definitely not an upgrade and we returned to reception to state that we wanted the room we had booked. They then showed us a small pokey room that they tried to pass as the room we had booked in an attempt for us to jump at the bungalow. We showed them the paperwork for the Sea View Suite and after waiting 20 mins eventually were shown to the room we had booked. This suite was superb and following this initial problem our stay was very enjoyable. We found all the other staff attentive and helpful. The gardens are beautiful and the restaurant overlooks the pool and beach. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and tasty. As stated previously the hotel is well located, near to the airport and the hotel supplied us with a free taxi back to the airport which was a nice touch.

Room Tip: Take your paperwork to prove what you paid for and don't fall for the alleged upgrade unless it...

I don't know why I had a mixed feeling about this hotel, they are trying to build a high quality hotel but the management failed to do so! the hotel is fine and I dont want to be negative about it, but there is something missing, I liked the idea about the toilet outside but it could have been nicer if they just kept the shower and sink outside, as you feel no privacy at all if you want to use the toilet and I had to search for lizards every time I want to use the toilet to make sure nothing will pit me :)
big building is under construction behind the hotel which over looking the toilets!!!

The pool and the beach are the highlight of the resort, check in and check out were so robotic and nothing special about the reception and the restaurant.

Room Tip: try your best to get garden view or sea view suites, much better than the normal rooms

We have just stayed for 5 nights at the Eden Resort. It is well laid out and has an excellent beach front location. We had a sea view suite and yes, the rooms are showing their age a little, but it was spacious with a nice balcony overlooking the sea, and was very clean. Every evening the chamber maids come round with extra bottles of water and to spray mosquito repellant in the rooms near the doors and under the beds.

yes the drinks are pricier at the resort than from the street side stalls. That's what happens in resorts! You pay more to sit at the lovely beach side bar instead of by a busy street to drink it!

The staff are spectacularly helpful. They might not all speak great english, but they will go out of their way to help you until they understand what you need! Food was always good - the breakfast buffet is exceptional, and very well stocked the whole time.

The band are pretty awful, granted, but find me a resort at a reasonable price in asia that doesn't have a dodgy philippino band!?

The sea was a little murky during our stay - a result of recent rain and strong winds. The resort can't help that - but the pool was lovely and a great place to hang out.

Over all - a really great stay and having seen many resorts on our trips into and back from Duong Dong we would definitely choose Eden again.

Room Tip: Sea view suites are good - very big if there's more than 2 of you.

Arrived 11th December for one week in a Sea View Room but it was not what we expected, initially we were given a room looking over a building site but quickly moved to a Sea View Room. This room had a few issues but were sorted very quickly.Food was excellent and the table service was superb with particular thanks to Thuy,Quan,Chi and Lloyd. As for things that require improvement, Some general DIY is required and also the pool hygiene and safety is compromised by missing tiles and a lack of filtration. These easily addressed issues are holding this resort back as a 4 star resort. Our opinion is that this is suited for couples. On resort Lotus Spa is a must. thanks to Han and Cuc

Plenty of pros and cons here.

Nice location right on the beach. Close to airport, night markets etc.
Food and drink were relatively expensive, but there's a small shop just up the road which is much cheaper.

Staff had generally poor English. We had an issue with our first room and it was difficult to explain. On the plus side they ended up upgrading us since there was no more of our room type left.

The whole place needs a bit of maintainence though. Tiles fallen off in the pool, plenty of blown light globes that weren't fixed. Also the wifi signal is quite weak in a lot of the hotel.

The beach looks nice, with some great sunsets, but the water was dirty and we always swam in the pool.

At night they had a very bad sounding covers band play by the pool. Unfortunately it was so loud you could not just sit there and have a quiet drink with friends. Fortunately the night markets are not far away and food and drink there was excellent and very cheap.

Room Tip: We got upgraded, I think it was a luxury garden bungalow. It was very good.
