Ranked #8 of 15 Hotels in Duong To

Really wanted to like it but there was zero management so service was very poor and inconsistent.
- There was no orientation of the hotel. We were taken to our room and that was it
- Food was average and expensive
- The atmosphere was terrible. Neon lights and dance music through dinner time
- The band that played was horrible and actually made people leave
- The pool needs to be retiled and cleaned (chlorinated)
- The staff speak little to no English
- There was no hotel manager
- The reception area was the only place you could find staff and should be the heart of the hotel but they were so unable and unwilling to help
- We weren't told that there was only one bus to the airport in the morning and that it left at 7am. We were lead to beileve that we could pick a time and there would be a cab waiting for us
- There were no activities to speak of except for a lonely volley ball net on the sand. It would be great is there was place to play pool, darts, chess... any type of quiet recreational area
- People at the hotel actually told us to eat elsewhere

Room Tip: The villas near the beach looked like the best

Dear Peter V,

Thank you for sharing disapointing experience during your stay at Eden Resort Phu Quoc.
Your comments were exactly as it happened here due to lack of management until Jan 2013.

From then, with the coming of new Manenegement Board, a lot of changes have been done. Infrastructure, maintenance, service, customer care and staff"s perfomance and language are better now.

We do hope to have a chance to win back your trust, and we ensure 4-star quality service for your next time you travel to Phu Quoc.

Sincerely Yours,

Terry Nguyen

We booked our room through an agency at the Airport when we landed. We were quoted one price, then charged a difference price. When we called to complain, they said that the price they quoted us had changed and to please be understanding of their mistake. The young lady told me that she would have to make up the difference to her company if we made a big deal of it. The difference to us was about $15 per night, which was no big deal for us but a fairly decent deal for her. So we let it go and just paid the extra amount. Then upon arrival, we had to wait about 2 hours for our rooms to be ready. My wife was getting agitated and was ready to find another resort. We were placed in a little hut down by the ocean and it would have been a pretty good place if it wasn't for the trash along the beach. The VN people seem to use their country side as a trash can. The resort staff attempted to do some cleaning of the beach, but it was just simple too much to keep up with. It wasn't that it looked like a landfill, but things like soda cans and food wrappings got tossed aside instead of in the trash.

The Night market here is great, lots of food and vendors with their nick-nacs for sale. We went every night. They have fresh seafood made to order anytime you want at the market. And by fresh, I mean literally still alive when you order it. If you like shell fish, you'll be in heaven.

The Island is known for their Pearls and there are several pearl hatcheries along the beach where you can go and buy pearl jewelry. My wife purchased a necklace she still wears.

Best beach on the Island is a place called 5 Star beach (I think that's what it was called, it was something with the word "Star" in it) where the waters were very calm and the sand bar goes out a very long distance. Highly recommend.

So overall, our stay on the Island was nice, but the "Resort" (if you can call it that) was mediocre at best. I suggest finding a mid level resort then going out and enjoy the Island istead.

Room Tip: Go to the Night Market, get off the resort and go sight seeing. Ask a Taxi driver to take you to th...

Prince Tristan,
We are very sorry that you had been overcharged when booked Eden Resort via an agent at the airport. As you know, there are "broker " everywhere, specially in tourist destination. To avoid such problem, please visit our website or book via some reliable website as agoda, Expedia..., we post our best rates everyday and regular promotion throughout the year for your most convenient tome of travel. By booking online, you don't have to wait as your room is ready before you arrive.
We are happy that you enjoyed staying in the bungalow on the beach, though it was not tidy. We try to clean the sand everyday but please understand that it's very difficult as the beach is for the public not private. To improve this, we have oppointed regular staffs to clean the beach all day long, it's very sure that next time you come, you will see a different beach of your expectation.
Thank you for your nice comment and we hope to welcome you again at Eden Resort.
Regards,
Terry Nguyen

Hotel is located about 30-45 minutes away from the current airport and it’s about 20 minutes from the main attractions i.e Night Market. Simson's liquor factory/tour is only 2 minutes away.

Fast check in. Large rooms with all the modern amenities + a balcony. Bathrooms window are facing the hallway so there’s a reek of sewage in the hallway.

Staff- very friendly, but also very soft spoken.

Nice pool with a picturesque sun set. The hot tub is barely hot. Clean beach with lounge chairs + umbrellas.

Restaurant- we only ate breakfast here. Nice selection of American + Vietnamese cuisines.

Public Area-Nice landscape, but it’s very dark at night. The floor is very slippery.

Construction- the hotel is expanding so beware of the noise. Make sure you ask for a room not facing construction area. The expansion looks like it would include beach front bungalows and an ocean view bar.

First of all the pictures are so old it is a completely inaccurate reflection of the property.
Unfortunately there wasn't one aspect of this place that made it worth while- horrible rooms, loud construction and the worst customer service I had ever experienced.
Similarly to other reviewers, we were awoken at 7:30am by construction. We asked to change rooms because it lasted all day and was quite unbearable, we were told they were sold out - which was completely untrue As we witnessed walk up customers receive rooms more than once.
Furthermore we asked to speak with the manager every day of our stay as there were constant problems ranging from no wifi ( which is advertised) to no- one being able to understand us trying to order a bottle of water. Every day we were told he was not on site that day.
We can adapt to most situations and have patiences with other cultures and languages, the problem here was that no attempts were made to ever satisfy the guest - it was a kind of ' too bad, you've already paid ' take what you got kind of attitude.
The value is not present at this hotel at all, please do yourself a favour and learn from our mistake!

We booked this resort due to there not being much available during our last minute trip so we knew there would be building work and luckily the noise couldn't be heard from our room. In saying that we were in the main building so we had people above us, this meant that we could hear them clear as day, unfortunately they had a baby with the loudest cry we've ever heard and we could hear them shouting and stomping about! I did ask whether they could move us elsewhere but they said they'ed have a word, it didn't really help. I know these things can't be helped but it wasn't ideal as we go to bed early and rise early.
The place itself was nice, the grounds are good and the beach ok but its a busier area than elsewhere on the island, the staff are very friendly and the service was good, although on one lazy night we tried to order room service which took around 10 minutes while they bounced us from person to person.
You are in good proximity to the town here and its very easy to hire a scooter, we tried to get cheaper scooter here but the going rate seemed to be 200,000 ($10USD).
For the last few days of our trip we stayed at another resort that was more expensive but actually had a proper private beach and was much quieter. This location is good for exploring south of the Island and the town.

Room Tip: Try and get a villa if there is one, as the walls are paper thin in the main building!

I stayed at the Eden resort from the 7th to the 11th of January. As I arrived I noticed a big building under construction. The concierge gave me the key of the room and as I got in (room 204) I realized that in front of the room there were a real very noisy building yard. Cold saws, hammers and so on...surely not an "Eden"!!
I ask the manager to change my room because it was impossible to relax. He told me that the resort was fully booked, but in two days ( the 9th) he would have changed my room. In the meantime he assured me that the day after the works woul have started at 10 am instead of 9.30 am.
Well, the day after works started at 7.50 am and I had my room changed just for the last night. The manager ( who evidently lied to me several times) was always nowhere to be found, and the personnel can't speak english.
If you are looking for relax don't go to Eden resort or assure you in advance that your room is not in the building yard side. The manager won't help you and he will lie to you just waiting for your check out.
